A Mess, An Idea, a Challenge and a Readathon ~ WIR & SP

Off the Blog:

Well things are back to “normal.” School is officially 3 weeks in, all back to school nights have been accomplished and now it’s time to enjoy the fall.

Happy October 1st!

I plan to go to a Octoberfest today in the next town over and also might put up my halloween decorations, that is if I have finished my daughters room. I AM FINISHED! She below!

I took a big step two weeks ago, as most of you know I am the owner of Limabean Designs, I have been doing Graphic Design for 21 years and my full time job is a graphic designer. I started LD about 2 years ago and it’s been going ok, not a lot of business but enough to keep me happy because I love doing it. I was pushed to do this by an awesome friend/co-blogger because I has self esteem issues and she insisted that I should take the step and I did. Well, I took another step two weeks ago, I started a group and will now sell Pre-made Covers. I have worked so hard on this and this is also a reason I have not been around a lot. I started this 3 months ago and with everything that has happened I thought It would never be real but now it is and I am so excited. It’s exactly what I have always wanted to do. If you have a moment to help me out and could share my post on your page I would be forever grateful! You can find a link to the post, pinned to the top of the page,Β HERE. This will be the only time I ever ask and Thank you in advance! I totally understand if you can’t, there are a lot of designers in this world we all have our favorites! πŸ™‚

As I said before I cleaned my daughters nightmare room. I never saw such a mess and I honestly not only blame her but also myself for avoiding the room like the plague. This will, however, be the LAST time the room looks like this, I will not do this again!

Paper, tiny pieces of cut up paper EVERYWHERE! She loves to do crafts and make stuff for her Littlest Pet Shop characters but she doesn’t like to pick it up! Even after we tell her a million times she still doesnt do it. It’s out fault for not putting out foot down but now it ends. She is now aware that I will only put half of the room back. So she has to say goodbye to a lot of stuff. She might be a closet hoarder and I need to get that fixed before she moves out! We plan to donate a lot of stuff but I promised her I will get rid of it after a year, just incase she really wants something back. This applies to stuffed animals only.

The room now looks like this! πŸ™‚ The images are in order of the ones above you it’s like a before and after! πŸ™‚

I am proud of her, she got rid of a lot and now it’s completely clean. Lets hope she can keep it like this. My next project is to get a bookcase for the living room and work on saving up some money to get new furniture because I want to make the living room as cozy as possible. πŸ™‚

Blogging News and Updates:

The dewey 24 hour readathon is on October 21st. I have already informed the family I plan to do nothing that day and I am not to be bothered. I might have an update or two on the blog but I might just stick to social media this time around and not clutter the blog with posts. I figured I would do a kick off, update, halfway point and end post. Maybe. I will see how it goes since I really want to just read the entire day and enjoy the posts on Twitter and Instagram, that is always my favorite part. Plus I love doing reading sprints so if you plan to join make sure to follow me on Twitter so we can do them together! πŸ™‚

The Can you read a series in a Month Challenge sign ups will start this month. I have failed this challenge twice already but I am so going to do this! I have the perfect three books to read, I refuse to fail again…at a challenge, I MADE UP!!!! πŸ™‚

Last Week on the Blog:

Bookish News and What I grabbed

I am still reading these, it’s a little slow going with reading. Now that the room is complete and we are 3 weeks into the school year I can FINALLY get back to my normal reading schedule! πŸ™‚ I didn’t grab anything which is really odd that I have gone so long without getting anything. Just not finding anything that really grabs me at the moment. I’ll do better next week! πŸ˜‰

  1. I am so excited for you that you started your premade covers group! I enjoy seeing the covers you design and I hope you get some sales too. Your design work is awesome and I hope your business will get more well known.

Wow your daughter’s room really was a mess, it looks so much better now. But what a pain it must’ve been to clean that all up. Hopefully she can keep it clean now. I was a hoarder as a kid and still am.

    I hope you’ll have a great week!

  2. That’s quite the transformation on your daughters room! I hate tidying my son’s so when it’s time to suit up and go to war I leave it to his dad to get it sorted, lol.

