Sunday
I’m still working on my Bujo for 2022, I pretty much finished everything I had left today. I’m waiting until I talk to my nutritionist tomorrow to work on my affirmations and then I’ll get that page done. I did that this morning, along with some play time with Dante. Around 1:30 I headed out to meet some friends, we did a holiday themed escape rom — perfect activity because you’re in a space with only the people you trust (aka vaccinated, social distancers). It was a lot of fun and we beat it with about 5 minutes to spare. Then I picked up groceries, finished laundry, took down all the Christmas decorations and got things ready for tomorrow. Hoping to really get fully into my routines this week, so that next week when my bootcamp starts I’ll be ready!
Monday
I have not found my rhythm yet with my new routine… but I do think it’s because I’m still trying to take care of some straggler items from the past couple weeks. Today was a bit hectic, especially because we had a major issue come up at work. But it was an otherwise good day. I made it to the gym – even with Omicron, I just can’t not go. It’s more than my physical health, it’s my emotional health too. But I’m working out in a mask and socially distancing as much as possible. I also had my session with my nutritionist today. It was really productive and I think I might be joining a program she has that will allow me to have twice weekly sessions plus a community. I think it’s going to be really good for me – I’m going to decide on it this week and, assuming I decide to do it (I think I will), it will kick off on Sunday.
Tuesday
Another day where I feel like I lacked focus. I just have too many directions that I’m trying to go with my mind right now! I had therapy today and she really helped me take what I did with my nutritionist and go the next level. They’ve both honed in on my problem of being a perfectionist and I’m starting to see how I built my perfectionism into my goals for the year… which means I’ve set myself up to fail. But I’m realizing it and doing some tweaking! Also got to meet up with a friend today – we met for coffee and had a nice long chat. Altogether an okay day!
Wednesday
So we got new neighbors downstairs on the 1st and they seem to have brought roaches with them. I’m ready to lose my mind. I’m obsessively clean. I vacuum daily, for example, because I have a toddler that makes food messes. And now, I’m waking up in the morning to find roaches!!! I set bait traps because I have a dog and a toddler so I’m a little limited on what I can safely do. I’m praying that because it does take some time for them to work it’s not a failed attempt. But tonight I actually threw out my wine fridge because of roaches. I probably could have cleaned it because obviously they haven’t been there long, so probably aren’t too infested, but it’s not a chance I’m willing to take. I can’t live like this. Next step, burn the place down.
I’m kidding. Sort of.
Thursday
I spent today with my brother and zach again (working from home at their place). It was a good day, though fairly busy. Zach and Phil went out last night and got really drunk so 1- they had to Uber home and I drove Zach to pick up his car this morning and 2 – Phil was a bit sick until about noon or so. Besides that I had a couple meetings and we grabbed Sonic lunch and just sat around talking a bit. It’s gotten pretty cold here (20s & 30s, which is super cold for us) and I’m starting to get nervous about the electricity, last year really left its mark on me. We’ve really already done all we can to be prepared, short of buying a generator which isn’t exactly practical for an apartment. I’m feeling very scattered and not at all focused like I normally am at the start of the year… I hope that’s not a bad sign for my ability to reach my goals for the year.
Friday
Today was a good day. Besides the normal work and such – I took Buffy to her new vet and I was really happy with them. They aren’t letting people in because of COVID, so I dropped her off and picked her up an hour later. They called me when they finished with her to tell me everything and they also texted updates. So very happy and will stick with them moving forward. Then this evening Kiko and I had date night. We’ve been planning it since last year, we arranged with Phil and Zach that they will start babysitting once every 4-6 weeks so Kiko and I can have some time just the two of us. We just went out to dinner, so it was just like 1.5 hours that we were gone. And then they hung out with us after. A really nice night. Dante is getting to bed super late, but worth it once in a while ๐
Saturday
Today was another good day. Dante let us sleep way in. I woke up at 9:30 and was shocked to find that he was just stirring — probably the reason I woke up. It was nice to sleep in. We had breakfast – I made eggs and pancakes – and played a bit. I also finally watched the Harry Potter Reunion. I enjoyed it, though there were a lot of my favorite characters not present. Then I did grocery order – was shocked to find that Walmart was booked until Monday, so I’m getting all my groceries from Target this week. Then I cleaned bathrooms and started laundry. After that, it was time to head out to Campbell to see Franky. It was his mom’s birthday yesterday and they had a party today. It was a fun time though I’m feeling pretty tired and run down, so I was also really ready to be home. It sucks they live so far, since it means an hour drive home already tired. But Dante had a great time running around outside in his Mickey Mouse rainboots he got for his birthday. All in all, a good day and I can’t complain.

My big goal for 2022 is to lose weight every month. I’m not setting a specific number goal; I just need to make sure I’m going the right direction (down) every month. I will weigh in on the last day of each month only (so I don’t get too attached to the scale).
How I’m getting there in January 2022:
I’m not 100% sure yet lol. I made a list in my bujo of go to meals and I’m going to try and stick to them. I also joined this program from my nutritionist but I JUST got the details yesterday so I’m not fully up-to date with that. I do have 3 main goals right now:
- I joined Step Bet and starting this upcoming week I have to reach my step goals 6/7 days to stay in the prize running (and not lose my $40 buy in).
- I’m not drinking any soda.
- Drink 8 glasses of water every day.
I also came up with a plan for whenever I eat something off plan… since I tend to spiral and make a not-so-great-choice truly awful. I will report back on how that goes next week.
