This feature is for short reviews, reviews of books in a series where it might feel repetitive, or (as Michelle suggested) books I was too lazy to write a “real” review for. Today’s books are the conclusion of the Georgina Kincaid series.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

four-stars

Georgina Kincaid has formidable powers. Immortality, seduction, shape-shifting into any human form she desires, walking in heels that would cripple mere mortals -- all child's play to a succubus like her.
Helping to plan her ex-boyfriend's wedding is a different story. Georgina isn't sure which is worse -- that Seth is marrying another woman, or that Georgina has to run all over Seattle trying on bridesmaid dresses. Still, there are distractions. Georgina's roommate, Roman, is cluttering her apartment with sexual tension. Then there's Simone, the new succubus in town, who's intent on corrupting Seth.
But the real danger lies in the mysterious force that's visiting her thoughts, trying to draw her into a dark, otherworldly realm. Sooner or later, Georgina knows she'll be too weak to resist. And when that happens, she'll discover who she can trust, who she can't -- and that Hell is far from the worst place to spend eternity...

This book was good but frustrating for me. It had lots of things going on that just made me sad. And I really wanted to smack Georgina a couple of times. But the story arch came so far that despite the character frustrations, it was a really solid read.

I think my main frustration was the way Georgina can’t seem to move on from Seth. I’m sorry, I know he’s the hero – THE ONE – but he’s made some bad choices and I don’t really think they’re great for each other. Roman is such a good guy IMO — yeah he’s made some bad choices too, but I feel like his were out of necessity – and I wish she would see him the way she sees Seth. Especially because of the destined heartbreak for so many with her going after Seth.

Stepping away from the romance of this book though – if you care for the secondary characters the way I do, this book pulled on the heart strings! And as far as plot progressing – wow did some things happen… along with lots of hints of things to come! And we are left on a GIANT cliff. I can’t say much without spoiling and I will admit, I jumped RIGHT into the next book, so if it weren’t for my buddy reading chat with Anne I probably wouldn’t have anything to tell you. You definitely want to have the next book when you finish this one.

I really enjoyed Elisabeth Rodgers narration again. She’s done a great job with this series and has made these characters come to life for me. I’ve enjoyed reading each one at 2x speed, comfortably devouring them in a few days.

4 stars Pretty Great

🎧 Just a Few: Georgina Kincaid #COYERSuccubus Revealed by Richelle Mead

four-half-stars

In Georgina Kincaid, succubus and she-demon, #1 New York Times bestselling author Richelle Mead has created one of her most enticing characters. But with a shot at love, and maybe even redemption, is the ultimate seductress finally going soft? Like hell she is. . .
Georgina Kincaid has had an eternity to figure out the opposite sex, but sometimes they still surprise her. Take Seth Mortensen. The man has risked his soul to become Georgina's boyfriend. Still, with Lucifer for a boss, Georgina can't just hang up her killer heels and settle down to domestic bliss. In fact, she's being forced to transfer operations. . .to Las Vegas.
The City of Sin is a dream gig for a succubus, but Georgina's allies are suspicious. Why are the powers-that-be so eager to get her away from Seattle and from Seth? Georgina is one of Hell's most valuable assets, but if there's any way out of the succubus business she plans to take it, no matter how much roadkill she leaves behind. She just hopes the casualties won't include the one man she's risking everything for. . .

Okay, that’s the way to end a series! The last book ended on a bit of a cliff, so I was eager to jump in and I’m glad I did. The last 25% was gripping and I really couldn’t stop (thankfully I didn’t have to).

If you’ve read my other reviews of this series, you may recall that Georgina frustrates me. She is not my most favorite heroine. She just is frustrating in that she knows so little about her world and she makes very immature decisions — in both cases, especially because of her age. And Seth — I liked him and then he made some really bad decisions (repeatedly) and I liked him less. So yeah – not my favorite hero either. And that’s why this is a 4.5 vs 5 star read. I wasn’t as invested in the main characters and eagerly hoping for their HEA.

That said, I also didn’t want them to not get their HEA. And I was so curious about Gerogina’s contract situation. I have to admit, I was impressed with Richelle Mead when pieces started coming together – we’ve been getting hints and tidbits all along and I didn’t realize it. It was really neat to see it all come together. And when things started moving it was like a sprint to the finish line – in a good way. Just lots of layers unfolded in really neat ways.

Also, I really enjoyed so many of the secondary characters and was glad to see more of them in this book. Particularly Seth’s family. But also Roman (who really grew on me over the course of the series). And the vampires. And Carter. LOL! I feel like I can’t say much more without spoiling things. But I like a lot of the secondary characters and wouldn’t mind a spin off series.

The narration was a great point for this series. Elisabeth Rodgers delivers a really solid performance for all the characters, adding personality and making this a fun quick read for me!

4.5 stars I loved it
