On & Off the Blog:
It’s been a long time. I think I disappeared around the end of August/beginning of September. September 4th my unemployment ran out and I assumed I was suppose to get an extension until I realized that the reason my ex boss wanted me to put COVID related was so he didn’t have to pay and by doing that I didn’t get an extension and he wouldn’t have to pay. SO the stress went through the roof and I was scrambling to find a job. I wanted to take advantage of the unemployment so I was able to take a few classes while I found a job and also build up Limabean Designs more. My skill levels are lacking since I haven’t had to get a new job in 21 years. So I am at a great disadvantage. Here is a fun tip…If you are in tech or design…NEVER STOP LEARNING. It was a mistake on my part to think I didn’t need to educate myself with all the new trends and styles. So now it’s hard for me to find something since I am so far behind. By October we financially were starting to hurt with no income but my husbands. So I applied for a few part time jobs while also looking for a full time position.
My dream is to build up Limabean Designs and work on my own but I still have so much to do with the idea of it but need to get a job now even if it is part time. The first week of November I got a call from Barnes and Noble to work seasonally. So as much as I hate retail, it would be nice to be around books. I don’t hate the job but I also don’t love it. The 40% off is amazing but I just think for the amount of money you make isn’t worth the hassle of the people you have to deal with. Retail is hard and honestly for younger people, this old lady just can’t keep up and need a job that I can walk a bit but sit for most. I am just not build to stand for 6/8 hours a day. However, everyone will be getting gifts from Barnes and Noble for Christmas because 40% is amazing! lol
This weeks schedule will be a bit better, the hours are about 6 to 6.5 instead of 8 hours. 8 hours would be totally fine if I wasn’t standing the entire time. I will also be able to see my family which is a plus because this last week, I wasn’t able to see them. I would have to work from 2 to 10:30 and left before my kids came home and days I didn’t see my husband either so this week was so much better.
I will hopefully be back in the next few weeks but if I drop off again please know it’s not because I don’t want to blog but because I don’t have the time. I am hoping to get a better idea of how my schedule will be after Thanksgiving but also hoping that by January I can find a more solid job and start working regular hours. I will never regret not going back to my old job, I wasn’t valued and don’t feel like I would have been if I went back so while this is a struggle it will be ok, I got this! 🙂
If you are a blogger that joins the TBR list, I am hoping to be back to it in December. For now Berls will be adding the link to her posts until I can get my shit together! 🙂

Your ex-boss was such a jerk!! I am glad you found a job to help out with while you still learn about the new design trends. I always think your designs are so great!! That 40% off at B&N would be such a temptation…lol. 🙂
Have a great week and happy reading!

I found a boxset for my daughter which I would have never gotten if I didn’t work there but also it’s about $75 off. Which is fantastic. lol. Everyone is getting gifts from B&N 🙂
Sorry your job is tough. I had to work in retail myself and I hated it. I had to deal with so many unruly people that I just up and left. I hope things go better for you.
It is a tough job to have and the pay should reflect. I see why so many don’t want to do it anymore.
Banes and Noble is pretty calm but you do have a few people that make it hard.
Change is tough but can be worthwhile. I worked in a pharmacy through 2018 and was on my feet 6-8 hours for the whole 4 years except a 30 minute lunch. I always got in my steps with the FitBit. Hopefully, you will work things through and start 2022 with even better options.

I worked 6 years at Party City but I was much younger at the time. I am just not built for standing all day. lol.
I am hoping to at least get through the holidays here and finding something so I can start in Jan.
