Blogless, Time Travel and Overwhelmed ~ WIR & TSP

Posted January 17, 2016 by Michelle in The Sunday Post, WIReadview / 18 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog & Real Life:

I hated this week, so far in 2016 this is not my favorite week. On Sunday my hosting company got attacked by a hacker and it pretty much put every blog in their servers down. It was a nightmare. 5 days I had no blog and even now it’s still a little glitchy. My blog came back on Tuesday night only to go down again and return on Wednesday morning in 2015. My blog time traveled back a year with my old header and all my old posts. On Thursday my wonderful hosting company was able to find my backup and return my blog to normal. I don’t fault them for what happened, it sucked, but I am happy it is fixed. The guy who owns the company worked his butt off to get everyone back up and running and pretty much updated us around the clock even though they are still having issues, I am not sure he slept.

The beginning of this year is starting off bad for celebs, I was devastated to hear that Alan Rickman passed away. I adored him as the Sheriff, Metatron and of course Professor Snape. Robin Hood just so happens to be one of my favorite movies even with Kevin Costner losing his accent half way through. He was an amazing actor and how so much more to give. He will be truly missed.

With my blog being down, I am way behind on everything, apparently I don’t handle major stress like I thought and pretty much bailed out on life entirely. So this week I accomplished nothing, which now only sets me back even more. So just note that Because Reading will be a little slow on posts until I can catch up. Not how I wanted 2016 to start, but it is what it is.

On Friday, after banging my head on the desk repeatedly trying to figure out how to organize myself and then taking a quick ride to Staples, I had an idea. Something that will work for both Limabean Designs and even a new post for the blog. I am still working out all the details but Yay, I can still come up with ideas when my head is full of chaos. πŸ˜‰

I sadly had my first DNF of 2016, I am super bummed about it but I was currently reading The Study in Charlotte and I heard awesome things about it but I got to about 20% after a week of trying and just had to stop. I just wasn’t connecting with the characters, their relationship just seemed so forced making it hard to really get the story. I usually don’t review DNF but since this is a My TBR List book I will have a short review for it at the end of the month.

See this was a crappy week!

Last Week on the Blog:

Apologies, there was two post this week, I had to move the others to next week. So if you caught a glimpse at two reviews those have been re-scheduled for next week.

This Week on the Blog:

Picture of the week:

This is my tiny bookshelf, I had already informed my husband that I need a bigger one since all my funkos and my books don't fit on these two tiny little shelves. He didn't say no but that is because I control the checking account. ;)

  1. I’m so sorry there were problems with your host/blog last week, Michelle. You weren’t the only one but I just can’t imagine. And I don’t have backups, I don’t think! Gah! I’m also sad that A Study in Charlotte didn’t work for you. I had high hopes for it. But hopefully, your current read is a great one.
So you learned you don’t handle chaos well, huh? I’m not sure any of us would have handled last week well. I’m sure you did just fine. And hey, you got a grand idea out of the deal, right? I’m anxious to know what it is!! πŸ˜€
Hopefully this week is going *much* better!!

  2. I’m glad to see your blog back up. I kept trying last week to visit and then I saw your Facebook post. It’s good to hear your host was able to help you. It is sad to hear about Alan Rickman passing and he was great in Robin Hood. I also laughed at Kevin Costner losing his accent lol. I hope this week is less stressful for you! Have a great week Michelle!

  3. Your blog/hosting-site saga sounds like an absolute nightmare! I would have been a wreck. Of course it will take a little while to catch up; don’t worry about it.

I’m sorry to hear about A Study In Charlotte, especially since I’m supposed to be reading that one, too. I hope I have a different reaction, but if I don’t, at least I’ve been warned!

Yes, it’s been a pretty awful week all around. I hope things start looking up soon.

  4. Glad you blog is back up, and I hope that they get the glitches fixed soon I know how crazy it can be not to have your blog. πŸ™‚ I am bummed that you DNFed The Study of Charlotte as I have it to review so I hope I end up liking it more. πŸ™‚ The book your currently reading sounds interesting so I hope you are liking it.

