3.5 Stars #Review ~ Ghostland by Duncan Ralston

I actually really liked this book, the characters were ok and I wasn’t expecting what was going to happen at the end and I love the fact that this story has a lot more to tell. The world is much different, we learn the world finds out the truth about ghosts and what happens next. What we learn isn’t good at all. So what do we do with the knowledge? We open a theme park with the most awful ghost on the planet with the most haunted buildings ever….Jurassic Park anyone? We know how that turned out.

I did get a little Jurassic Park vibe to this story and I love the characters however, I felt they needed a little more build to them. This book is about 150 pages too long and if they filled those pages with character and world build I would have been ok with it. Like I got what was going on and I understood a bit of the world but I didn’t understand why these two kids were even going to the park at all. Ben dies and is brought back (not a spoiler) and apparently Lillian couldn’t handle that and basically turned her back on him. Which I didn’t fully understand. Like he didn’t die, I think I would have been happy about that. Lillian sees a therapist and they all decided to one day go to the opening of Ghostland because why not.

The  evil in the book, I needed a little more information on him. While again I get it but it was sort of treated like we know the guy and the books he writes and the movies he made. However I didn’t and I don’t so I needed a little more about him.

I do want to point out the Penis scenes weren’t needed, like they didn’t add one thing to this story and that entire naked lady penis mutilator could have just been left out. I get we want gory and there was enough of that in this book but Penis Chick was weird and Bens erection made me uncomfortable.

Overall

I actually did like this book, while I can’t lie and say it didn’t have some issues, I would be happy to read a second book as long as they leave out penises and erections. Really just can’t even get why that was in this book. Anyway, totally would recommend but keeps it Adult, I wouldn’t allow teens under the age of 18 reading this book…because naked lady penis mutilator.
