Turkey, Blogging, Reading and a Cold ~ WIR & SP

Off the Blog:

I hope everyone had a fantastic Turkey Day! We had a nice time at my aunts house, it was nice and quiet.

Friday I spent all day decorating the house. On Thanksgiving my aunt gave me all of my grandmothers decorations. I was able to get her nativity that was made for her by an aunt a long time ago. I love having it in my house since I miss my nanny so much. It’s out first holiday without her. The house looks so nice now and I am enjoying the festive look of the decorations. I think I am coming down with a cold and feel rather run down so I am hoping to get some rest today and do a whole lot of nothing.

Buttons is doing about the same, she still can’t walk but we have an appointment on Monday. We noticed some things and wanted to spend the entire weekend with her just incase Monday they found any issues. She has been very good, still grumpy about getting cleaned up but otherwise, eating, drinking and taking her pills with no problem. She has been purring a lot and spending a lot of time with me in the kitchen. We give her extra treats often. So if you still have prayers to say, maybe add her to your list. We are still hoping she will get through this and be around with use for a few more years.

Blogging News and Updates:

I am going to try and catch up next Friday with post since I will have the entire day by myself while the kids are at school. This week for me will be a little light but I know Berls has been blogging and will have stuff for you this week.

Our 2018HW Sign Up starts this week and we change a few things, I actually think I might be able to do it with this minor adjustment! πŸ™‚

I am sucking at the can you read a series in a month due to the never ending slump I am currently in. I am hoping the break from everything today will help get me in a better mood and clean my head. I just can’t seem to focus at all. I might put everything aside and try and read a few quick/short books to see if that helps. I am just so tired of starting books and stopping them, not because they aren’t good but because I can’t focus at all.

I apologize once again (I know at this point you probably don’t even believe me) but I am sorry for the lack of visits. I am trying, just a lot going on in my head that I need to work out. I will visit again soon I promise! I really do. Don’t lose faith in me yet!

Bookish News and What I grabbed

Nothing, I did read one book….that’s progress sort of! πŸ™‚Β  It was a short book but wasn’t that bad. I actually enjoyed it and it seems to be book one in a series that I am willing to check out. I should have a review up for this at some point.Β

  1. Your house does look lovely and festive, Michelle! I contemplated putting up our tree (we do a live Christmas tree) but decided to wait until Sky is home from college to do our Christmas decorating. Don’t you worry about not getting around to visit or spending time away from the blog. You have a lot going on and you and your family come first! (this coming from your friend who essentially took off about 5 months…and I’m still having trouble since I’m having to share a laptop with James!) I hope Buttons is doing okay – she and YOU are in my prayers and I’m sending cyber hugs your way!! I miss you and hope you’re having a great week! <3

  2. I love the nativity scene! I just bought a new one (along with 10 Dresden angels) at an antique store a few weeks ago and I’m so excited to put everything out. I had hoped to this weekend but stuff came up which is not a huge surprise. I’m sorry to hear about Buttons and hope you get everything figured out at the vet appointment. It sounds like you’re getting some quality time with her though. Have a great week!

  3. So nice that you got to have your Nanny’s Christmas things! That’s awesome πŸ™‚ Sorry I gave you my cold, I didn’t know it would travel through the phone lol! Fingers crossed that Buttons has a great update at the vet today.

    As for the blog, I’m also sucking at visiting, but I’m trying really hard to start fixing that today. And it seems that, so far at least, one of us is always doing okay getting posts written lol! {{HUGS}}

  4. Your house looks great, love the nativity scene! Nice history there too. πŸ™‚ Glad you had a nice relaxing Thanksgiving. Sorry to hear about Buttons though, definitely sending a prayer up for her. Hope it goes well Michelle!!!!

I’m not reading much, just not in the mood. πŸ™‚

  5. I’m sorry Buttons isn’t doing better yet. I hope things improve soon. And I hope you feel better, too. I’ve been down with a bad cold all week and have gotten nothing done. (But boy, have I been rereading!) Good luck with your reading slump; those are no fun.

Oh, and I love your nutcrackers! And how lovely that you’ve got your nanna’s Nativity scene. We have several creches that my godparents gave us — they collect them.

    • Thank you, we are hopeful it will all work out but are ready to do whatever we need to when the time comes. I am just hoping nothing else is wrong. I am wondering if my is a cold and really bad allergies. No fever so I am not sure. Just resting helps.

I love my nutcrackers! I really need to get a new one soon. I was so happy they offered the nativity to me, my aunt said they wanted someone to have it that will use it and I will use it. I love having it in my house.

  6. That is so sweet of your great aunt to give you all of your grandmother’s decorations. I know what it feels like to go through that first Christmas without your grandmother. Mine was literally the glue to our family, and my caretaker my entire life. I hope you have a good Christmas celebrating n her memory. The tree and decorations look beautiful! Today we are supposed to be working on our tree – the first The Man has put up in over 10 years. We’ll see how our differing of opinions works out on this project.

    • It’s actually just my aunt, my great aunt made them for her a VERY long time ago, I am so happy to have them. It’s like having her celebrate Christmas with me. It reminds me of her and her love for family.
I hope you can come to an agreement, my husband knows to not mess with the tree, that is my thing lol

  7. I really hope your cat turns out to be ok. I remember when my other cat got sick and died. I was devasted. I so get you about the reading slump i was in one til I realized I could understand audiobooks and now all I want to do is listen to audiobooks.