Hope this week proves to be better than last week!

  5. I am glad to see your blog up and running again, I can’t imagine how horrible it must’ve been to be without your blog so long. No matter how nice your hosting company is about it, it still sucks to not have your blog for so long. And I can’t imagine how bad it must be for those who made their living through their site. I hope your blog will stay up for now and I can imagine it put you behind on schedule a bit.

I am sorry to hear you had your first DNF of the year. I almost had my first DNF of the year, but I managed to finish the book and ended up with my first 2 star book. And my first ever 2 star for a my to-be read list pick. Ah well, let’s hope I get my first 5 star of the year soon.

I am curious to your idea for organization for both your blog and limabean designs. I hope it works out! Find Me looks good, I hope you’ll enjoy it! Have a great week!

    • I know! That was a long time to be without a making money. It’s just frustrating because now I am so behind and have a ton of posts to do that wont get done or scheduled until sometime next week which makes Jan light on posts. Not how I wanted this year to start.

I was bummed, I don’t think I had a 5 start year but I am reading a book now that I am really liking so we will see

I can’t wait to share, if this blog stuff would settle down I can start really brain storming and get all the info up.

  6. I hate that your bloghost was hacked. I know it was a nightmare for many of you. πŸ™ I am glad things seem to be relatively back to normal–hopefully those glitches will get fixed soon. I am sorry too about having your first DNF book of the year. Hopefully your next read will be much much better.

Here’s hoping this next week will be better for you!

  7. Sounds like your blog is going down more than a $5 whore with a half off sale. But I’m sure the glitches will get taken care of. πŸ™‚ I had a NetGalley book that was kinda hohum, but I kept reading. It didn’t get any more exciting and it seemed forced. Oh, well. It’s not like I don’t have anything else to read and I can knock a NG book off my list. πŸ˜€

And you were busy this week. You got more of my memes done, so Yay! *dances around in excitement then stops to gasp for breath* Whew! Need to work on that exercise thing. *fingers crossed* the blog stays up, stiff and strong. πŸ˜‰

    • LMAO!
This year I want to focus on book I like so I just can’t force myself to read a book I just don’t like. And yes that is one more I can wipe from my list. πŸ™‚

I will be doing another one or two today and we are almost done πŸ™‚

  8. Sorry to hear about the blog stuff, it’s funny how when our blogs go down it’s like now what do I do, right? LOL. And time traveling back to last year- yikes. I know it’s not funny but that must have been weird to see!

Alan Rickman was great, I loved him as the sheriff too. He was hilarious,,,

    Like the bookshelf pic!

    • In the middle of trying to comment to you it when down again. It’s driving me crazy since I was planning on doing a bunch of stuff today hoping they had fixed it when I woke up.
It was actually funny since I was like WHAT! Everyone that gets emails from me must have thought I went insane when my blog sent out stuff from last year.

He was awesome, he will be so missed. I was hoping they would have put all his movies on this weekend, I would have loved to watch Robin Hood.

Thanks but I still need a bigger shelf lol

  9. Yeah, when our blogs are down, the world stops moving, right? And five days felt like forever!! I’m glad you’ve still had some good ideas, and I look forward to hearing more about them.
I’m sorry you had to DNF A Study in Charlotte! I am one of those people who really enjoyed it, so I may have participated in racking up your expectations.
At least, now, you can read about Johnny and Anna, and I sure hope you’ll enjoy their romance!
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

    • I sat by the computer and just stared at my non blog. It was so strange not having it and I felt like I didn’t know what to do with myself even though I have a million things I could be doing. I was just totally thrown off. I took for granted that it would be there, it was the worst lol.

I was so hoping to like it but I just couldn’t get into James and Charlotte. For me their relationship wasn’t making sense and I couldn’t get into the story because that was bothering me so much. Oh well, the book I am reading now I am enjoying so I am sure it was just me.

I am excited to read about them. I feel a genre change coming and it’s to read more of those type of books, Might have to squeeze one or two in every month. I love my YA and Middle Grade but sometimes I need adult stuff too πŸ™‚
