News at Home: Happy Christmas!

I hope everyone is settling in for a great Christmas Eve and Day tomorrow! I’m sitting here Saturday writing this trying to remember what exactly I did this week… Thank goodness for my bullet journal to jog my memory LOL!

Monday I ran some errands and then we had my second book club’s Christmas Party. We did a white elephant book exchange and I’m really excited about the books I ended up with πŸ™‚

Tuesday I had my follow up appointment with my surgeon… more on that in Fit Readers section. I also took Kiko to the doctor – because he stresses out too much to actually go himself – to FINALLY get anxiety medicine. Let me tell you, I’ve been trying to get him into the doctor for anxiety for 10 years because it is debilitating. So he has meds, which he’s convinced aren’t working after a grand total of 4 days. Gah this man! She told him it would take 2 weeks! Something funny happened too – the nurse asked if he was my father! LOL! He did not like that πŸ™‚

Wednesday we finished our Christmas shopping – we didn’t have much to get. The big ticket item we had left to get was a bike for Franky. We went to Academy and found a nice bike for $85. Kiko was sure that Walmart would be cheaper… so I gave in and we went to Walmart DAYS before Christmas. We found a bike marked for $79 that was really nice… so nice that when we checked out it was $179. And since we’d already shown the bike to Franky’s mom we didn’t feel we could back out of buying it. So yeah… went to the hell called Walmart to save money and spent $100 more! When will men ever learn to listen?!

I had started coughing bad on Wednesday and by Thursday it was full fledged. Runny nose, disgusting, mucus cough. So I stayed home Thursday and did nothing but cough and blow my nose. Oh and I did some blogging.

Friday I did a lot more blogging and then met up with some friends for our yearly Christmas Sushi. Had a great time and was given some really great gifts πŸ™‚

Do my friends know me or what?

Saturday I’m just doing some more blogging, praying that the two gifts I have coming in from Amazon hurry up and arrive, and trying to hurry up and recover so I can enjoy our Christmas Eve!

Sunday we’ll be headed over to Franky’s mom’s for our Christmas fun – my brother will come over too. We’ll do food, gifts and then stop and my sister in law’s for tamales. Tomorrow will be a lazy day at home πŸ™‚

Blog News

I’ve been on a blogging kick the last couple days and am really excited about the headway I’ve made! As of writing this post I have written all but 4 of my January posts – but I plan to finish those today. Meaning that by time you read this, I should be done with January! With the exception of Sunday posts of course πŸ™‚

I also went through and scheduled all my read but unreviewed posts… there were a lot. Y’all are going to see a lot of reviews in coming months for books I read a LONG time ago. My reviews are scheduled all the way through May! Yippee! I feel like I’m off to a great start for blogging next year. Now if I could just get the hang of visiting…

COYER Winter Switch Update

I’m doing The List during this phase (lasts until January 12th) Here’s my list:
COYER Switch List

Read So Far:

  1. Accidentally Dead by Dakota Cassidy
  2. Accidentally Human by Dakota Cassidy

So that’s two down. I’m currently reading Accidentally Demonic by Dakota Cassidy and I’m starting Snowed In today as well. So hopefully next week I’ll be down two more πŸ™‚

#FitReaders Update

So Tuesday I FINALLY was able to have my follow up appointment with my surgeon and question him about my weight stalling. Basically it has nothing to do with my eating – I’m doing that right. I’ve been working out too hard… particularly weight lifting too much. He basically forbade me from doing any more lifting until he give me clearance. I’m to do resistance training only. Which stinks because I was seriously loving my weight lifting classes, but he said I could hurt myself my body isn’t ready AND it’s going to stand in the way of my weight loss at this point. Not that weight lifting is bad – it’s great – I just shouldn’t be doing it YET.

And I have to say it adds up. Every time I’ve stopped working out the weight has fallen off better. Take the past couple weeks for example. I haven’t been to the gym since Monday December 11th because of being busy and sick… and until the 11th I’d been stuck at less than 1 pound lost all month. As of yesterday I’ve lost 17.2 pounds this month. So I stopped going to the gym and the weight fell off.

Which means I met my goal of losing 100 pounds by the end of the year. Yesterday I hit exactly 100 pounds down! Just to keep it to that until the end of the month πŸ™‚

Days since surgery: 137
Weight lost: 100 lbs!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a place to meet up and share what you have been, are and about to be reading over the week. This meme started with J Kaye’s Blog and then was taken up by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at the Book Date. And here we are!

I just finished…

Accidentally Human by Dakota Cassidy. This was my favorite in the series so far!

Reading Now…

I’m starting Snowed In, setting aside the book I was reading so I can work on my COYER list.

I’m about halfway through Accidentally Demonic and I’m loving it.

Up Next…

I’m going to keep going with The Accidentals… I think Accidentally Catty is up next. For print, I’m not sure what I’ll read quite yet.

How was your week? What are you Reading? Have a great Holdiay!

Berls is wishing everyone a Happy Christmas in the Sunday Post with Berls! Share on X

  1. Wooot! I knew you were going to meet your weight loss goal! So glad you got answers, too. Last year I bought some shoes at Kohl’s and then kept on down the strip and stumbled on a Rack Room Shoes. So I went in thinking they would be cheaper than the shoes I had just bought at Kohl’s. Nope! More expensive, which shocked me. Glad I went to Kohl’s first! How ironic that Kiko and I went on anxiety meds on almost the same day! Yes, it does take time. I hope he can stick to it.

    • Thanks Charlie, I was not so confident but I’m thrilled I did it πŸ™‚ Hahaha you can’t always count on the places you expect to be cheap to be the cheapest that’s for sure! Good luck with your anxiety meds – I think theyre starting to help Kiko. Happy 2018!

  2. I’m so glad that you met you 100 pound goal. That is great. I need to get my butt into gear and lose some. My doctor has been after my liver tests came back elevated (fatty liver). I’m hoping that now that the holidays are over, I can avoid all the sweets that then to go with them. I’ve already picked up my step count. Congrats on getting ahead on blogging too. I’ve been trying to do the same thing. I hope you’ve had a great Christmas and have a happy New Year!

    • Thanks Melanie! I know, the holidays are such a difficult time for healthy eating. Good luck, hopefully a little careful eating will take care of your liver! I hope you had a great Christmas and are enjoying the end of 2017!
