Sunday

Today was super productive but also relaxing. After getting up with Dante and doing breakfast, I watched a little TV (I’ve recently finally followed up the recommendations to watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Then it was off to pick up groceries (Whole Foods, Walmart and Target today) along with Starbucks (my grocery shopping day treat) and my weekly car wash. After unloading, I played with Dante a bit, put him down for a nap, did meal prep and watched some more TV. After Dante’s nap, Kiko took him for a walk and I cleaned the bathrooms. And then it was dinner, playtime, and bedtime. A pretty solid day of work and play!

Monday

I started my morning with my Miracle Morning today – complete with my 5 minute meditation – on the balcony. Then I got back to the gym today (first time in 2 weeks because of my Kidney infection) and it was a great start to my day. We got ready right on time and I actually got to work a few minutes early.

So remember how I said I played hooky a bit last week? Well I’m paying for it today – I had to really work hard to meet a deadline, jury’s still out if I’ll make it tomorrow or not. I have to teach a couple training classes tomorrow and I’m still prepping the materials. Oops. I can wing what I don’t get done I guess. It was still worth it for my mental and emotional health.

Dante had a great day at daycare and they said he’s like a different kid with his shorter hair – not just more grown up in looks, but in behavior too. He did, however skip nap time and we have a fussy Dante tonight. We don’t want to go to bed too early, but I do think it’ll be an early bedtime for sure !

Tuesday

This morning’s workout kicked my butt! 10 minutes in I was dripping sweat and by the end, my arms were shaking when I just did the deep breaths. What a great way to start the day .. but I’m afraid I’ll be sore tomorrow. Something went haywire in my morning though and I suddenly it was 7:50, I still hadn’t gotten Dante ready and we leave at 7:55! Somehow we got out the door by 7:58, so I’ll call that a win.

At work today I taught the two training classes and they went really well. I got everything done on time (second class was prepped with 5 minutes to spare). And besides that I really didn’t do much at work – but hey, I was busy with work, so that’s a plus. Tomorrow will be slow again though lol.

Dante did well at daycare (but only 10 minute nap again). So far, he’s not fussy tonight though, so finger’s crossed that lasts for the rest of the evening.

Wednesday

Last night I struggled so hard to go to sleep – I was in bed by my normal 8:45/9:00 but lie there until 11:30ish, when I finally gave up and got a sleeping pill. I didn’t fully fall asleep until around 1. Needless to say I skipped the gym! I hate that, because it’s one of my favorite classes, but I needed at least 5 hours of sleep. I was a bit tired today but not too bad.

At work I was not busy at all and pretty much did no real work… but I did have my therapy session. I realized that part of the insomnia last night was anxiety about Dante’s Eye Doctor situation. They still haven’t called me back and I’m blaming myself hard for not standing up for myself (and Dante) better. But I was able to really reconcile that and I’m ready to let it go and just be focused on the fact I have him setup with someone else with a recommendation from someone who worked with the doctor. And I’m better prepared for what to expect now.

Dante’s continuing to do well at daycare, but today there wasno nap again. Not even a few minutes. And he’s not fussy tonight at all. I hope this doesn’t mean he’s giving up naps! He’s not 2 yet, seems very young to be done with napping. We had a nice evening though and are about to put him to bed. Then I’m going to try getting to bed and SLEEP myself. I’ve cut out all eating 1 hour before bedtime now and I’m going to be no technology once I go to bed. Fingers crossed!

Thursday

Today was a great day. Had a really good workout and the today was my work from home day, so I was off to my brother’s for the day. It’s his second to last day at his job before starting a new job next week, so he was semi-busy. And his partner, Zach, was in the middle of a design sprint. So we didn’t get to hang as much as normal, but we still had some great conversations. During one break, Phil introduced me to the show Too Hot To Handle. What an awful show, but it’s hilarious. Same level of awful as like The Bachelor(ette). I enjoy dumb watching those shows while doing other activities (like blogging).

We got an email from Dante’s daycare today that they had to sell and effectively immediately there are new owners. We’ve been assured that the staff is not changing, procedures are not changing, and cost is not changing. I can’t help be a bit nervous though. He had a great day and even napped today though. So we’re having an nice evening – The Bachelorette is on in the background, he’s playing and I’m blogging while playing with him.

Friday

Today was a really good day. I took a spin class to get started and it was with a favorite instructor I haven’t been able to take for a while. They just changed the class time from 6:15 am to 6 am and that difference means I can workout on Friday mornings now. We had a smooth morning and when I dropped Dante off at daycare he rushed to his seat, pushed out his hands for his sanitizer and started eating before I could even finish putting up his backpack. LOL! He’s really settled in and it makes me so happy.

Work was busy – fun busy. Besides a meeting I had, I spent a good portion of the day either shopping at Target for birthday presents or setting up the gifts or decorating offices – we have two birthdays coming up (Sunday & Monday) and I’m part of the 2 person (self-appointed) Sunshine Committee for these things. LOVE celebrating people and birthdays and anniversaries and baby showers, etc!

Dante did well at daycare again (no nap, but that’s become the norm) and kept playing after stopping quickly to greet me at pickup. I love how happy he is there. After dinner Dante spent most the evening playing with Buffy! They have always been good friends, but now he’s really learned how to play with her. He knows which toys are hers (and she knows which are his, it’s so cute) and they do fetch and tug-of-war. Its so fun to watch and he giggles nonstop. I also love that Buffy’s patience has paid off and she now has a best bud who plays with her so much more than we have energy too. They entertain each other and we get to rest and watch 🙂

Saturday

What a great day! Dante woke at his normal 7:30, but really that’s a lie in for me. We did breakfast – where he stole pretty much all my egg sandwich AND ate half his oatmeal! Where does this boy put it all? I had to make myself a second breakfast lol! My brother Phil & his partner, Zach, were supposed to come over today but my brother woke up twitchy (he’s an epileptic and somedays he wakes up realizing he is on the verge of a seizure if he’s not careful), so we canceled and they’ll maybe come over tomorrow. So I took Dante to the park, which was surprisingly empty considering the great weather. We played there for a bit and I picked up McDonald’s for lunch. Dante put way a kid’s chicken nugget happy meal – again, where does he put it?! and then it was nap time. For both of us! I wasn’t feeling fantastic and fell asleep for a little bit. I also watched some of the new season of Married at First Sight (a COVID quarantine addiction I picked up). After Dante got up we did dinner, some playtime, finally started watching Kobra Kai (I’m enjoying it, despite never seeing Karate) and put Dante to bed. I didn’t accomplish much today besides meal planning, so tomorrow will be busy. But the rest was worth it!

  1. My sleep has been awful lately and when I talked to my therapist we finally put together why. That night I slept GREAT! It was wonderful. But, just in case they gave me a higher dose of my medication to help manage stress and sleep. Glad you had such a good week!

  2. For a week with no drama, it sounds exhausting all the same! I don’t know where you find the energy.

“when I dropped Dante off at daycare he rushed to his seat, pushed out his hands for his sanitizer and started eating before I could even finish putting up his backpack.”
    Aww.
