by Phoebe Fox
Paperback, 310 pages
Expected publication: June 10th 2014 by Henery Press
Call Brook Ogden a matchmaker-in-reverse. Let others bring people together; Brook, licensed mental health counselor, picks up the pieces after things come apart. When her own therapy practice collapses, she maintains perfect control: landing on her feet with a weekly advice-to-the-lovelorn column and a successful consulting service as the Breakup Doctor: on call to help you shape up after you breakup.
But when her own relationship suddenly crumbles, Brook finds herself engaging in almost every bad-breakup behavior she preaches against. And worse, she starts a rebound relationship with the most inappropriate of men: a dangerously sexy bartender with anger-management issues—who also happens to be a former patient.
As her increasingly out-of-control behavior lands her at rock-bottom, Brook realizes you can’t always handle a messy breakup neatly—and that sometimes you can’t pull yourself together until you let yourself fall apart.

I was Super excited to be able to chat with Phoebe and ask her a few really fun questions
1. What is your favorite snack food?
Cheetos. It’s a bit embarrassing, actually. Generally I can keep the craving at bay, but if a bag is opened in my presence, it won’t last long. And I’m not talking about one of those convenience-store snack-size bags either…. This from a woman who loves vegetables and eats pretty healthy overall. Cheetos are my Kryptonite.
2. If you could be a member of any TV-sitcom family, which would it be?
I always thought it would be nice to be a Cosby kid. Such a healthy, fun, loving family. Not that mine wasn’t—it just seemed like they were the perfect everything you could ever think of when you were a kid.
3. What are your nicknames? What do you prefer to be called?
I have been called Fifi the Fox since I was a child. I prefer to be called Princess Consuela Bananahammock.
4. What books on your shelf are begging to be read?
Lately…? All of them. We recently moved, and between that, the book launch, and writing the next in the Breakup Doctor series, I haven’t even unpacked my books yet! It’s unheard-of for me not to have books lined up ten or twelve deep on my to-be-read bookshelf or my nightstand. Lately when I need a read (which is nightly), I download to my e-reader, but this is also very odd for me, as I am a Luddite about books. I have nothing against e-readers—they’re so convenient!—but what’s comforting and soothing at the end of the night is holding a real, live book. Now that The Breakup Doctor has launched, my husband and I are literally going next week to buy bookshelves, because…priorities!
5. What is your strongest sense? If you had to give one up, which would it be?
My sense of guilt, no contest. J And also the one I wish I could give up.
6. What is the strangest thing you believed as a child?
That thunder was the sound of clouds bumping into one another (thanks, Mom). Also, that I could read minds. I was literally convinced for quite some time that I had serious telepathic abilities.
7. Where’s your favorite place to take an out-of-town guest?
A place called Hamilton Pool, out in Austin’s hill country. You drive through rural roads to what looks like a dirt road to someone’s property (it actually is/was, but the owners have donated use of the pool to the city in perpetuity). Then you park in a gravel lot, and walk about a mile through a wooded greenbelt, and suddenly you are on the set of Blue Lagoon. It’s extraordinary—a gorgeous huge carved semicircular limestone cavern with water spilling over the top into a natural blue-green pool below that you can swim in. It’s the best secret in town—you have to get there early, since they limit the number of people allowed in at one time, which makes it even nicer.
8. If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?
Princess Consuel— oh, wait… 😉
9. What superpower would you want? and what would your superhero name be?
Like a lot of us, I have always wanted to fly. I had dreams for years that I could—by doing the breaststroke through the air. They were such real dreams, it was always achingly painful when I woke up to realize I can’t actually fly. Superhero name…? Here’s a hint: It starts with Princess and ends in… 😉
10. You walk into a room, what us your entrance music?
Ride of the Valkyries. Because there is no music called Ride of the Six-Foot Woman.
11. How many times a day do you look at yourself in the mirror?
Strangely, I do not appear in mirrors.
12. What movie deserves a sequel?
Titanic
13. What is one guilty pleasure you enjoy too much to give up?
Sarcasm.

Thank you, Berls! I love that you got the Friends reference. Among my favorite episodes…my husband’s nickname is sometimes the same as Paul Rudd’s. 😉 Hamilton Pool is incredible–you have to see it to believe it–search for pics online–it’s gorgeous!
