Sunday
Today was just errands and getting ready for the week. I did some meal prep and finished laundry and basically relaxed. Honestly, the most relaxing weekend I’ve had in a while. Now to make sure I can replicate it every weekend lol!
Monday
I ran out of time to do this post yesterday (today is Tuesday) and I honestly can’t remember much about Monday. It was a Monday. Oh and Kiko started getting sick and, in typical husband fashion, he’s being a GIGANTIC baby about it. Dante does better when he’s sick than Kiko. He’s got a cold, that’s it. I’m not saying it doesn’t suck to not feel well, but goodness gracious! He went to the store to get medicine, called me at least 2 times asking questions and then when he came home he was all, “can you get Dante ready for bed tonight? I don’t want to get him sick.” Okay, sure, but seriously? I’ve had a cold for days and it hasn’t even registered with him.
Tuesday
We hit another milestone today! At daycare drop off Dante’s teacher’s were busy and I couldn’t hand him to one of them directly. But I also know it doesn’t help to linger, so I said goodbye to Dante and started to walk away. He started to follow me and I was worried that he was going to chase me and start crying. Instead, he was chasing me to close the door behind me! Y’all he was basically saying, “bye mom! Get out of here!” I am so happy to see him happy at daycare. It’s been about 6 weeks since he started, not too bad really.
This afternoon I got out of work early – we’re super slow – and met a friend for happy hour. She’s vaccinated. I’m vaccinated. It’s so nice to be able to do things like this again, however cautiously.
Wednesday
Today went by in a blur. I did step class this morning and then it was the standard morning rush. I made this HUGE mistake of wearing a pair of cute heels… y’all my feet forgot how to walk in heels after a year of not wearing them ever (and I wore them rarely even before COVID). By the end of the day I was so done I actually called Kiko to throw me down a different pair of shoes before trying to climb three flights with Dante.
I had bad traffic on the way home and didn’t get Dante until about 15 minutes later than normal and when I got there he was crying (as were some other kids who normally weren’t there at pickup – I think traffic was getting all the parents). And he was inconsolable when we got home… I pulled together dinner extra quickly and suddenly he was a happy boy. I thought he’s been hangry before but this was HANGRY. LOL! I also think we got a glimpse of the temper tantrums coming when he gets a little older. Save me now :/
Thursday
Today was not the best day. My workout was good this morning, but Dante was already waking up when I got home (a full 30 – 45 minutes early… my get ready time). And he was SO MOODY! I have no idea what his problem was, but he was not happy. Kiko was in a mood too, because he doesn’t feel 100% and he’s got some drama going on with his brother.
Then I went to the dentist – first time in almost 2 years. I was behind going because of an insurance change, and then when I finally was scheduled to go, COVID hit. And I was on a every 4 -6 months schedule because I have gum trouble. So I knew it wouldn’t be great. Well it wasn’t awful, but I did have to have a scaling. And even though insurance saved me over $1k, it still cost me almost $700.
So I was in a mood and decided to cheer myself up by getting Starbucks. The one I went to took FOREVER – 20 minutes for my drink. And it then they got it wrong and made it with coffee (I hate coffee, I know, Starbucks has other drinks though!). But because it had taken 20 minutes I didn’t realize until I was back in the car. So I ended up giving in to my brother and being pissed every time I saw the cup. LOL
On the plus, today was my WFH day so I was with Phil and Zach. I had La Madeline for lunch, yum! And Dante was in a great mood this evening. So hopefully things are looking up for tomorrow and the weekend.
Friday
Well today was also not great. I took cough medicine before bed and I guess it wore off at about 4 a.m. because that’s when I woke up and was unable to go back to sleep because I was coughing. I took some more medicine but I was tossing and turning so much I went to the couch so at least Kiko could get some sleep. My neck and shoulders were really aching bad too. I finally fell back asleep around 5 I think and I slept until 6:45, when I had to get up so I could get ready for work. At least I had an easy day ahead of me, I told myself. We had plans to leave work early today for an employee appreciation luncheon and early release day.
Well, I got a phone call while I was in the shower at 7:15 am from work. We were getting an unannounced survey and the surveyor was on her way to the hospital. There went my easy day. Since I am one of the main ones in our department for organizing surveys, I had a busy day and it began on my car ride to work. I dropped Dante off at daycare about 5 minutes early and then the whole 20 minute drive to work I was on the phone directing people. Thankfully I’m super organized so it was easy to direct people from the car and when I walked in I was able to just go straight to the command center where things were already up and running.
I don’t think I can legally say much in such a public forum, but basically my day was not a good one. On the plus side, we all agreed drinks were warranted and I had about an hour before I had to leave to pick up Dante so I had a margarita. When I picked up Dante he was happy and we had a great evening. He ate a ton again tonight and I think he’s likely to shoot up a few inches very soon the way he’s packing away food. And I’m exhausted, hoping to get a good nights sleep!
Saturday
Last night my cough woke me up at 2 a.m. and even though I immediately took medicine I tossed and turned enough to vacate to the couch. I fell asleep again around 3:30 a.m. and slept until Dante woke up at 7:30. Thankfully our couch is very comfortable and I sleep well on it.
Today was a play date day. We left around 9:30 and spent the day at my friend Melissa’s. She has two boys – almost 3 and almost 8 – so Dante plays well with the little one. She’s a teacher and just got moved from Kinder to 2nd grade, so we were working on projects to get her materials ready. We also did some playing outside with the boys and we had lots of veggies, cheese and wine. Her mom and step-dad came over later and we had pizza, wings and more wine. Lots of fun! We didn’t get home until 9:30, so tomorrow will be a busy day but well worth it!

