Well that didn’t go as planned but I am back ~ WIR & SP

Off the Blog

So you might remember, maybe, that I mentioned taking the next two Sunday Posts off to finish out the summer and get the kids back to school. Since I wasn’t going to be around much on Sunday to visit but I would be on a brief hiatus to enjoy the last weeks of summer but would be able to visit and I would be around…well that didn’t go as planned…

On Monday Aug 21st after making the post, I had a stiffness in my neck, figured I slept wrong, by Wednesday I was in so much pain that I had to go to the doctors. This is pretty much the same thing that happened in December but much worse. The pain would start at the base of my head, travel down my neck and EXPLODE across my entire upper back. EXPLODE! Like Burning Pain. Apparently a pinched nerve is a big thing. I had no Idea and will not use that term lightly anymore. A pinched nerve is when the coating of the nerve rubs off and the nerve is exposed but the pain was radiating down and causing my muscles to spasm. The area of my back that has those chicken wing things, those muscles. I was in bed for 5 days. I couldn’t move and was on some pretty good meds. By Monday the 29th, it was better and the kids were with my parents at the shore so I had the whole week to rest after work. It was uncomfortable for the first 3 days of work but after that the pain wasn’t so bad, it sort of is at the side of my neck and would only hurt at the muscle by the chicken wing on the left side. Those ThermaCare Heating PADS ARE MY BESTEST FRIENDS! Those things work amazing.

By Friday, September 8th, I am feeling much better, little twinges and sometimes achy, I am about 95%. Seems like this might be something that happens often because this is the second time. The pain was UNREAL! So I need to still not lift anything heavy and just take it slow. I don’t want that to happen again.

The kids went back to school with no problems, liking the teachers and no issues (thank goodness) with my sons bus company this year. Same people as last, he likes them and so do I. So over all I am pretty much back to blogging, reading and binge watching. 5 days in bed, I binge watched Bates Motel and slept πŸ™‚ I am almost done with it but season 5 isn’t on Netflix yet so I am taking my time hoping it pops up before I am done πŸ™‚

My daughter is a cheerleader and her first game is one Saturday so our weekends might be a little busy but my husband and I plan to trade off and each go to a game. I obviously will have to do Sunday games since my husband wont leave the house because of football but I have some big projects I want to do in the house and I only have weekends to do it so alternating who takes her will help us both.

Blogging News and Updates:

I am a touch behind but I am trying to do as much as I can, so it might be a lot of Berls until I can catch up. I am working on it. I had planned to bring Task It Tuesday back two weeks ago but that didn’t happen (see above) but I plan to do it this week or next. Again it wont be every week but I have a lot of projects I want to do and I think it will be fun to Task them out and chat about them. Plus I have a new feature that I will be doing and possibly Berls too. Just Random Reviews of non bookish stuff. I was going to being app reviews back but instead Random Reviews sort of covers that type of stuff too. Hoping to do those closer to the end of the year into next year.

COYER is officially over but I am will be helping out with Bloggiesta this time around so if your interested in joining it starts September 21st to 24th. Want to help? Sign Up HERE

I plan to do Can you read a series in a Month? again. I might have sign ups for that up soon, I am thinking of doing it for November…maybe.

Blog Ahead starts on October 1st. I plan to join that also this year so I can get as ahead as possible. With Berls it’s easier to fill up space but it also helps with doing some fun original stuff that I haven’t been able to do in a while because I was blogging alone. So If you are interested you can sign up for Blog Ahead HERE

Last Week on the Blog:

What you might see this week:

I know Berls has some posts this week and I have Binge Watchers but I am very behind at the moment, trying to catch up so it might be a very light week unless I can finish some posts! πŸ™‚

Bookish News and What I grabbed

With This Christmas Ring was sneaky email grab. I clicked to see the book and was auto approved, that for me, is a BIG NO! Especially when the email doesn’t say that but I kept it anyway because it does look cute and deleted the rest of the email.

Devils unto Dust doesn’t come out until next year but it’s really good and lately I just sort of want to read what I want instead of what I think I have too. It’s helping me stay out of a slump. I’ve also been in a horror mood which is good because I need spooky reviews for October. πŸ˜‰

So sorry this is so long, next week, will be shorter, I hope! πŸ™‚Β

  1. I saw your posts on FB about the neck and shoulder pain. I’m so sorry! I’m glad you’re feeling mostly better and hope it will heal up entirely. Meanwhile, keep trying to relax those muscles and enjoy your new books!

