Week in READview:

On & Off the Blog:

I almost gave up this week. Driving back and forth two weeks ago to drop off my son and pick him up, while doing my classes, plus I got a ticket for speeding but they lowered it to obstruction of vision for the dangly things on my mirror (air freshener) was stressful and exhausting. I was super happy to have a full week to get shit done BUT I woke up Monday morning with a pinched nerve in my neck that sent FIRE DOWN MY SPINE, If I didn’t move, I was fine. So I got nothing done. By Friday I was still in a bit of pain but was able to do a few things but not a lot. A lot happened two weeks ago…. so Let me catch you up a bit on one thing that is happening that has me super excited.

So my unemployment is close to running out once it ends on September 6th. I am not a deadbeat looking for a hand out, I have been searching for a job. Would I like an extension? Yes, because it is keeping my family fed. I am not getting the full $600 and extra $300. I actually get a lot less and pretty much is barely making ends meet. Once it stops or goes to just regular unemployment. I am going to be in a bit of a bind. I have been looking for a job and before you say, well a lot of places are hiring, yes, they are But… I need a job that pays a LIVING WAGE. Working at a local grocery store or something similar will not pay my bills. Plus I have been looking, every week, and the job is always just out of my reach. So I decided maybe I can have a try at freelance design. I can build my business and see if I can work for myself. I have a backup plan to also get a part-time or remote job if I find one. Just something to help pay the bills while I build and rebrand my business.

So Limabean Designs is going through a major change. I am redoing the logo and redoing everything. I want the company to have a clean, fresh professional look with a touch of whimsy. I have been working on it for a couple weeks and hope to have all the pieces done and ready to be put together mid September. I am so excited, I can’t wait for you all to see it.

In Other News….I haven’t read in 3 weeks, not because I don’t want to but because I have been super busy. I am liking my current read so I am hoping to finish it this week. Blogging has taken a back seat but I will be around soon. Just need to figure out everything once my back goes back to normal.

Read & Currently Reading:

I didn’t post a TBR review this week because I am just behind on everything but I am going to continue and probably start reviewing the TBR Books the next month. I think for now that will work better for me.

Currently Reading

What I grabbed:

  1. Oof I had a year of really bad back pain like that and it is not fun. Especially when you have so much you have to get done like you do. I hope you are feeling better.

I look forward to seeing your rebranding and good luck!

The job situation is rough out there. Even if you got a job at the grocery store or waitress etc I hear it’s a nightmare between short staffing and jerk customers.

  2. I’m so sorry about the pinched nerve. Those are the absolute worst. I hope that starts getting better soon. I’m so sorry about the job search difficulties. That’s so frustrating. I hope this week gets so much better. Virtual hugs and lots of thoughts and good vibes.

  3. That pinched nerve sounds so painful! I hope you’re feeling better soon. I am so excited to hear you’re going to try and make Limabean designs your job. I love the designs you do and you’re so pleasant to work with. I really hope this pans out for you. And that things will be less super busy soon. I hope you’ll have a great week!

  4. I am sorry to hear about your job situation, and I know there are ppl on unemployment that need it (unfortunately there are too many that take advantage of it to not work which those bad apples make it look bad for those that really need that) Hope you are able to find a job and that this new venture will bring in rewards for you and your family

  5. I’m sorry to hear about the pinched nerve Michelle! That sounds PAINFUL as heck! And I hear you on the job situation- everyone says there’s jobs but they don’t all pay enough for someone to make a living! It’s crazy. anyway I wish you luck on your search and especially with Limabean! I hope it works out and that you can have success with that- you deserve it!

  6. I’ve been laid off so many times and it has NEVER been easy for me to find a job and I’m an Executive Assistant / Admin Assistant who can work anywhere in any field!!!! There’s always a billion people applying for the same position. I swear some people think every unemployed person can just walk in, fill out an app and get hired. It doesn’t work like that!!! The last time I was unemployed it took me 9 months and a ton of interviews to finally get hired.

Anyway, I know how tough it is so I wish you the best of luck and tell you to just hang in there.

  7. Finding a good job right now is rough. You are right-there are tons of places hiring, but it is hard to take a cut to $10 an hour. Hopefully things really take off for your with Limabean. Best of luck!

  8. Finding a job right now is super easy. Finding a job that actually pays more than barely minimum wage? Not so much. I’m just glad I live with my parents, because it is rough out there. I hope you can find something!

  9. Iam praying that you find a good paying job, or that your freelancing hits the ground running when you are ready!! 🙂 Hope your pinch nerve is getting better!!

Have a great week and happy reading!

  10. Trying to find a job is rough. I hear you on not wanting to work at the grocery store or a restaurant that’s hiring. I too would not be able to make a living on that wage since hours are not guaranteed in those jobs. I’m still looking as well and it’s slow going. I always get bites with interviews and the whole “I really like your resume!” and then nothing ever comes from it. I think I only ever received 1 formal rejection where they did let me know they weren’t hiring me. Everyone else just leaves me hanging. I hope you’re able to get your business up and running and wish you the best of luck!

Not getting new books can also be good the TBR as well as the wallet, but I feel you one the sadness of it all. Hope you enjoy the rest of your current read! I still need to read this one!

    Have a GREAT day!
