News at Home: February Already?!?

Y’all, is it really February already?!? Where did January go? This past week was kind of a blur (as was January, I guess). I feel like we’ve really hit our stride, though. Work is going really well and Dante is doing great at Daycare. He was fine before, but I feel like he’s really adjusted and thriving now. Most the time when I pick him up, the report is that he had a good day.

And Dante started eating baby food! I thought was had a couple more months before that started, but on Monday they called and asked me if I would be okay with giving him some oatmeal in a bowl instead of just in his bottle. They said he seemed very hungry, like he was going through a growth spurt. I said “okay, sure, if you think he’s ready.” The doctor had just told me we could start him on solids when he had his 4 month shots two weeks ago. He seems to love eating, they said he’s doing great and we started feeding him at home on Friday night – and yeah, he did great! He now eats Oatmeal, Sweet Potato and today we started Butternut Squash. After a few days of that, I’ve got some carrots ready to go πŸ™‚

Blog News

So this week I got a LITTLE bit of time to work on the blog during lunch – I worked through most my lunches because I had to leave early for my massage appointment on Monday (yep! I got a massage and it was great!) and then I chose to work through lunch on Friday so I could leave at 2:45 (as opposed to 3:45) and have plenty of time to get my nails done. This new job really has been affording me more freedom that I expected. This week I SHOULD have plenty of time to blog on Monday and Thursday and Friday. I know I’m working though Lunch Tuesday and Wednesday, but the rest of the week I should be on the blog.

COYER continues to go really well for me. I’ve read 19 books, 6 of them buddy reads. Check out mine and Brandee’s buddy read review discussion on her blog tomorrow :). I’ll have a brief review here, too.

For the Reading Assignment Challenge (#2020HW), I said I’d be reading Patricia Briggs books this semester. In January I read the first short story “Silver” in the Mercy Briggs series. So I’m off to a good start with that.

  1. Oh wow on solid foods! Definitely sounds like he was ready! My babies were formula babies so it was so nice when they started eating solids because that meant less formula cost! So glad your job is providing you more of a balance. Sounds like you’re finding your new routine for the time being. Have a great week!

    • Yes, can you believe it?! Already! He’s a formula baby too, so I’m thrilled at the prospect of the food replacing bottles. So far, he seems to be just adding food… but I guess we’re still saving money, because if he’s that hungry I probably would have had to up the amount of formula he drank.

Hope you’ve had a great week!

  2. January seemed long to me as we were adjusting to the new schedule and every week seemed to be not routine. February is off to a great start (it’s all weekend so far!) lol. I love how you are having a great job with challenges and yet it is allowing you more flexibility.

Have an amazing week! Happy reading!

    • LOL I Hope February is still off to a good start now that we’re past the weekend πŸ˜‰

I totally get what you mean – when we’re off routine, I struggle. I need routine and I’m so glad we seem to have found ours. Happy reading πŸ™‚

  3. It’s so great to have flexibility with your hours at a job. I’ve had jobs where it wasn’t possible and it sucked. Made scheduling anything a nightmare. And it’s awesome to be able to blog during lunch breaks. I often do the same. πŸ™‚

    • When I was a teacher, I had 0 flexibility, so this is an amazing change for me. I’m loving it; it makes work fit into my life, rather than having to make my life around work.

Hope you’ve had a great week!
