Welcome to Task It Tuesday! hosted by the Awesome The Geeky Blogger
What is Task It Tuesday? It is where every week I list a task or tasks that I would like to accomplish on my blog or in Real Life before next Tuesday. It can be big or small but the goal is to get something done that will make my blog/reading life/challenges run smoother, faster, or more efficient and/or get those simple or complex tasks done in my real life.
Last week I took a break to rethink how I wanted to do Task it Tuesday and I had an idea, I am hoping what I plan and with all your help this will get me moving and not flake on what I have been wanting to do for so long, it’s time to make my dream come true.
As most of you know I am a graphic designer during the day but when I first when to college many moons again they didn’t offer any courses to create websites, I didn’t even have a cell phone. So when I was about to graduate they just started introducing web design classes (1996) but I was like, Phfff…I don’t need that…fastword…Well here I am wanting to know anything and everything about it. So I went back to college and learned however due to issues beyond my control, I learned but never actually did anything with it. So now I sit with books, notes and the awesome course from Nosegraze just sitting around collecting dust….Guess what my task will be for the next couple of week π
I love my job but I need to do something more, I want to design covers, create logos and make amazing websites. So my tasks for the next couple of weeks is to take what I learned (and go over Nosegraze course, since I bought it but never did it) and get myself learning all things HTML and CSS one step at a time. I know it but I dont KNOW it. So wish me luck because I am hoping this will be something that benefits my family and gives me the confidence I lack because that was the main reason I never continued on with it because I honestly never think I am good enough. Lets make this 10 year dream finally happen.
My Task(s) this week:
- Get those HTML/CSS Books out of storage and skim through and take notes.
- Go over my notes from class and just re familiarize myself with all things coding.
- Attempt to write a bit of code to get use to writing it. (even if I have to write the same thing a million times) I need to know the basics again.
Each week will be a little more that hopefully by the end of this I will be able to create a website and/or blog.
Tasks completed two weeks ago:
I set up my awesome menu planner and now just need to fill it in. I am so excited about it and so happy I finally got it done!
Do you have tasks you want to complete? Head on over to The Geeky Blogger and jump on the linky
You can do this, you can absolutely do this! Go kick butt!
Thank you Bea! <3
Yay Michelle!! You can do it! I think it’s great you want to pursue your dreams, and I bet you succeed π If you need someone to practice on, let me know!
I will let you know thank you π I am so excited about but totally nervous! Of course I had that fight with myself that maybe I am not good enough but I need to stop that because I honestly think I am (maybe) π
You go girl, read those books, and learn how to do all the cool stuff. π
Thank you! I hope I can remember it all. Looking forward to making a big change π Yay
Yes! Go, Michelle! Go! π
Lol thank you Angie π ox
Congrats for going back to those HTML books and learning to do more with graphics. One of these days I plan to take some classes on this too. I would love to design book covers and/or websites… ah that would be awesome. <3 Good luck, I'm rooting for ya!
Thank you Sarah! I already played around and made a few samples of covers and it’s so much fun to do. I just need a change in what I’m doing and I think my heart is telling me this is the direction I need to go π you should take classes if you can, start early so you don’t have to wait as long as me π
That is freaking Awesome! If you need somewhere to practice I have a personal blog that needs a design LOL π
Lol I might take you up on that because I will need the practice π
That’s ambitious! I’m sure once you get to work on it it will start clicking. I learned a lot of programming in college but never learned HTML. I think the Computer Science considered it beneath them. However, now a lot of years later I don’t really need C++ but I could use some knowledge of HTML! Good luck!
Thank you! It is a lot but since I’ve already went to school for it last year I feel like it will come to me rather quickly or I at least hope it does. I’m excited about it π
