My Review:
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading this book since I never really read anything adult-ish with a character the same age as me. I didn’t love this book but I didn’t hate it either. Annabelle is the wife of a billionaire but the relationship isn’t working and she needs time away from her husband after finding him having sex with someone else. Her friend agrees to watch her kids while she takes a trip to St. John to stay at her friends brothers house to think about what she wants to do. The place seemed breathtaking but I thought the everything happened so fast. Johnny the caretaker of the house is a little broken from a failed relationship. He was young and sexy and I could tell why Annabelle was so attracted to him but I felt she went away to clear her head and figure out what she wanted to do with her life however that was rather hard to do when Johnny seemed to be every where looking all sexy and distracting. I wanted to see how she was going to overcome what happened to her, I don’t know, I just thought after being in a relationship with her husband for so long, someone who made her something she was not, she would want to take more control over her life and Johnny appeared to be doing that for her. He was almost borderline stalker sexy guy. The “love” seemed to happen so quickly and was based more on sex than emotion. That is what bothered me the most. It didn’t have the build I was looking for, it was like a damsel in distress being rescued by a white knight but not for the right reasons. I totally get they were both lonely but I was just all to fast and could bring lots of regret.
This book had all the sex and steamy moments a great adult book should have but I thought some where in the middle it lost the character/relationship build it needed to work for me. I understand this is a serial and maybe it would be better to read the entire series before judging or maybe this would be better to read all at one time, I am not sure, I would like to continue on and see what happens, you know, I want to give it the benefit of the doubt, but I am in no rush. Should you read it, I would give it a try but I think I would suggest reading it all in one sitting.
Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my review
Hope you have a great day and Happy Reading!
I can’t believe I missed this review! I always enjoy seeing what my friends think of a book that I read. I’m glad you liked it despite it not having some of the character/relationship building you wanted. I do think it makes a difference if you read all three together. I adore this story and was really rooting for Annabelle and Johnny. But I also knew Annabelle’s husband from a previous series (you don’t have to have read it though) and had definite opinions on him. I hope you’ll continue on with Annabelle and Johnny’s story at some point…there really is more to them as characters as well as to their story. 😀
I want to continue and I really think I would enjoy more if I read the entire thing instead of one book at a time 🙂
It’s always interesting seeing you review an adult read as you don’t read those kind of books often. I am glad you still enjoyed this one even though you didn’t love it. And I think i would have some of the same issues, if she goes there to clear her head and then falls in love, it just feels a bit too soon. I hope the rest of the series gets better once you get around to reading those. Great review!
I’m glad you enjoyed Find Me even if you didn’t love it, Michelle! There is definitely more soul-searching in the second instalment, and I can see exactly what you mean. She did go away to clear her head. And to figure out who she wanted to be and what to do with the rest of her life.
I had already encountered Anabelle’s husband in another series by the same author, and I hated him so much, I was actually cheering for Anabelle and Johnny from the get-go 😉
Two and a half weeks!! *hugs*
I did enjoy it, part of me wonders if I read the entire serial all at one time if I would have had a different feeling. I would like to read the second one. I’m glad you hated him because I didn’t like him either 🙂 I liked them just thought it was very rushed.
