Fit Readers is a group/challenge run by Felicia @ Geeky Bloggers Book Blog and Jen @ That’s What I’m Talking About, designed to support and encourage each other on our health and fitness goals. In years past I’ve participated but just done quick updates on my Sunday Post. This year, I want my goals to be a top priority, so I’m going to share my updates in a separate, more detailed weekly post. The day it appears will probably fluctuate, though, so just keep your eyes out for it 🙂
Recommitting for May 2020
I THINK I’m doing a bit better this week than I have been overall since I found out I’m getting laid off. Taking care of Dante is easier (because I”m used to it? because he’s older? because I don’t care about my job so much? IDK) and I’m just trying to make it through life right now as happy as possible. Some days are happier than others.
Emotional Health Goal
Write down 3 things I’m grateful for daily.Â
I skipped Sunday (Mother’s Day) because I did NOTHING that day – which I was immensely grateful for lol! Otherwise, I’ve done really well writing down my gratitude. It is harder some days to come up with 3 things, which actually helps me to sit back and realize I’m neglecting to appreciate the basics that not everyone has – like a safe place to live and our health. And that’s good for me to remember.
Fitness Goal
3 times a week, do a real workout.Â
I’m continuing to do my twice daily walks – and I’ve managed to turn 3 of them a week into a C25K run. And it FEELS GOOD. I need to run.
Eating Goal
Eat 1 vegetable or fruit and get 1 high protein meal daily.
Seriously, does wine count as a fruit? Even without counting the wine, I’ve managed to get in at least 1 fruit OR vegetable every day. Thinking forward… I need to choose veggies or fruits over the easy to grab chips and cookies. We’ll see what the scale has to say when I weigh in (I weigh in the 1st of the month only now, since I obsess).
Yay, congrats on changing your walks to runs! Running can be so intimidating to start off with, but once you keep going with it, I like to think it gets better :’)
I also love that this is recurring theme – keeping fit is especially important now, and it can be difficult, so it’s especially motivating to write down your goals sometimes.
Great job, Berls! We are struggling with the easy “grab” foods at my house. In an effort to encourage eating veggies and fruit, I’ve put the snack stuff like chips, rolled up and clipped shut with the veggies ready to grab. It works some of the time. But the drive to eat junk is large in this household. I just ate a cookie and I wasn’t even hungry. Boo me.
Thanks Jen! I’m trying – but I could be doing better. I think I’m allowing stress to be too much of an excuse. I just ate a cookie too… and yeah, I wasn’t hungry. LOL! Home has never been the best eating place for me! I hope this week goes well for you!
Sorry to hear you’re being laid off. Out state is opening in phases and it’s slow going. My husbands company is struggling for work but we’re keeping our fingers crossed as he is are only source of income that things will pick up. My daughter and I are trying to give up soda and are making fruit smoothies instead. It isn’t easy, soda is my weakness. Hope you have a great weekend.
Soda and ice cream are my big hang ups. And I HAD been doing good on the on soda thing before COVID. But now? I’m not even trying to stay off it. But I do limit myself to 1 a day. I have my fingers crossed for you that your husbands work picks up! I know how stressful it is to be losing your primary income.
You’re doing great with everything happening. I am too often using eating rewards and that is always bad. I eat the good things, but also the bad things.
Stay with it!
Thanks Anne! I know the Temptation right now to eat junk is so strong. At least you’re eating a good things too, right?😜
