With wolf and dragon shifters, mysterious monks, and a dash of romance, this sword and sorcery thrill will sweep you away.
The gods have sparked a series of events that just might save the world. The heir to the Erani Empire has been united with her dragon, and her people have heard the call from far and wide. While the Brotherhood is assured that they have found the descendant they've been seeking, a greater secret is set to be revealed.
A journey back across the red rivers and the unclaimed territory will test Amalia and Kylan in more ways than they'd ever dreamed. Stone giants and creatures from the gods failed experiments stand in their way. But, together, they will face every obstacle or die trying.
Join New York Times bestselling author, K.N. Lee on an epic fantasy adventure similar to George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones and Sarah J. Maas' Court of Thorns and Roses series.
This review may contain spoilers for the first book….
I honestly couldn’t wait to find out what happened, so as soon as this book was released I grabbed it. I was hoping for a lot more and this book even with 144 pages, gave me what I wanted and more. I am so invested in Amalia and Kylans story and what will happen next. The ending was great and I can see the next book being the start of Amalia being a complete badass.
This story starts where the last one left off. You get a lot of Erani history in this book plus a lot more about who Amalia and Kylan are. I would have liked a lot more details but for me it didn’t take away from the epic story. You find out a lot of certain people in this book and you also lose a few people that I have grown to like. I am excited to see the relationship grown between Amalia and Kylan, I also wonder what will happen when Aros comes back. Lots of things are still open.
I think the only thing that is preventing this from being EPIC 5 star is the lack of details and how quickly things move along. I wanted an epic battle and the details just weren’t there. I am hoping the story will grow on the characters more because even though I love the relationship, I feel like the connection isn’t there yet. I feel like somehow the magic connection they have is only really one sided. So I again hope that the next one will have all the elements I am missing in this one since this one had all the elements I was missing in the first one. (does that make sense?)
Overall, I am really enjoying this series. I am hoping to grab few more of her books. I do like her writing style and how the story flows is easy to read. This book isn’t good for younger kids, I highly recommend for adults and lovers of a quick exciting fantasy. Even with everything I just said, I am really loving this series! 🙂
