Sunday
We had such a nice day today! Dante slept until almost 9am, allowing us a really nice lie in. After breakfast, while Kiko and Dante were playing I went and picked up groceries for the week and did my weekly car wash. I also bought an electric teapot with temperature gauge. I’ve started getting into drinking loose leaf teas and they require more specific temperatures and my teapot wasn’t cutting it.
When I came home, since it was a gorgeous day we decided to go to the lake for a nice walk and to run around. Dante had a great time and fell asleep in the car on the way home. And since he needed to nap, but we knew he would wake up and never go back to sleep, I stayed in the car listening to my audiobook and playing Solitaire for about 1.5 hours while he napped. And then we just had a nice evening, playing, watching TV and relaxing. Dante went down to bed pretty well tonight, a few tears but nothing ridiculous. I think we are back on track!
Monday
Today did not go as planned, but it was a good day. I did my miracle morning and Dante slept well so we were right on schedule this morning. When I got back from taking him to daycare I called the Dentist because Kiko is in a lot of pain from the temporary crowns they put in last week. They could see him at 4pm and since he wanted me to go with him, I had to cancel my gym plans. But I got laundry done, meal prep done, work done, did some school work, and cleaned out Dante’s toys – he has WAY too many and it was time to let some go. I put them in my trunk, I’ll keep them for a week. If he doesn’t seem to miss anything, I’ll be donating them at the end of the week. We had a nice evening as well, Dante didn’t want his dinner but was happy to eat Kiko’s so, okay then. We watched an episode of “Yellowstone” on Peacock and then after dinner we played. Dante was in a good mood tonight and even went to sleep with minimal trouble. So not the day I planned for – and I’m getting to bed about 30 minutes late – but a good day!
Tuesday
Today was pretty okay. Dante had therapy this morning – his last session for a little while because his therapist is leaving for a new job and with the holidays… I have a feeling it will be January before he starts up again. I’m okay with that, I have plenty to work on with him and he’s made great progress. Then I had work – found out that we will be having a survey, most likely the week after Thanksgiving. We won’t know the exact date, but we at least know we’re on the schedule for sometime soon. It’ll be a full week and since our Admin’s last day is Friday, it means I’m going to be very busy and the next few weeks won’t be fun. Grr. I also haven’t heard from them with the job offer yet, which is surprising-ish. She told me Friday she would be making an offer, but offers have to go through Talent so I guess they’re holding things up? IDK. I also spent a lot of today working on my coding homework and troubleshooting some design problems. I figured out one problem that had been bugging me for a while and now I have two more that I need to figure out. I love it, though. It’s so satisfying when I figure it out.
I made it to the gym today and afterwards quick shower, picked up Dante, dinner and playtime. We had a nice time and he went down for bed even easier tonight than last night. We’re getting back in the groove *knock on wood*!
Wednesday
Another day that didn’t go as planned, but worked out. Morning was smooth and to routine, I had to wake Dante up he was sleeping so well! Work was busy though. And I left about 30 minutes later than I had planned, which meant I did not make it to the gym. I settled for running a couple errands and then going for a 30 minute walk. So not according to plan. I was glad that with the extra time I was able to stop at Target though- my teapot that I bought just IDK Friday? stopped working last night. So I returned it and bought a different model. Really hoping it does better! Besides that, today was fairly uneventful! Yay!!
Thursday
Out of the days that haven’t gone to plan this week, this was the most off plan of all, and unfortunately not in a good way. The morning went okay, I did my miracle morning and got Dante out the door on time. I did a quick grocery pickup on the way home and was later getting home than I planned. And then I didn’t get the things I planned to done before my first meeting. And then my second meeting got moved and yeah, you get the idea? It was just a free for all.
Then I took Kiko for his COVID booster shot and the day went to hell. He has a lot of anxiety about anything medical. So I often go with him to help manage the anxiety. Things like filling out forms, answering questions, making sure they use a clean needle, etc. Well, what I didn’t realize today was that he wanted me to watch the liquid go in his arm. I mean, really, who would think to worry about whether or not the just poke you or actually put the shot in? Especially when he’s getting the shot at the hospital I work at, so I literally know the nurse giving him the shot. ANYWAY…. I saw a full needle, a saw an empty needle, but I was looking down when they actually administered the shot. And boy was he pissed. He went so far as to say he’s going to have to get another one because now he doesn’t know he got it. It was half an argument on the way home and then dead silence. Basically he (unfairly) blamed me for not being able to foresee all his neurosis. 16 years and he still shocks me with the things he gets worried about. And that just wrecked my afternoon. I couldn’t focus on my coding homework (and I’m a little behind on it). And I didn’t feel like eating lunch. And I did not want to go to the gym. I ended up calling my brother and talking to him for 2 hours. I felt better and by time Kiko came home we were able to have a reasonable talk and he’s not going to run out and get another shot. He’s still not 100% sure he got one, but he’s like 90% I think?
