Busy week but happy to be home ~ WIR & TSP

Posted August 21, 2016 by Michelle in The Sunday Post, WIReadview / 12 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog, Books & Real Life:

So Stardew Valley had taken over my life…If you don’t know what that it, it’s a farming/adventure type game like Harvest moon with a pinch of Terraria and it’s addicting ….I can’t stop. I did do a bunch of blogging stuff in between it all but I am getting myself organized again after being away and I am at a good place that things should start settling done and I can get back to everyday posts and visits. The vacation really did wonders for me and once the summer is over I should be able to have more free time with us not going to the shore every weekend. I do enjoy the shore, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just a lot and since I can’t really do a lot of blogging down there it’s hard for me to keep up. So being home this weekend was a blessing and I am almost thinking we might do it again next weekend….maybe. With labor day weekend as our last trip down. I just need to get everything together before school starts.

Reading has been rather slow, besides my addiction to a farm game, I just can’t seem to find the time to read like I want. Again I am sure that will change come fall/winter when we spend most of our time inside.

I am also working on budgeting things around the house, I am sad to see our Marvel Corp boxes go but I just can’t do them anymore. I got rid of a lot of stuff (except my Uppercasebox). The kids are about to lose the two cable boxes in their rooms because 1. they don’t watch them and 2. the extra cost isn’t worth it. I plan to get them either the Apple TV for their rooms or the Roku.  Since they spend most of the time watching youtube, Netflix and Hulu why spend the extra money on a cable box they don’t use. I also wanted to get rid of all our movie channels but Verizon doesn’t have a package for that and if I get rid of what we have I might lose the Hallmark channel…Um Christmas Movies!!! I can’t lose that!!! So if the boxes help with the cost then we are good. I just want to save up some money so we can, MAYBE, go to disney again next year! 🙂

  1. I love it!! “What you might see on the blog next week” – how perfect!!!! That’s why I never preview my week. Who knows what posts I’ll put up or move around, etc.

So Disney wasn’t so bad, you’ll go again!?!?!? Sweet!!! and Phew!! And your kids have tvs in their rooms??? Don’t tell my son! He’d never leave his bedroom if we let him have one. But it’s true that he watches Youtube more than tv these days so what’s the point really?!?!?!

Stardew Valley… hmmmm…. I’ll have to take a look. I’m still playing Yo Kai Wibble Wobble BUT my guilty pleasure is Dumb Ways to Die 2 – it’s so fun to play waiting in line at the grocery store 😉

    Have a fantastic week, friend!!

    • I fill forever go to Disney! It’s my favorite place in the whole wide world 🙂 October is the best time since it’s not crowded and the weather is perfect.
They won’t have TVs anymore lol. I’ll the the Apple TV for them cheaper. Cable companies kill you in the equipment.
Stardew Valley is a computer game buts it’s so much fun! I’ve been playing Disney Emoji Blitz. It’s rather cute 🙂

  2. My youngest watches this Youtube channel where the guy plays different video games and Stardew Valley is one of the new ones. I can definitely see why you’re addicted! Just watching it I kind of want to play it myself. Glad your trip to Disney was great and good luck with the budgeting! I need to do that as I’d really like to go to Disney again sometime soon. Have a great week!

  3. The cost of cable these days is insane! It sounds like you’re on top of it, though. I have an Apple TV, and love it. I’m sure the kids will love it, or the Roku as well. I haven’t heard of that game, but the one that has me is Temple Run 2. I had stopped playing it, but then they started changing the board for limited amount of time, and doing special holiday stuff. Now it’s like a new game. As for the finances, I went through that this spring. It can be hard letting go of stuff, but if it’s for something else you really want, the trade-off isn’t all bad.

  4. I love stardew valley, it’s such a fun game! I haven’t played in a while now sadly :(. I am currently playing a tower defense game named Kingdom Rush, which is fun too and I can play one level or so in the evenings.

I am so glad to hear your vacation did wonders for you :). And budgeting really is necessary sometimes, it’s sad to do some things away, but it can really make a difference. It would be awesome if you can go to Disney again next year 🙂

I am looking forward to your Disney vacation post next week! I hope you’ll have a good week!

  5. Glad you guys had a good vacation! I’d love to take little man to Disney next year. That’s our goal. Since my husband and I have both been in school/grad school our entire marriage, we’ve never gone on a family vacation. We’ve had a few weekends away that were work/school related but not a real vacation. Next summer that is our goal!

I’ve become addicted to Diner Dash on my phone. It’s SO distracting. I catch myself playing it instead of reading or blogging 😁 I’m going to have to look up Stardew Valley.

Hope you have a great week! Happy reading 😀

  6. Vacations are fun but it’s also nice to get back home and jump back into things. Any way to save money is an interesting problem to solve. I’m doing that too. Just wish I could dump the pay channels on satellite, but my son is into boxing, so no go there. LOL I try not to look forward to fall, as then comes winter. Yikes!

  7. I’m glad you’re happy to be home, Michelle 🙂 And way to plan another Disney trip by getting rid of costly things you don’t really need. I’m sure you’ll make it. And while you’re doing your budget, I hope you’re also making one for Atlanta… Because I miss your face!
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  8. Stardew Valley looks awesome. I was actually looking at it a few days ago because I was checking out Starbound, which I saw somewhere, and they you click a link and pretty soon you’re looking at like three or four games lol. But I want to get No Man’s Sky too. Which looks AWESOME! I can’t believe we’re talking about summer being over already, although I won’t miss the mugginess. the sunshine yeah, but it’s been pretty humid.

Glad you guys had a good vacation, Disney rules!

    • It’s so much fun and super addicting. I heard of Starbound just not sure I know about it. Will have to look it up.
Video games can take over your life lol

I can’t believe it either but I am looking forward to the fall weather and pumpkin everything season! The humidity was KILLER this year. My hair has not been happy!