  3. Congrats on your new business venture, Michelle!! That is fantastic! I wish you all the best.
Congrats also on getting your peanut’s room all cleaned and organized. It looks amazing!! I’d like to do that with my almost 17 yo’s room – especially since she shares it with her older sister who will be home in about a week for a visit. BUT not gonna happen. πŸ˜‰
Someday Dewey will happen on a date where I can participate. October is marching band season and my weekends are ALL booked with competitions. :/
    Hope you’ve been having a great week! Miss you!! {{{HUGS}}}

    • lol I sent you a message back. You are always welcome to text me on messenger or just text me (I’ll send you my cell) I don’t drink beer but I had wine when I got home πŸ˜‰

  4. Wow, it looked like a cyclone hit her room…lol. I hope she can manage to keep it pretty at least for a few days…hehehe. πŸ™‚ I am going to try and do the Readathon if I don’t forget. I need to get signed up! πŸ™‚

Everyone her premade covers are awesome!!!!!

Have a great day and happy reading!

    • It better stay like that FOREVER! I already threatened her a dozen times since yesterday.
You should join, even if it’s just for a few hours it’s fun to do. Berls and I plan to alternate the day so we both can spend more time reading and or resting.

      Lol Thank you!

  6. That room is quite a transformation!! My cousin’s room was like that…except it was about three times as big as your daughter’s. She was 7 at the time. My aunt charged me with leading the expedition. We filled 13 large trashbags full of stuffed animals and clothes and still barely made a dent. Of course, it went back to exactly the way it was before when I moved out. Teaching how to clean up after yourself is an important thing to know before leaving home. It can cause a lot of grief with roommates later down the line! Congrats on taking this leap with pre-made covers!! I hope it will add some diversity to LD and boost sales.

    • I am really worried she will be a hoarder, The PAPERS I found, it was amazing, she keeps everything. I also charge her $1.00 for every water bottle I find in her room. I found 3 and 5 bottle caps. Like seriously! She better keep that room clean until she moves out!!!

Thank you, I am hoping it works in my favor. I am excited to make them and love it. It would be great to have it work out so I can quit my day job but I think I have a long way before that happens. πŸ™‚ lol

    • Sadly this wasn’t very good, next week they have one about an 1 1/2 hours away but I can’t make it because my daughter has a game that one is the best one.
Thanks, I am hoping it sticks, I worked very hard on getting up so I hope it pays off and some people can find nice covers for an affordable price
      and
Thank you, I worked hard on that room lol
You should try dewey, you don’t have to do the entire 24 hours even 12 hours or 8 hours is good, it’s just a lot of fun.

  8. congrats on your daughters room. My daughter always had a room that looked like that, it was always so frustrating. We go and clean it and less than a week later it would be right back the same way. She’s 13 now, and finally keeps her room clean and organized. I think she got tired of trying to find things. lol… Your new books look great. Happy reading.

  9. I’ve shared it on my FB page. Yay, SO happy for you! Let me know if you need some help to promote something. I’ll do my best. 😁❀️❀️❀️
I want to join the group but just realized it’s for authors. πŸ™ˆ
Anyway, have a wonderful week and enjoy your books. 😁

    • I added you to the group! I don’t mind having you! Sometimes just liking the covers or commenting gets others to look again. Any little bit helps.
Thank you, breaking out of my shell is a big step, I am looking forward to this next adventure. I know I can do it and do it well so I’m excited πŸ™‚ if you do advertising on her blog let me know. I’m going to start advertising.

  10. I actually did go to an equivalent of an Octoberfest yesterday xD (I’m so sleepy today, gah!) It was fun, although it was mostly just me trying to dodge beer and more beer :DD
Congrats on starting out your little creations corner! And that room you cleaned up looks absolutely great πŸ™‚ I onder how long it will stay like that though, my room never stayed that way for long πŸ˜€
Good luck in the readathon, I should look into that one too πŸ™‚

    • This is more of a festival/Craft fair. It sounds like find. I have been to a few real Octoberfests and they are so fun but that was before kids! πŸ™‚

Thank you! She better keep that room like that until she moves out! She has been warned. lol

The readathon is so awesome, you should try it out. You don’t have to go the entire 24 but it is fun to try.