And then we had a nice evening, but I just didn’t really accomplish anything I needed to today. Hoping tomorrow goes better. At least Dante’s part of the day was good and happy. That’s the most important thing.
Friday
I had a pretty decent day. I did not do my complete miracle morning – but I did everything except yoga and meditation. We got out the door on time and Dante was happy at drop off. Work was quick and easy today as it was our admin’s last day (she got a promotion) and we were doing a farewell lunch for her. We had sushi YUM! The place we went to has these amazing riceless rolls and so I didn’t even feel bad about eating out (except the expense). While we were out – only a few of us were still there actually – I got the phone call with the job offer. It had taken longer because the company I work for is dumb, basically. They give each job a grade and since the job I would be moving to is the same grade as my current job, they tried to call it a lateral move and say I didn’t qualify for a pay raise. The department hiring me argued and was able to bump the offer up to $9k more a year. And while that sounds good – when I factor in the changes I’m going to incur with not being able to work from home and being as busy as I will be, the answer is an easy no. I’m actually kind of glad they weren’t able to offer more because then it would have been a harder choice. I didn’t say no on the call, I said I needed to talk it over with my husband and that I would get back to them on Monday. But it’s a no. And I’m glad that a decision is made.
I went to visit with Zach (Phil’s partner) after lunch and had a nice time chatting with him. My brother gets back tomorrow and he’s really missed him, which I also love. I was supposed to go to the gym but I was in relax mode and decided to just take it easy. Then I got Dante and this evening we had a really nice dinner and playtime. Very relaxing evening.
Saturday
We had a really nice day today. After a relaxing morning, hanging outside with Dante on the balcony – beautiful 70 degree weather with sun – we had an afternoon playdate at a park. Dante spent a good portion running away from me and giggling – so he had a good time, even if it was frustrating. Then we went for a walk with strollers because the kiddos were stressed it. We also had some snacks – cheese, crackers, wine, olives and pickles, yum. Dante fell asleep on the way home (and on the way there actually) so he kind of got a nap for the day! When we came home he played a bit, had dinner, played some more and then bedtime!
Kiko is not feeling well – side effects of the shot, is my guess. But, geez he is so dramatic about not feeling well. On one hand, he’s happy he has side effects because now he believes he got his booster shot. On the other hand, he is acting like he’s deathly ill. He is not deathly ill. Lord help us all if he truly gets sick. LOL if I acted the way he does when I don’t feel well he would not know what to do.

This week I finished:
I’m participating in 4 reading challenges this year. Here’s how I’m doing:
Backlist Reader hosted by Lark @ Bookwyrms Hoard: 45 books
Library Love hosted by Books of My Heart & Angel’s Guilty Pleasures: 13 books
New Release hosted by (un)Conventional Bookworms: 14 books
COYER (Fall) hosted by Because Reading: 20 books
Added to My Shelf
I’m trying to be more responsible about keeping track of the books I acquire, so I’m going to start sharing them again. If I share them here, surely I’ll remember to add them to Goodreads, right?
Glad the days that went off plan went well anyway. Looks like you’ve got a nice stack of books to enjoy after this week’s haul. Have a great week, Berls!
Well, even though many days didn’t go as planned, glad they turned out okay. The COVID booster is tough… Hopefully he’s feeling better about it and knows he got the vaccine (especially if he wasn’t feeling well?). I just scheduled my booster for next week after the holiday.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Men can be the biggest babies when they don’t feel well.
My sister is really scared of needles and has to be sedated when she has a shot of any kind.
Have a good week.
Well I am glad Dante had a great week even though many other things were off plan and probably frustrating. I hope you have a really Happy Thanksgiving and get a bit of a break from things with family time for the holiday.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Sounds like quite the week! My nephew is a somewhat picky eater too. He just seems too busy to eat (he’s 2), lol. But this week when my mom was still watching him, we were eating dinner and he sat on his grandpa’s lap and fed him his (Grandpa’s) dinner. Lol. We tried offering him the same food but he shook his head no and continued feeding Grandpa! lol.
Nice new reads! Lots of new to me ones but I did read The Dead List some years ago! Since it was a JLA book, I remember I loved it, though I can’t quite remember much about it now. Lol.
Happy Reading!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