Added to My Shelf
A lot of these books I actually received over the past few weeks, but I just now logged them as received.
I was dragging butt right there with you! I think I tried really hard not to make the new year a big thing this year because the last few have been such garbage. I think it was almost a “I’m setting my expectations real low so when the inevitable really bad thing happens I won’t be disappointed” type defense mechanism. It sounds like you have most of your stuff in line by the end of the week though!
I love your goals and the fact that you are giving yourself some grace this year. That is some real genuine growth, speaking from one perfectionist to another. ๐ Best of luck with your Step Bet!
You had a busy but productive week. I am loving your haul. Be safe and happy reading!
Thanks! Yes, lots of goodies <3 Have a great, safe week!!
I’m glad you were able to work with a therapist and nutritionist this week and get some good vibes going! That is awesome.
I would burn the whole apartment building down to the ground. I don’t do bugs. Nope, nope, nope.
LOL I’m on the same page as you Samantha. My husband didn’t seem to think that would go over, but I’m on board with the burning down. Thankfully he works here and was able to have them spray the whole building this week. Unfortunately he also reported to me that the downstairs neighbors are not clean ๐ — how do people live that way?!? — so I will be maintaining roach bait stations for as long as they live there so that any that try to make their way into our place die before they can nest! EWW right?!? The good news is, I have noticed a decline since we got rid of the wine fridge and as of today, no sightings yet. So I think we kicked them!!
Do you live in an apartment? Maybe calling the manager and asking for your apartment and all the apartments around you to be sprayed for roaches could help.
Yeah we do, that’s the problem ๐ My husband works here and immediately had them call pest control to come out. So they came and sprayed this week, but he also said the new neighbors are messy, so we’re going to have to be extra diligent about keeping roach bait to keep them out. The good news is, they’ve been declining since I got rid of my wine fridge AND none today so far!! Fingers crossed we kicked them!
So glad the sessions with the therapist and the nutritionist are going well. Good way to start the year. Ack on the roaches! So lame when you know theyโre coming from elsewhere which means itโs out of your control. So gross. Hooray for the date night! What a treat. I enjoyed the HP Reunion but I missed a few favorites too, especially Julie Walters (Mrs. Weasley).
Yes! I was sad to not see her and Maggie Smith the most I think. Of course Alan Rickman is profoundly missed ๐
Thank you, both sessions were a great way to start the year for sure!! And I think (HOPE) we’ve kicked the roaches – none today so far!!
Well that’s a busy week. I think the planning and goal setting is great but that is also tiring because it requires thought and analysis. I tend to do that consistently, improving my plans as I go. But I was especially tired this last week. I hope it all goes well.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I do goal setting consistently as well, but I do a more thorough evaluation and reset at the end/start of a new year. I agree, though, it can be exhausting! Hope you’re having a great week Anne!
The escape room sounds fun! My daughter would like to do that for her birthday this year. I sure hope we can. She hasn’t been able to get together with friends for her birthday the last couple of years. I am so sorry about the roaches. Ugh. I hope the problems gets resolved (hopefully the new neighbors are doing their part too). It sounds like your year has gotten off to a promising start, Berls. I wish you the best with your goals. Have a great week!
I hope Mouse gets to have an escape room for her birthday – and at least get to see her friends! – thank goodness she’s at least vaccinated now, that should help.
Thank you! I don’t know if the neighbors are doing their part – my husband’s view (he works here) is that they are pretty messy ๐ – but on the positive, they have been gradually declining and today I haven’t seen any!! So I hope we kicked them and I’ll just stay diligent about bait traps with these new neighbors.
Have a great week!
WOW! Sounds like a busy but good start to your year. I started the new year with a new laptop – my old Macbook couldn’t run without being plugged in and it had gotten so slow. I’m loving the update/upgrade. It’s so fast and sleek! Our weather has been crazy here – 50 one day and snow the next. We are going to have sub zero temps coming soon, so I’ll be inside most of the time. Also, I was able to do a couple meditations. I need to have a designated space where I won’t get disturbed -that’s what’s been keeping me from doing it more.
Yay for the new laptop, I’m glad you’re enjoying it!! Our weather has been crazy too -no snow (thank goodness) but all over the map. Good l uck with your meditation, having a designated space is definitely important.
Oh, goodness, roaches. The very sight of them (even in pictures) makes me sick, so I can’t even imagine dealing with them (actually, I can…we had a similar emergency when I was a kid…but I think I was less impressionable back then LOL).. I hope you’ll manage to exterminate them soon! (channeling Doctor Who’s Daleks here ๐).
Good luck with all your goals!
LOL!!! I know, I feel the same way about roaches. This morning I haven’t seen any – they’re presence has been declining daily since I got rid of the wine fridge – so I think (HOPE) we got rid of them. I think with these new neighbors I’m going to have to maintain bait traps though, they don’t seem too clean.
Oh the roaches thing seriously creeps me out! I’m not a bug person and even finding one tiny spider in my room sends me in a tizzy and I freak out! Hopefully things will get better and cleaner so that’s not an issue for much longer.
Nice new reads! I also got In Every Generation and I cannot wait to read it! Going to try to get it into my queue sooner rather than later! And oooh Halfway to the Grave! I ADORE this series! Super excited since this year Jeaniene is releasing The Other Side of the Grave which will be Halfway from the Grave from Bones’ point of view! Hope you enjoy all the lovely new reads!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
