Sign Ups and a Slump…or maybe not~ WIR & TSP

Posted December 6, 2015 by Michelle in The Sunday Post, WIReadview / 22 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog & Real Life:

So I must have never turned off the snow from last year and while looking at comments I noticed it was snowing on my blog. For a second I thought I was going nuts then I remembered during the month of December it snows on your blog. πŸ™‚ At least it’s snowing someplace because the weather here has been so stupid I want to cry. I want cold and snow, not sun and warm, if I wanted that I would move to Florida!!! πŸ™‚

I did almost all of my Christmas Shopping and I am almost done, BUT my kids wanted to get a hamster. Well they wanted two hamsters but they usually end up fighting as they get older and I don’t want two cages, I already have that for the hermit crabs. SO I found these little buggers called Robo Hamsters or Roborovski Hamsters. They are SO CUTE but they are fast little guys, they can be tamed but it takes a bit of time and they are social so you can have more then one. I thought problem solved, but nope now we are fighting over which kind we want, two boys or two girls. Still also trying to figure out when to get them, if I should just buy the cage and wait until after Christmas to get the Hamsters or get the cage and Hamster but I have no place to put them until Christmas Eve. Well I might be able to find a place but I have a little bit of time to think it over yet. Have any of you had Roborovski Hamsters?

Robo Hamster :)
Robo Hamster, I was loving this little girl, I watched her for 20 minutes run back and forth until she stopped to eat. (I actually typed read instead of eat, I would have totally bought her on the spot if she was reading)

OH and I found my Christmas lights, these don’t burn your cornea. They were the same as the old ones I had. I told my husband and he said “don’t take down the tree, that is ridiculous, just leave it how it is, use them next year”. He will be at the Jets game today, guess what I will be doing. πŸ˜‰ Next year my ass, my eyeballs are killing me!!!

Also got a new client for Limabean Designs, it’s an up and coming You Tuber. I got an email from my son (who has his own channel) asking if I could make his logo for him. Don’t ask me why he emailed me since we live in the same house. πŸ˜‰ I told him I would but it would cost him money or a clean room. Believe it or not he told me no to both. LOL I will still do it but I will work on the clean room payment.

This week I really didn’t get as much blogging done as I would have liked since I had to work late a couple of days due to one of my co-workers being out. Looks like next week I might be working late also because he might not be back for a while (he’s sick). I am hoping by the time this posts I will have a made a large dent in my to-do list. I have quite a few posts to get up for next week but they are pretty easy since they are guest posts from some of you lovely people! πŸ™‚

I think I might be in a reading slump, this couldn’t have come at a worse time. I am at 93 books read this year, I was hoping to get to 100, but I can’t seem to find a book I want to read, HOWEVER, just on a whim I picked up Ready Player One and I got the swirly butterflies in my tummy saying that I might really like this book. So fingers crossed for me since I might have stopped a slump before it even started.

If you are still here after this really long post, believe it or not when I started this post I had nothing to write, you are the best πŸ™‚

Two HUGE Sign Ups this week.

  1. Those hamsters are cute! We have had hamsters (but not robo hamsters). They got out of their cage when we were gone for the weekend and it took us a while to find them. But they left a trail of poop all over the house lol. I vowed to never have hamsters again lol. Your new client is being very difficult lol that makes me laugh how kids don’t take us seriously when we talk about money. I’m going to sign up for the challenges and I just need to find time to create the posts. Have a great week Michelle!

  2. I had to giggle when I got to the end of your post and you said you didn’t have anything to talk about when you started it. πŸ˜‰ I’m glad you found robohamsters AND Christmas lights that don’t harm your eyes. πŸ™‚ And that’s neato about your new ‘client’ even if he didn’t agree to payment terms. πŸ˜‰ (that made me giggle as well) And I’m hoping you LOVE Ready Player One. I read a great review of it last week and am anxious to see what you think as well. I think it’s something I’d really enjoy. Have a great week, Michelle! πŸ˜€

  3. I saw Greg at Book Haven’s COYER post and I am going to sign up! Cleaning out my Kindle ebooks is going to be one of my resolutions, so this challenge is perfect. Thanks for hosting it. Have a wonderful week. πŸ™‚

  4. I hope you got through some of your to-do list so aren’t as stressed having to do the extra hours while your colleague is sick.

Glad you found some lights that suit. I have some white fairy lights I have draped over my bookshelf that live there all year round…. but I rarely put them on (but am doing so now!).

  5. The bulk of my shopping will get done Friday when I can drag my hubby along. I still have some online shopping to do, too.

