News at Home: COVID Quarantine Week 26

We had a great long weekend. Kiko was off for 5 days, so getting back to work on Tuesday was a little rough for him. But Monday, he woke up with Dante and let me sleep in. Except, I’m so used to getting up that I couldn’t actually sleep. However, I laid in bed and read instead. So it was still a nice treat.

This week was not a busy one at work. I had a steady flow but nothing crazy. It made for a nice week. I finally made arrangements for Dante’s birthday, which is Friday (9/18)!!! I can’t believe he’s going to be 1 year already. I’m doing a small, virtual party with family. I’m planing on like 15 minutes, because there’s not a lot you can do when it’s a virtual 1 year old party. He won’t be interested for long. I ordered him a Mickey Mouse smash cake and he has a Mickey Mouse outfit to wear and a Mickey Mouse banner for his high chair. I’ll share pictures next week.

Saturday I decided I really wanted to cut my hair. So I straightened with the plan of cutting it, possibly into a pixie cut. Well after I straightened it I realized I liked it that way… so I guess I just need to start straightening it. Then we went to the park, hoping to let Dante go in one of the swings. We went equipped with spray and wipes so we could sanitize a swing. Well the park was PACKED. What the hell people? COVID is not over. We hadn’t expected it to be empty but we thought surely we could take turns, but it wasn’t worth getting out of the car. Not only were there way too many people there, but not more than 1 or 2 were wearing masks. So we want to a trail and walked a bit instead. I really wish we had a house, so we could setup a little playground for Dante. It wouldn’t have been bad before COVID, but he is so stuck inside the house right now. It sucks.

That’s really it. It wasn’t the most eventful week, which is great for me.

Blog News

Michelle and I had a chat this week and I think we’ve got some fun things planned for the end of the year. And also some great plans for COYER next year.

Despite not being as busy this week, I didn’t get as much blogging /reading done. I started watchingย Young Sheldon on HBO and I kinda got sucked into it. So the time I’ve devoted to blogging /reading got a bit eaten away by the show. Today I’m writing my Sunday post while watching LOL!

  1. I find it hard going to work again after being off for awhile too, so I can relate to Kiko. I am glad you were able to get in a little reading time! I rarely am able to sleep in after everyone else is awake.

I hope Dante’s birthday goes well! One already! That doesn’t seem possible. I love the Mickey Mouse theme. My daughter’s first birthday theme was Minnie Mouse. ๐Ÿ™‚ Smash cakes are such fun!

    Have a great week, Berls!

  2. I can’t believe how stupid some people are about COVID. I went to pick up the armoire with my daughter and we drove by a skate park which was packed and no masks. It makes me both angry and afraid. It doesn’t help to see clips of Trump’s superspreader events either.

It’s hard to believe he is 1!!! The time is so precious and it goes so fast!

    • I know, it’s so disappointing because we could really do so much more if people were smarter about it as a whole. We could have had a nice time with him at the park, for example, if people were willing to take the same precautions we are. I just want Dante to experience life outside this little apartment! Especially seeing as we have no end date in sight for COVID. I can’t believe he’s going to be 1! But while it’s gone so fast, I’m so glad – I’m loving this age ๐Ÿ™‚

      Have a great week!
