Another Interesting Week ~ WIR & TSP

Posted October 16, 2016 by Michelle in The Sunday Post, WIReadview / 22 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog, Books & Real Life:

Well this week was rather interesting…On Tuesday I took off of work because Ryan woke up getting sick so I kept him home incase he has a Stomach bug but it turned out to just be one of those bad tummy aches that make you feel sick. By the end of the day he was feeling much better and able to go to school the next day.

Thursday morning I heard my husband leave at 5am to go to work, I heard him backing out the driveway, I started to doze off again when I heard a big bang. I thought great he just hit something backing out of the driveway. When I went to look outside there was 5 cop cars blocking the street and across the street from us, 10 cops were breaking down the door of the house. They moved in like a police show and yelled, once upstairs “This is the police, open up, we have a warrant to search the premises” WTF is going on!!! They busted open the door and I can see flash lights in the house, they then moved to the first floor of the house and did the same thing. I sat at the window for an hour watching it unfold, this was better than one of those shows. The searched the entire house but I heard one of the cops say “He isn’t here” I then realized it was the guy downstairs they were looking for. I would assume it was drugs they were looking for, I haven’t seen that guy in a couple days so he left at the right time I guess. The people upstairs from them I felt bad for since they had nothing to do with it. No arrest was made and after an hour they packed up and left. I was now tired and disappointed, I was expecting a Blue Blood or NCIS outcome but I got nothing. I really want to move. Problem is, it will be a big change, for not only me but for the kids also. Its a big decision I am not sure I want to make right now with the holidays coming up but the first of Jan we are going to really start thinking about it. I need out of this town, I can’t have that keep happening while my kids are asleep.

Saturday was apple and pumpkin picking, we got the apples just not the pumpkins, I will do that closer to halloween since I don’t want them to get all gross before we can carve them.

Today I plan to do a ton of blogging stuff, I have a bunch of drafts that need to be written and stuff to organize. My New plan for Task it Tuesday has been really working and I want to keep it up. I haven’t had 20 posts drafted in a very long time! I am so excited that stupid slump is behind me 🙂

  1. Congratulations on getting so far ahead. And sorry to hear about the problems in your neighborhood. I hope that you are able to work things out.

  2. I am glad Ryan’s stomach troubles weren’t anything more serious. You really never know with that until you wait it out, do you? But wow, that’s crazy about the police busting into the neighbor’s house like that. I don’t blame you for wanting to move. We see a lot of police action outside my office window. There was a big fight the other day, involving about twenty young people (gangs, maybe?) and they took off running when multiple police cars and motorcycles showed up. One of my coworkers was even asked to go for a ride-along with the police to see if she recognized any of the kids fighting. One experience that stands out for me though was when my husband and I were living in an apartment early in our marriage. There’d been a home invasion robbery in a nearby neighborhood and the suspects supposedly fled into our gated apartment community. The neighbor who lived right above us had left his sliding glass door open on his balcony so his cat could come in and out at leisure. He wasn’t home that day and the police shimmied right up one of the posts of our patio, up onto that balcony to make sure the apartment was clear . They had thought maybe a suspect was hiding in there. My husband and should have been more fearful, probably, but instead our eyes were glued to the window. I’ll never forget that. It turned out the suspects never came into our area. They were found in another neighborhood about a mile down the road.

Look at all those Christmas books!! I want! I want! I have a couple, I think, but that’s about it right now.

I hope you have a great week, Michelle!

  3. Great haul this week. I’ve been collecting quite a few Christmas related titles too lately and plan on having a milder December TBR (usually there is quite a bit horror and fantasy). I figure that’s a good month for it. I know what you mean about moving. I love our neighborhood but we have a duplex next door with drug dealers upstairs. We see them dealing in broad daylight but the police don’t want to seem to do anything about it. I am going to take my concealed carry class on Friday but I doubt that will make me feel any safer. It’s actually a decent neighborhood except for 2 houses on our block and 2 two streets over. I guess that’s pretty much the case in a lot of places. Glad you son is feeling better and that it was nothing major!