It’s been so long since I had hamsters. My oldest son had a chinchilla. They are really cute! We also had fish (not anymore though) and of course, now we have 3 cats and 3 dogs. I think that’s enough pets. lol

My boys want to be YouTubers. They should hire you to do a logo. I can give references. πŸ˜€

Oh, and I think you’re crazy for the light thing. But that’s why I luvs ya. πŸ˜‰

    • I have few things left to get one being the Hamsters but I am so happy to be done this early.

I think two hamsters will be going over the top, one dog, one cat, 3 hermit crabs, two kids and a husband, you would really think that was all the pets I need πŸ˜‰

I would totally do it for them πŸ™‚ The tree looks fantastic now. I am very happy.

  6. Here it’s cold, but not snow yet. We usually don’t get snow till late december or january if we get any at all. We do have a christmas tree now, so at least it feels like christmas. I haven’t had hamsters so far, but they do look cute. That rad they run around in, looks similiar as the one we had for our rats only a bit smaller. I woud advice to see if you can find a hobby breeder as those often care better for the animals than in a store. Our christmas lights have very difuse light, I would get crazy from too bright christmas lights, so I can understand why you’re getting those down and putting up the new ones.

Oh that’s fun your son send you an e-mail about for a design, I guess sending an e-mail makes it feel a bit more official? I finally got a bit blogging done this week, more than I had hoped for. Those weeks where you don’t get much blogging done are always a bit annoying, I always feel sad when i don’t have time to blog.

I heard great things about Ready Player One, it’s on my to-read list. I hope you’ll enjoy it and it can get you out of your reading slump. Maybe pick up a few short reads, so you can reach your goal of 100? I made my sign-up post for the Bookish Resolutions Challenge, I really enjoyed the challenge this year, so I am excited for next year. Although I will only do quarterly recaps, I hope that’s okay. And I can’t wait for the twitter chats! I hope you have a great week!

    • I posted two videos of how hyper these little ones are but they are so cute, I really want them.

He cracked me up with his email, he was even going to email me his design suggestions, I told him to just tell me lol

Ready Player One is ok so far, we are at a little bit of a slow spot but I think I will like it just need to get a few hours to really get into it.

I still need to do my post for other challenges, I am hoping I will have time today to do that.

  7. I would have totally bought that hamster girl if she was taking a break from running to read, too, Michelle πŸ˜€ We used to have a rabbit, but he died four years ago, and we haven’t had an animal since then. We might get a dog next year, but we’re waiting to see if the mix between my mother’s male dog and a female dog worked… I would love to have my ‘little brother’s’ baby here at home πŸ™‚
We haven’t had any snow either, Michelle, and I live 35 minutes from the French Alps! I want to go skiing! And I totally wrote that while having a slightly whiny voice in my head.
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading.

    • LOL I had rabbits also a long time ago they are fun to have but I had Hamsters even longer ago πŸ™‚ I think it would be fun for the kids. I would totally recommend getting a puppy! Best animal to have they are so lovey.
I want it to snow (in my best whiny voice) I don’t have mountains (so jealous) πŸ™‚

  8. We bought a hamster for one of the kids one Christmas years ago. I think we bought it 2 days before Christmas and hid it on our bathroom . I was very glad to have it out of there! I’m seriously impressed that you got your shopping done already. I got a bunch of people off my list this past week thanks to Etsy but there’s still so much to do!
Glad you busted out of your slump. I go through phases where I’m just kind of meh about all the books and then I find one that clicks and it’s awesome! Have a great week!

    • I would put it in the bathroom but for some reason my kids spend a lot of time in there for a quiet place to be lol. I might be able to put it in the basement but I am not sure how cold it gets in there at night and I don’t want them to be chilly. I will figure it out unless I give it to my parents to hold until Christmas eve and then put it in the basement.

  9. I am happy there is no snow here, so I will wish all the snow to blow up your way and say. πŸ™‚ That is really cute that your son emailed you a request for a logo. πŸ™‚ I only got one review book this week but I got other books too….lol. πŸ™‚

I hope Ready Player One gets you out of your slump! I have not read it but heard it was good.

    Happy reading,
    Stormi

    • He told me when he thinks about it he will email me what he wants. I told him just tell me, he said he wanted it to be more professional πŸ™‚

The book is good so far just a bit of info dump in the beginning and I am hoping the story picks up but I haven’t had a lot of time to really sit and read so I am hoping once I get started and a few more pages in, it will pick up more.

  10. At least it’s snowing somewhere! After the snow we got in Nov (which didn’t last) we’ve been clear- and pretty mild too. I do hope for a white Christmas (as long as it’s not TOO white). LOL.

I haven’t heard of those kind of hamsters, but good luck with them. I wish I was almost done with shopping, haven’t even started yet! Christmas- when is that? LOL.

Your books look cute this week. Hope it’s a good week-and have fun with the lights!