Challenge update
This week I finished:
I’m participating in 4 reading challenges this year. Here’s how I’m doing:
Backlist Reader hosted by Lark @ Bookwyrms Hoard: 25
Library Love hosted by Books of My Heart & Angel’s Guilty Pleasures: 4
New Release hosted by (un)Conventional Bookworms: 1
COYER (Spring) hosted by Because Reading: 31
FitReaders (hosted by Jen @ That’s What I’m Talking About & Felicia The Geeky Blogger)
My big goal for 2021 is to get down to my goal weight. It means losing 70 pounds this year. I’m almost feel like I should cut this section out of my Sunday Post – I’ve been doing so awful all year. This week has been another really bad week, complete with weight gain and frustration, despite exercise and mostly healthy food choices.
Added to My Shelf
I’m trying to be more responsible about keeping track of the books I acquire, so I’m going to start sharing them again. If I share them here, surely I’ll remember to add them to Goodreads, right?
What a week! Good vibes for a better one coming up.
I get the same exact drink at Starbucks every time and it’s amazing to me how it’s always made differently by each person and sometimes doesn’t’ taste at all like it’s supposed to even though it is the right drink.
I haven’t read Dakota Cassidy in years. Her books are a lot of fun.

Sorry to hear you aren’t feeling 100%. I hope your cough gets better.
OMG – I’ve had a similar experience with Starbucks. I cannot stand coffee, but drink tea. We were driving home across country (a two-day car trip) and pulled into a rest area. I got myself a yummy tea latte, or so I thought. We were a couple miles down the road when I found out it wasn’t what I ordered. You can’t turn around on the turnpike… sigh.
As for FitReaders – you should do what is best FOR YOU. I like to keep my check-ins, even on bad stretches, because it helps with consistency and not going further off course. But that is me. If the posts are bringing you down or frustrating you, try taking a break. See if that helps restart something.
An up and down week with a cold. Poor Berls! Wishing you well and Kiko, too. Yay for Dante doing great at day care. I enjoyed the new Danielle Garrett series. Hopefully, this Sunday is restful for you. 🙂
Coughs are rough because you lose sleep and they tend to continue even after you are over the sick. I get Robitussin pills which last 8 hours to take at night. They can be hard to find though. I need to lose my Covid weight gain but it was hard with my injury. Now that I’m better we are walking but it’s going to be HOT in July and August. I hope this week is smoother.

Coughs are the worst! And so are dental bills. I had a cleaning scheduled for last March, obviously didn’t happen. And two crowns in June, also didn’t happen. The crowns would have been $1200 after my insurance! Why?!?!? Now I don’t even have dental insurance, soooo…they’re definitely not happening anytime soon.
That sounds like a rough week! I hope this week runs a bit smoother for you.
Nice new reads too! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I hope your cough/colds clear up swiftly! I hate it when I have a cough that’s so bad it stops me sleeping/keeps waking me up.
I’m curious about the Danielle Garrett books. She’s been on my radar for a while but I don’t know where to start with her books!
