The one with Spring

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kim @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

News at Home

Truth is, I don’t know what I did this week. I know I felt super UNproductive at work. I mean, I worked and got stuff done, but I was not focused. I think it was just too beautiful outside to be trapped at a desk! Spring has sprung and I’m loving it. My plants are starting to sprout which is super exciting – I did mainly flowers (Sunflowers, Zinnias, and this Lilly plant I keep forgetting it’s full name) – and some tomatoes. I need to plant my jalepanos. I wasn’t going to do them this year, but Kiko asked about them and it’s not too late to plant them, so I’m going to grab some Sunday (today now) and plant them, if all goes to plan. Friday I stayed up super late because we started a movie with the intention of watching half and then finishing it the next day. Well it was too good and we didn’t finish it until after 11 p.m. If you’re interested in a really good move, based on real events, check out Just Mercy on HBO.

Saturday is going to be a big day — I’m writing this Saturday morning because Saturday is going to be SO BUSY. Dante slept until after 9am (bless him after our late night!!) and we just finished breakfast. We are going out to Campbell to see Franky for his birthday (it was the 6th – he turned 21!!) and since it’s over an hour away and we want to be able to stay late, we’re planning to stay the night. I do think that’s a good choice, so we can really relax and have a nice time without a really late night drive and coming home to no parking, etc. BUT It means packing a lot up. I have my list that I’ve been adding to the past couple days as I think of things we’ll need, so hopefully I won’t forget anything.

Blog News

Well I managed to visit like 3 blog posts this week. So yeah, still have some work to do on that. I’m trying. Please know that I do read and love all comments, even if I don’t reply (they come to my email and I love reading them).

We wrapped up Can You Read a Series in a month and you can link up to your post (blog, goodreads, twitter, facebook, instagram, etc) by April 12th 11:59 PM EST for a chance to win a $5 Amazon Gift Card. I finished my series – Princess of Hell – and have posted the review already. So I’m super happy with how the challenge went (I’ve never not completed this challenge somehow) and look forward to the next tie we do it.

Challenge update

This week I finished:

I’m participating in 4 reading challenges this year. Here’s how I’m doing:

Backlist Reader hosted by Lark @ Bookwyrms Hoard: 15 (1 added this week)

Library Love hosted by Books of My Heart & Angel’s Guilty Pleasures: 2

New Release hosted by (un)Conventional Bookworms: still 0! I don’t read many new releases do I?!

COYER (Spring) hosted by Because Reading: 10 (I read 13 in Winter, so I’m picking up my pace with the looser rules!)

My big goal for 2021 is to get down to my goal weight. It means losing 70 pounds this year. If I keep going the way I’m going, it won’t happen. And yet, this week was another rough one. I just am having such a hard time with food and I honestly am starting to feel like, if I gain when I eat right, then why bother?

I haven’t thrown in the towel yet, though! I actually rejoined the gym I went to before Dante was born. I have missed it so much and I had intended to rejoin when Dante was 6 months, but with COVID I didn’t feel safe returning. Well, I have my vaccine and so does Kiko. CDC says that if you have the vaccine your chances are super low – not just of catching COVID, but of bringing it home, which has been my main concern with Dante. And I will still wear my mask and wash hands, etc.

So I’m signed up for classes Monday – Friday this upcoming week at 6 a.m. Fingers crossed it goes well!! I’m excited.

Weight gain/loss: +1.4 lbs for the year

Added to My Shelf

I’m trying to be more responsible about keeping track of the books I acquire, so I’m going to start sharing them again. If I share them here, surely I’ll remember to add them to Goodreads, right?

I didn’t share my new additions last week, so this is the past 2 weeks (so not as bad as it looks, but still too many books… wait? is there such a thing really?!)

How was your week? What are you Reading?

  1. I’m so glad you got to go and visit Franky! And that is SO exciting having a gym again! Let me know how it goes!! Jeff and I are SO not morning people but with our health goals, we’re feeling like we need to force ourselves to be. We’re both thinking about getting our workouts done in the mornings

I’ll definitely be adding Just Mercy to things to.l check out list.

I hope this week goes great for you!

  2. I read Stevenson’s book (Just Mercy) and was blow away. Such a great story. If you like that and want something fictional, read The Guardians by John Grisham. So good!! Hope you had a great time visiting with Frankie!

  3. Firstly, there is no such thing as too many books. Secondly, I feel so hard the weeks that I’m busy but nothing about them seems memorable enough to talk about so it feels like I did nothing. But I DID! lol And lastly, good for you for getting back to the gym. I need to do something. Maybe I’ll join the Y down the road if working outside doesn’t help with my gut and flying squirrel arms.

I hope you have a great time and a wonderful week! xoxo

  4. A night away will be nice! These days, any sort of mini vacation sounds relieving! I’m hoping to get a long weekend in at the end of June. Fingers crossed that it can still happen! Hope you have a lovely time!

Nice new reads!! Lots of new to me ones here! Though I love Chloe’s series here! This one was just as amazing as the rest! Hope you enjoy your new reads too!
