News at Home: The one with jury duty
This week was mostly uneventful. Which tells you that we really have gotten into a good rhythm. I’ve been at my job for 2 months now, which means Dante has been at daycare for 2 months. Hard to believe, time is just flying by.
The only real disruption to my normal week this week was jury duty on Thursday. I didn’t have to report until 12:30, but my boss told me to just take the day. (I’m still blown away by little things like that… teaching it would have been awful for me to take just a half day!). It was just city court, so had I served, it would have been a simple case like a city ordinance violation. But I sat around for a couple hours and then they released us. So Thursday was mostly me relaxing. I spent the morning with Dante and we went by the office for a bit. Then I took him to daycare, ran some errands, and then went to a coffee shop by the court house to sit and make some phone calls I needed to take care of. Then I went to the courthouse – read for a couple hours – and when I was released, I decided to go to half price books and read some more, until picking Dante up at his regular time. It was a super relaxing day.
And since I get paid for 8 hours from jury duty and had worked through 2 lunches that week, I still got off work on Friday at 3! Which meant I got to go to book club! So yeah, great easy work week.
Saturday I saw my doula for the first time since Dante was a couple weeks old. She needed to get some of the books I had borrowed to give to a client with a baby due beginning of March. It was great to see her and fun to show her how big Dante’s gotten. Then Kiko, Dante, and I ran some errands and went to IHOP for breakfast. Dante does so well at restaurants – he’s just such a good baby. Then we stopped by Franky’s and hung out with the family for a few hours.
Today I plan to clean (I always clean on Sundays), get groceries delivered and meal prep. My brother is also planning on coming over to help me with Adobe Illustrator – I need to get semi-proficient with it super fast for work. Oh – speaking of my brother – he started a new job this week… and got a job offer that he REALLY wanted. So he’s giving 2 weeks lol! Months of searching and BAM 3 job offers in 2 weeks. That’s how it always goes, I guess. I’m super happy for him, though.
Blog News
I keep having a lot more going on than expected, so I keep not getting as much blogging done midweek as I would like. But I did manage to do some visiting and to write a few posts this week, so not too bad.
COYER is going super well for me, still. As of writing this, I’m almost done with a buddy read with Brandee (I’m hoping to finish it tonight… Saturday) to round out the Buddy Reading Read-a-thon. I feel like I’m doing better this COYER than I’ve done in a long time.

Sounds like an amazing week! I’m so glad the new job is working out so well for you! I know that was a tough decision.
I’ve been called for jury duty several times but never got chosen. It’s great that you are enjoying your new job. I’m really liking mine too!
I am so happy you are liking your new job, sounds like it much less stressful than when you were teaching. Really cool how accommodating they were with your jury duty and glad you got released and could have some down time for yourself!
Have a great week and happy reading!

I am glad the jury duty day gave you a chance to relax. It sounds like everything is going well for you! I am so glad to hear it. I hope you have a great week, Berls.
Nice that you got the whole day off for jury duty – and then got released. An unexpected day off is such a treat. And congrats to your brother. How awesome that he got offered the job he wanted. Good things happening for both of you! 🙂
I think you are having amazing weeks! It’s all about priorities. It really helps that you were able to get a really good job which works better for your family. Those little bits like Thursday morning and being able to finish by 3 on Friday, and not work on the weekend make such a difference.

Sounds like a really good week and glad things are in a steady rhythm for you. Yay for easy jury duty and your brother’s new job.
Nicely done with COYER this go around. Isn’t it fun with the buddy reading? I haven’t done as much as you, but I’ve enjoyed the times I’ve done it. 🙂
Have a good week, Berls!
