News at Home
The big news this week – we have SNOW! For those that don’t remember/know I’m in the Dallas metroplex, so for us that’s a huge deal. The forecast for snow starting on Thursday had everyone deciding to close down and I had notices from all Dante’s schools/programs by Wednesday at 5pm saying they would be closed on Thursday. Thankfully my husband was also able to stay home, since my job is work from home and we don’t get weather days really. So he took care of Dante and I locked myself in my office for the day. I was so productive not having to worry about going all over the place to pick Dante up and drop him off places. It was a nice break from juggling so much. And it continued on Friday as we got snow all day Thursday and while other areas accustomed to the weather probably wouldn’t have thought twice about it, for us it’s a complete shut down.
I took Dante out in the snow for about 20 minutes. I don’t like the cold or snow but I wanted to let him experience it. Well turns out he is MY SON. He was not into it at all and very happy to come back inside. He didn’t hate it but he prefers to watch it from inside. And we haven’t gone back out into it since LOL. My dog also isn’t a fan and when I let her out to use the restroom she looked at me like “WTF is this shit?” We’re very much a warm weather family.
Blog News
Look at me, two weeks in a row! Thanks to everyone who stopped by and commented last week, it’s good to be back. I’m taking this one step at a time so please know that I am reading comments but have not figured out how to make space for replying in a timely fashion quite yet. I did reply just about a week later lol!
I am going to attempt a post for Monday on what I’m reading – I used to participate in that meme and it could be fun to try again. We’ll see.
The big news though – COYER opened up a Discord server on Friday! We have used Facebook for our community but in light of recent policy changes we didn’t feel it was ethically responsible to operate a group where we believe in inclusivity exclusively in an environment where all people can’t feel protected. We haven’t left Facebook because we know not everyone is ready to make the switch and we want to give people time. It’s a plan to eventually shut it down, but we’ll see on timeline. I personally am not using Facebook anymore and am on Bluesky (though I don’t really post there). This is me: https://bsky.app/profile/berls.bsky.social
As for the discord server – I don’t actually know that we want to post the server link on our blog as I don’t know how to restrict who joins and I don’t know if bots and spammers are a discord thing. I’d be shocked if they aren’t. Until we figure that out (and if you know anything about Discord and want to share let me know), you can either go to our Facebook group, which is private, to get the discord server link or email us at coyerchallenge@gmail.com for the link. Oh! And you can also send me a message directly on Discord. My username is berlssc.
#FitReaders2025
Felicia the Geeky Blogger and Jen @ That’s What I’m Talking About co-host this fitness-oriented group and I’m glad to be part of it for another year.
My main health goal for 2025:
I will prioritize my physical well-being by establishing and maintaining consistent daily health routines the support my body’s needs.
This week: We got back into the grind this week, sort of thanks to the snow day. It was actually a nice soft return in a sense lol. I wanted to focus on the habits I’ve been working on. I got in my 80oz of water every day and I did my 3 strength workouts. My daily journaling has been such a blessing and I’m glad to be back at it.
Next week: I want to continue with those routines from last week. I have been really trying to prioritize getting in enough protein each day, so that will be a focus as the routines hold strong.
In 2024 december 2 was diagnosed with herpes virus and I tried every possible means to cure it but everything was at a standstill until I saw a post on a health forum about a herbal medicine that could cure all kinds of diseases including herpes virus. At first I doubted if it was real but I decided to try it. When I contacted him he said it was real., that he will send the herbal medicine via Korea Service . I got it within two weeks. I followed the instructions and it works like magic. Does anyone here need his help too? should contact him via solutiontempledrogugu@gmail.com or whatsapp +2347011196745
That is so neat that you got some snow and Dante got to experience it first hand at home like that. My daughter really wants to go someplace where there’s snow. She’s experienced snow brought in from the mountains for winter festivals, but it’s not the same. I am like you in that I don’t particularly like the cold and snow. It’s pretty to look at from inside or in pictures though. 🙂
I don’t really post too much on Facebook anymore, but I don’t see myself leaving given how many family members I have on there–and that’s our main way to stay in touch . I am debating whether I want to leave up my Facebook blog page. I am terrible about updating it when my blog posts go up, so letting it go wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing. I really like Threads, which is tied to Meta, so that’s another aspect I have to consider. I’m on BlueSky, but it’s so busy that I feel overwhelmed when I’m there. I just have to get used to it, I’m sure. Even though I’ve had a Discord account for a few years now, I really can’t say I know much about it. I followed COYER over though. 🙂
I hope you have a great week, Berls!
I saw you were having snow in Texas too! We got a bunch here in Missouri. I have no idea how to work Discord. And I refuse to give up Facebook because of all the authors and family I would probably never get a chance to talk to or see how they are doing without it. But I did go follow you on BlueSky! I need to do more on there I guess. Need to figure out how to set up to have people follow me on there as well. I need to figure out how to get some blogs, like yours, that I get an email update when you post. Right now that is how I make sure to visit! Hope you have a good week, and glad to have you back. I say blog as you want to, make sure it is something you enjoy!
So glad you are here. Even if you can’t make it every week I hope you manage at least once a month. I was surprised how easy it was to set up most of the Discord stuff. Oddly I am now having trouble with Instagram and Threads logins and maybe someone is trying to hack those accounts. Lulu is not a fan and our snow didn’t all melt yesterday.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Oh wow! Snow in Dallas! I didn’t really think that was something that happened! When I think Texas I’m always thinking very warm! Lol. We got snow as well, which living in the Midwest means it’s not super irregular but for our area we’re still unprepared. I think we just don’t have enough manpower to plow the streets and it’s just a nightmare trying to get out if you need to. Which a lot of people do need to, luckily I work from home so I didn’t have to battle that! I do prefer the colder temps though as our summers are hot, humid, and insanely long. We get 4 seasons, but it’s more like half summer, half winter with a week or two of spring and fall. So it’s always the extremes and if I have to pick between the two, I chose winter because I can layer up to be comfortable wherein summer, I can only suffer.
Hope you have a great week ahead! And yay for blogging again!