  4. That’s crazy! I’m surprised they didn’t do a stakeout beforehand to ensure they caught the guy. Makes you wonder if there’s a mole who let the word out. The guy moved on JUST in the nick of time. I would also consider moving – that’s a lot of stress! I definitely understand holding off on planning until after Christmas. I think I will also be moving within a year.

  5. Wow a little drama! And yeah if they’re gonna do all that and wake you up they should at least catch the guy right? *jk* Seriously though yeah that would be a heckuva way to wake up! You just never know someone bad can be around and you don’t know it.

I did that with pumpkins last year, got em too early and they were rotting by Halloween. This year we’re waiting a bit. Looking forward to the vampire and werewolf posts!

Revolutionary Magic looks fun! Have a great week Michelle.

  6. Glad to hear Ryan didn’t have a stomach bug and just one day of feeling bad. That must be quite the spectacle to see the police storm into a house like that, but I can also imagine it makes you feel a bit unsafe if that happens so close to you. And moving is a big change for everyone and it can be a pain to find a good other house as well. And the people upstairs from them must have gotten quite the scare too with the police storming in like that.

We have some apple picking places here as well, I haven’t gone to one in a long time, but it is fun. I hope you got some nice apples, what do you plan to do with them?

It was fun to write the werewolf guest post for your blog and see everyone’s replies. Thanks again for having me over on your blog!

You sure got a nice haul of new books! All those christmassy books look great! I always love the covers of those Christmas books. Have a great week!

    • Last time he had one it ripped through this house like the plague, I am so glad it wasn’t one.
It was interesting to watch and I know they saw me peeking. I felt bad for the people upstairs since they have a 10 year old that must have been so scared.
I love apple picking, the trees didn’t have a lot of apples but we found a few and I was happy with the amount we got. Not sure what I plan to do with them other than eat them. I love apples and WineSap are my favorite, they are only available this time of year.
Thank you again for writing it and THANK you for stopping by to comment on everyone that commented. I really appreciate that!

You know I love my christmas books and those covers might be my favorite. Might have to make a top ten christmas covers I love for December….Think I will 🙂

  7. Wow! How terrifying for the people across the street, and not that much fun for you either. I don’t blame you for wanting to move, and I hope that works out for you.

Good job on the Blog Ahead challenge! I’ve had a rough October, work-wise, so I’m not doing too well on that front. We’ll see how it goes in the final week of October, after I get the current job turned in. 🙂

  8. Holy crap that is a crazy way to wake up!! Sorry you had to go through all that and not even get to see an arrest. Hopefully you will find a way to move soon that will work for your whole family.
I have heard so many people rave about A Love Letter to Whiskey! I’m curious to see what you think!

  9. Wow, that must have been interesting and frightening to know something like that was happening right next door. I see someone has been swept up by romance and Christmas books this week…lol. Though mine is not romance or Christmas I can’t say anything cause OMG I went on a one-click spree during the last two weeks…lol.

    Have a great week!

  10. WOW, that really was like a cop-show folding out in real life, Michelle! Those poor people, though! What will happen to their door? Was it busted? will the police have to replace it? I think I’d have been really, really scared if something like that happened to me!
Where would you like to move? Would the kids be able to go to the same schools or not? Would it help you and Scot be closer to work? It can be scary to move sometimes, but it can also be something that’s really good for the whole family!
    Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading! Miss you!! {{{HUGS}}}

    • I don’t think the police replace it, they broke the frame of the door. I think the people in the apartment have to get it fixed or the landlord. Could you image police busted into the house while you are sleeping. It would probably make me pee, I’d be so scared.
I want to move to south jersey, the taxes are cheaper and the houses/schools are nicer. The kids would have to change schools and for Ryan that will be a big change. Julia too since she is so shy but it would be something that would benefit both of them. Julia has to share her room with us and our house is just to small. I never meant to stay here forever but things just happen and now we are sort of stuck. Financially we just can’t afford anything, a mortgage payment is more than we make a week. I need a new job or get Limabean Designs really going. I want to consider all of it next year. Fresh year, fresh start.
      Miss you!!!! ((((HUGS))))
