News at Home

Sunday

Today was pretty good. I spent a couple hours on the phone with Michelle this morning – always great to chat with her. Then I did a grocery pickup, carwash, and got gas. Came home and played with Dante a bit, did some reading and finished laundry (didn’t get it put away though) to get ready for the week. Also setup my bullet journal for the week and I’m really hopeful that this week will be better than the last couple.

Monday

So I woke up at almost 4 am and couldn’t get back to sleep. Not the most motivating way to start the day. I ended up reading in bed on my Kindle until just before 6 (the hope had been I’d drift off to sleep, but no dice). I got up at 6 though and did my full miracle morning, including my bullet journal. Today was kind of a crazy day – Dante had his appointment with the developmental pediatrician finally (from the June referral). The appointment was virtual and at 11 a.m. but I actually had meetings this morning and this afternoon, so I had to take Dante to daycare at 8, pick him up at 10:45, do the appointment and drop him back off at 12:15. It was disruptive for his schedule but he did well. And the appointment went really great. In short, they think he’s making great progress and while they want to keep an eye on things they aren’t too concerned about anything like Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which had been one of my concerns. They want us to keep doing what we’re doing and then have another appointment with them in 5-6 months. I think I had been really anxious (probably why I woke up at 4am!) so it was a nice relief. I’m exhausted though and going to try and get to sleep a little earlier tonight.

Tuesday

So this morning was rough – I was feeling super emotional about a few things and was actually relieved when Dante’s therapy canceled. I dropped him off and basically commenced sobbing. I ended up napping on the couch for about an hour and I just never really got myself focused. I had a pretty bad headache all day – probably from the crying, possibly also from not drinking enough water, etc. I had made plans two weeks ago to get together with a friend for happy hour and I decided not to cancel despite feeling shitty. I’m glad I didn’t, we had a nice time. Then I got Dante from daycare and we had a nice dinner and playtime. Dante grabbed the broom tonight, along with the dustpan and started sweeping. It was adorable!

Wednesday – Thursday

Dante decided to wake up earlier than usual Wednesday morning… 7am rather than me waking him at 7:45 am. So we were out the door early, which was a good thing because it was raining cats and dogs and I had to go into the office. I had a decent day, actually busy with meetings and I also did some schoolwork. I was able to leave at 3:15 and head to my brother’s to hang out a bit. I’m trying to decide my next move towards a job in coding – I’ve considered some camps but so far they aren’t looking like they’ll work with me having a full time job. But Phil and Zach have been helping me consider options.

Someone in Dante’s class has lice! EEK. Thankfully Michelle had told me to spray Dante’s hair with this Rosemary spray and I use it every morning. And so far, he seems to be lice free. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

Thursday I worked from home and didn’t have much to do. I did some more school work and  a little bit of cleaning while listening to an audio book. My brother had gifted me a massage at Massage Envy and I was able to use it today. It was so nice – I miss getting massages regularly. I’m wondering if I can put it back into my budget. After my massage I had to stop at the store to pickup fruit for Dante’s Halloween party at school tomorrow. I didn’t want to get it earlier so that it would be good and fresh.

Thursday evening was nice. We finished Parenthood and even though it was the second time I’ve watched the series finale, I still cried like a baby. Love that show so much. We’re starting Yellowstone next.

Friday

I woke up this morning feeling like the clouds had finally lifted and I was ready to get back to life. Crazy how something just clicks all of a sudden huh? I spent most of the day – between my miracle morning, work, and after work at my brother’s – making goals and plans for the upcoming months. I’ve decided that I do want to get back to the gym but the gym I had been going to (and love) just doesn’t fit my needs any more. The schedule just isn’t conducive to my life. So I did some searching and a found a gym I’m going to try out.

I also spent some time really thinking about the next steps in my career decisions, with the help of my brother and his partner. I’ve decided to finish this semester at community college and then enroll in a boot camp that will take from January to June to get me more hirable in web development. I’m also most likely going to accept the position that I was on the fence about – my thoughts are that the extra income can pay for the boot camp and also help me get in a better financial position for when I transition to developer, since that will take a couple years before I can bring in the income I really want / need to reach our financial goals- like buying a home, taking family vacations, paying for Dante’s college later, and hell maybe even retiring lol.

Dante had his Halloween pajama party at school today. I signed up for fruit – so I brought strawberries, grapes, apple slices, and blueberries. At drop off I noticed no one ever signed up to bring pizza… And remembering my teaching days I had a feeling the teacher was going to end up buying it. So I told her I’d get some pizza delivered at party time. Seeing as she thanked me like 5 times already, I’m guessing that was her plan. And daycare teachers make even less than I did! Anyway, he had a great day of treats and dancing and Halloween fun and I’m super appreciative of them – least we parents can do is provide the party food.

We had a nice evening as well and I’m feeling really positive about things. Hoping to maintain this positivity.

Saturday

Dante woke up at 5:30 today. And he was truly up, no getting back to sleep. So I went through the morning in a sleep deprived haze. I did do some work setting up my bullet journal for November though. When Kiko woke up I went to the bedroom and crashed for an hour.

Then we headed out to a vaccinated only Halloween party at Franky’s place in Campbell (1 hour away). It was costumes – Dante was Aquaman, Kiko was Batman, and I was Wonder Woman. I know Tequilla took pictures, so I’m hoping to share on IG this week. I had a few shots and drinks – it was a lot of fun but I danced like I was still in my 20s and my knees are feeling it this morning.

We left around 11pm so we got home super late (after midnight).. My main plan for Sunday is REST.

  1. I haven’t had a massage since one of the times COVID restrictions were first lifted. Then we went back into lockdown and I haven’t been back even though I could now.

There’s no party without pizza! lol That was nice of you to get.
