Fit Readers is a group/challenge run by Felicia @ Geeky Bloggers Book Blog and Jen @ That’s What I’m Talking About, designed to support and encourage each other on our health and fitness goals. In years past I’ve participated but just done quick updates on my Sunday Post. This year, I want my goals to be a top priority, so I’m going to share my updates in a separate, more detailed weekly post. The day it appears will probably fluctuate, though, so just keep your eyes out for it 🙂
January 19-25
I feel like I’m doing pretty well overall. I met with my nutritionist this week and told her I need some tough love. She’s great at encouraging but also pushing when I need to be pushed. So she’s pushing and I really appreciate it. I’m taking a picture of all my food and reporting it on this app that she tracks. Man, does it make me chose better, knowing I have to take a picture. I mean, it’s honor system and I could just not take a picture, but then I’m only hurting myself. So I’m doing a lot better with my choices with that added accountability.
A little NSV (non-scale victory) I had to share
On Monday this week (1/27) we had a small issue that required getting a microphone from about an 8 minute walk across campus in 7 minutes round trip. I was in my skirt and ballerina flats, but took off running. I was sure I wouldn’t make it, but maybe I could be close.
I ran down 5 flights of stairs, across campus, up 3 flights of stairs (because the elevator was too slow), back down 3 flights of stairs, across campus again, and then up 5 flights of stairs in… guess what? 7 minutes! I made what should be about a 16 minute walk in 7 minutes. And it only took me about a minute of deep breaths to not be winded. My shins hurt from running in those damn shoes and gripping them as they tried to fly off, but otherwise, I feel fine! Never could have done that a couple years ago, so total NSV!
Emotional Health Goal
My goal for January – Do Miracle Morning Routine every day, even if I have to do an abbreviated form.
I’m so proud of myself for how well I’ve done with this. I haven’t missed a day this month! And it’s making a difference for me, I know it is. I’m focused and at peace more than when I wasn’t doing it regularly.
Fitness Goal
My fitness goal for January – workout 4 times a week (and bring it!)
Doing great at this goal too. Finding LIIFT4 on Beach Body on Demand was perfect for me. I’m getting my weights and I’m getting in intense cardio – all scheduled 4 days a week in less than 40 minutes.
This week I did Tuesday – Friday LIIFT 4, and then Saturday I did my second C25K run. It’s already so much easier than I thought it would be to run.
Eating Goal
My eating goal for January – Stop drinking soda.
I’m doing better with this goal, but gah! it’s struggle. I’ve been sharing soda with my husband, so I’m down to about a 1/2 soda per day. I just have to cut it out. I think I’ll do better if I have drinks that are as easy to grab as a can of soda. I bought apple juice, but I have to get a glass and pour it. I know, RIDICULOUS excuse, but when you really want something, you’ll grasp for anything. So yeah, I’m going to buy myself some easy to grab drinks. Perhaps single servings of juice? I’m up for suggestions!
Well done on the non-scale victory and good luck with the goals!
The soda one would kill me. I don’t drink a lot of it but when I do I really enjoy it and wouldn’t want to give that up.
The soda IS killing me! I’m seriously struggling with it, though I am doing much better. Believe me, I love my soda and could easily drink 4-5 a day. which is why I have to quit it.
You are doing awesome. The two things I drink besides water is iced tea and flavored waters. We like the cherry-lime version of Ice but there are many flavors and various people have done knock-offs like Walgreens and Aldis.
