News at Home: COVID Quarantine Week 19
Not a lot new happening here (which is kind of a relief, new seems to equal stressful lately). Work is keeping me busy and I had several meetings this week, which is always a little stressful with Dante. Speaking of Dante, he is getting too smart for his own good. This week he figured out how to pull his baby cam off the wall from his crib (despite all the cord gaurds and everything!), so his crib has been moved where he can’t reach it. He also figured out how to push in the wall of his “baby prison” so he can crawl to the other side of the room, so we’ve had to tie the sides to anchors. I’m sure there’s more I’m missing but this smart boy is giving me a run for my money.
We’re also thinking it’s time to stop the dream feed (Kiko wakes him up at 11:30 to feed him a final bottle so he’ll sleep all night). This week, waking him has been super hard and all he’s drinking is like 1 – 2 ounces. No one gets full off 1-2 ounces… so he probably could have made it all night. We’re thinking of trying it, but it’s nerve racking because if he wakes at 3 a.m. hungry that’s going to make for a very rough day.
Yesterday we ended up going to visit Franky and his family. They quarantine like we do and Kiko works with Franky’s mom, Tequilla, so they are getting the same exposure we are (and vice versa) through those two working together. It’s been over a month since we saw them, so it was nice. Dante had a great time with everyone, but especially Franky. It’s like he just KNOWS that’s his big brother. He stayed up to play and cuddle and didn’t even fall asleep on the drive home. So he ended up going to sleep around 9:30! He’s usually asleep around 7:30/7:45. We gave him a bottle with a couple extra ounces in it and let him sleep all night – he didn’t wake up until 7:30 (instead of his normal 6:30). So I’m thinking, based on last night, that we’re not quite ready to ditch the dream feed. He slept about 10 hours and I need him to sleep 11. I don’t know, it’s all very tricky. He also may have woken up because he pooed and that will wake anyone up, right? LOL!
Oh and my garden is still looking pretty nice! The Zinnia I planted a few weeks ago is coming along and I’m hoping to see some buds in a week or so. I have 4 more tomatoes that look like they might be ready to turn red/orange. And my Jalepano might actually start turning those buds into some peppers. I hope. My hanging plant (I forget what it’s called, it’s an annual) is really giving us some pretty pink, purple and white flowers. All-in-all it’s a nice oasis to sit in every morning. And so far, I seem to be successful in keeping Dante from the plants!
That’s it over here… just trying to make it through day-by-day.
Blog News
I actually had posts this week!!! I didn’t do great visiting though :/ I’m trying, I just don’t have the time I used to pre-COVID (and even then I was a bit sporatic). I’m hoping to have some time to blog today.
Michelle and I decided that COYER Quarantine’s theme (which was scheduled to end at the ed of August) will continue, seeing as COVID hasn’t really let up yet. We’ll have a great celebration when we can truly change the theme.
Reading is up and down. I love my audio reread of In Death, but every book I pick up is kind of blah for me. I just can’t get into them. I am enjoying watching junk TV though… right now, “Married at First Sight: Happily Ever After?” is good background noise 🙂

I love seeing your pictures of Dante on IG. He is getting so big!
A regular week is a good week. It’s good Dante is so smart even if it is more challenging for you. He goes to bed so early. I always did Kelly’s last breast feed at 10 pm and went to bed right after it. Her dad stayed up with her for another hour, then I got her up at 6 am to feed her again. She went back to sleep while I got ready for work. I guess that since she only got about 8 hours of sleep it’s no wonder she slept 4 hours like clockwork in the daytime. She was always willing to sleep anytme really. I hope you find some great reads this week!
