My Review:
On a serious middle grade kick lately and this was a very good book. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I really enjoyed the imagination of Cecilia’s world. Cecilia can talk to animals, well sort of, she understands them and they understand her but she doesn’t tell anyone fearing that people with think she was crazy. When she saves the dog next door and gets whisked away in her balloon attic into the scary Northwood only to find people living there but not being able to leave, it’s up to Cecilia to help them escape the king.
I am in LOVE with this cover and I am not sure why I didn’t realize it but it also had some really cool illustrations inside that added a lot to the story. This book has a mix of scary moments, action, humor and just plain fun. I loved how strong the character Cecilia was and how no matter what was going on she was determined to fix it. This book was a quick read for me, I had a hard time putting it down since I really wanted to find out what would happen to Cecilia next and I love the twist at the end. This book was so very good.
I strongly recommend this book for middle grade readers or anyone looking for a good story with beautiful illustration and a strong character.

Hope you have a great day and Happy Reading!
Cecilia sounds like a great character for middle graders. And I love that she can communicate with animals. I’ll have to check out this one sometime. 🙂
Her name is Cecelia Undergarment? That right there tells me there’s some good humor in this book, Michelle! I don’t read much middlegrade, but if I feel like picking one up, I’ll make sure Northwood is on my shelf 🙂
I hope you’re having a fantastic week!
She is a great MC. It was such a different story and so fun. I really enjoy middle grades that have illustrations in them.
I love this cover, it definitely is a pretty one! It got my attention when I was scrolling through my facebook feed.
And the main character can understand animals? That’s so cool! I always like it when MG books have illustrations as they can really add to the story. Cecilia sounds like a great main character. Great review!
