Week in READview:

For those in the US! I hope you had a burger filled 4th of July!
For those in the Caribbean, I hope you are safe! I can’t stop thinking of all the destruction Hurricane Beryl has done.

On & Off the Blog:

I don’t even know how to explain the last couple of weeks. It’s been eye opening, unreal and at one point rather painful.

I pinched a nerve in my neck and was pretty much out of commission for a good week and a half. I did go to work but I was just very uncomfortable and when I got home I took my meds and just crashed on the bed until I passed out. So it hasn’t been super productive so again I am a bit behind on all things but I am now back to 100%, thank goodness.

Our new sideboard in the dining room and Dexter is in the picture too. Black and White small Cockapoo

As most of you know in December I moved into our house. It’s an older colonial type of house. Super cute but of course moving from an apartment to a house, I am lacking a lot of furniture to dress the place up. My new obsession is estate sales…I found the best piece this weekend and it was only $35. I am over the moon in love with it. It is just do nice and great quality. They had another piece I wanted to bad but it was already sold. So now I am stalking estate sales and garage sales to see if I can find so things for the house. We plan to spend a day hitting up thrift stores too to see if they have anything we can use. You would be surprised what you can find and it’s great for the environment to reuse other people stuff especially if they are in great condition.

The next step for the house is painting. I was planning to do that this weekend if I had the four days because of the holiday but of course we just couldn’t get the day.Oh and My work bestie was let go this week and while I think it was a mistake, I really have no say, I understand to a point (sort of) but think overall it would have been a better option to keep them. I do miss them very much….

Anyway 🙁 … Painting is my summer goal, I want the house painted before the holidays because…I CAN’T WAIT TO DECORATE! I am so excited since last year we didn’t really decorate like we wanted too because everything was such a rush but this year will be sooooo much better.

Almost forget we also got a rug! It looks so nice in the living room. I am very happy we got it. It was the perfect size. Just makes the room look more cozy.

My daughter asked to take a trip to Barnes and Noble and I could never day no. So off we went getting a few books each. I plan to make a post with a haul of books I got while I was doing real life stuff and not blogging. That post should be up either next week or the week after. I have a few more blog posts set up to post and I also will share the post on instagram. I am feeling a lot more like myself and feel like I can maybe get back to blogging again at least occasionally.

Because of my back I am behind on some design work, so if I own anyone anything I am hoping by the time this posts you will at least have heard from me or have a proof. I am finishing up come clients and plan to start making some advert for insta and postcards to hand out to local places to see if I can get some more business, my goal for this is to really be able to transition from working full time to freelancing and being able to keep up with the financials or even have a part time while freelancing. I had a lot of time lately to think about what I want, now that I am 50. While I own my own business it isn’t nearly where I would have liked it to be. So if you are in need or know anyone that needs any design work. Pass my name along. I would 100% appreciate it.

  1. I just love your home, the style. It’s exactly like my furniture which is all handed down from older relatives, estate sales and thrifting. My daughter and I both enjoy those but we don’t NEED anything and have no space to put anything else, really. Glad to see you back. It seems like for many it’s been a bit crazy year and I can’t imagine it will get better with the elections ahead.
