She saw it coming. She knew it would happen―but no one believed her.
Almost a year after tragedy shattered her family, sixteen-year-old Paige Thomas can’t break free from her guilt. Her mother ignores her, doting on her annoying little sister, while her father is a barely-functioning shell. He hopes a move to the quiet little town of Shadesboro PA will help them heal, but Paige doesn’t believe in happiness anymore.
On her first day at school, a chance encounter with a bullied eighth grader reawakens a gift Paige had forgotten, and ingratiates her into a pack of local outcasts. For weeks, they’ve been trying to cast a ritual to fulfill their innermost desires, but all they’ve done is waste time. After witnessing Paige touch the Ouija board and trigger a paranormal event, the girls are convinced another try with their new fifth member will finally work.
Once the darkness is unleashed, it’s not long before they learn it will give them exactly what they asked for―whether they want it or not.
My Review:
The cover, it’s always covers like this that totally grab me. I love the creepy vibe it gives and I was so taken by the synopsis. This book has a Craft and Final Destination feel and I loved it. Creepy and dark but what an amazingly well done story. I loved all the twist and even had me a little jumpy. One point reading on my phone, my phone rang and I pretty much jumped out of my skin. This was just they kind of scary read I have been looking for.
Paige has been through a lot and she is very angry that every seems to be ignoring her. Moving to a new town after tragedy strikes, it’s time for the family to have a fresh start. Her dad is ignoring her and your mom is fawning over her little sister Melissa, Paige is a little angry. I really liked Paige, she was a strong characters but you could totally tell she is hurting and I don’t blame her. When she meets 4 other girls at school they try out a spell thinking Paige is the last piece they need but things take a turn and it’s up to Paige to try and fix it before it’s to late.
Paige has a bit of paranormal in her. She might be a scryer, or something like that. She can sense when something is going to happen. I really liked her characters and I liked that she wasn’t sure about what was going on with her. Kenzie, Renee, Santana and Sofia are great second characters. I also like how Paige’s parents played a roll in this story. It was nice to see the parents involved to go along with the story (can’t really explain in detail) I did, however, feel that Melissa (her sister) and Sofia talked a lot younger than they were. Some of the things they did or said didn’t seem like something and 8 or 13 year old would say, but that’s just me.
I loved the witchcraft in this book, I loved the story and I really enjoyed the characters. It had me on the edge of my seat and I really loved how it ended. I almost wish this might have another book since I would really enjoy hanging out with Paige and her family again. I strongly recommend!
Michelle loved the witchcraft in this book, loved the story and really enjoyed the characters. Share on X