  2. I don’t have a pinched nerve, but I have incredible back pain due to permanent damage and a straight spine at the base of the neck and back of head instead of curved around the back of the skull. I highly recommend a chiropractor who utilizes electromagnetic shock therapy. After only four visits, my thoracic -between the chicken wings – went from being completely locked up and limiting my movements due to pain to not being an issue at all.

  3. Yikes, that sounds awful . Glad you’re feeling better, that does NOT sound fun! Hope it goes away soon.

I’ve been binging a lot too and not reading at all, hardly . I don’t know, just don’t feel like it, or maybe my current books just suck lol.

    Alone looks creepy fun!!

  4. It’s good to hear you are feeling better. I’ve never had a pinch nerve but I have had my back go out on me. It’s hard to be in pain with the kids and it always happens when you have a lot of stuff planned. I added Devils Unto Dust to my TBR. I’m getting a little bored with all the romance I read so this is something different for me to read. I hope you have a good week!

    • Thank you, I was glad on the Saturday my husband took the kids to the shore house for the weekend so I was alone to just vegetate in bed. My husband helped a lot but wasn’t able to do all the stuff I needed to do. I am better now and thankfully able to get stuff done now that the kids are in school.

It’s a good book! I am actually really enjoying it, I think I am reading it so slow since I don’t want it to be over yet. πŸ™‚

  5. I’m so sorry about your back/pinched nerve! My dad and brother both have very bad backs (my mom to a lesser degree) and those nerves are no joking matter. Did they say anything about the vertebrae being out of alignment or discs bulging? And how does the covering over a nerve “go away”? It sounds so painful, I’m sooooo sorry!!! I’m glad you had the support to get better, though! PHEW!!!

I’m actually stalking Dread Nation – I wasn’t sure about that one. Hmmmm… maybe?? πŸ˜€ Hang in there girlie!!!

    • The doctor said the coating rubs between the muscle or something and the nerve gets exposed. Even a pull can tear it. So whatever I did possibly in December must have not healed fully and it did it again but worse. I am much better but I am not looking forward to that happening again any time soon.

Dread Nation does sound interesting and I plan to read it soon. If you are looking for “zombies” check out Devil unto Dust, I am honestly loving it and sort of worried I wont know what to do with myself when it’s over.

    • I didn’t read the series for that one so I was sort of annoyed again that netgalley doesn’t put that but I think it seems like it could be a stand alone.

Yes I am liking Devils Unto Dust. It’s different and very character driven. I can’t even explain why I like it so much. I am going to have a hard time writing a review on it because I don’t want to give much away.

  6. Oh so sorry to hear about the pain. #hugs
Glad to hear you’re getting better. I hope this week is way better and everything goes as planned. I want to join the winter cover. 😁
    Thank you for sharing. ❀️

  7. That sounds awful! I’ve heard the tern pinched nerve and probably used it myself but wow that’s way more dramatic and painful than I thought. I’m glad you’re feeling better and yeah those heat pads are amazing! I have some issues with my neck and they have saved me a time or two. Glad that the school year has gone so smoothly – especially with the bus company. I remember some of the headaches you’ve had with that in the past! Have a great week and don’t over do it now that you’re feeling better!

  8. I am glad to hear you’re doing better, that pinched nerve sounds really painful! Coyer was fun again. I don’t think i am joining any other challenges this year except for winter coyer when it starts as I just can’t seem to find time to really be active with it.

Nice haul of books you got, i hope they’re all good ones. Have a great week!

    • I actually just came up with that idea visiting someone else. I think I am going to stick with just my challenges next year because I honestly can’t keep up with them all. Maybe a year off will help me want to do them again. I do like the mini challenges like the Rats and the blogging events but big year long I have decided, I don’t want to do anymore.

Thank you! It was no fun at all but I am happy to be better now.

    • Thank you! That sounds dreadful! The pain is pretty insane but I am planning to slowly try yoga, I think the stretching will loosen the muscle enough to help keep that from happening again, I know I am stressed so I’m always tensing my muscle. Let hope we are both pain free for a long time! πŸ™‚
