Week in READview:

That’s right, I said it, January is the preview of the year. It’s the month to figure your shit out and start fresh in Feb, don’t question me, it’s totally a fact. 😛

I didn’t have a post last Sunday because everything was so crazy. My daughter had practice three days and on the Sunday she had two competitions. One was a showcase and one was a virtual comp that I am not sure when it will be judged. This week was a normal cheer week and the weekend was no comps or practice. My mom took both of the kids to her house to hang out so my husband and I could spend some time together alone. We binged watched the show Evil and just hung out. It was just nice to be alone with him.

Today we are celebrating my mom’s birthday (it’s on Monday), the family is coming over to eat and we hope to just make her day good since it is the first one without my dad. She is still having a very hard time without him so I hope yesterday with the kids and today, makes her feel better.

I have found a nice routine for the week that I think will help me get my blogging and design work done. I am still actively looking for a job but can’t seem to find much remote in the area, a lot of it is all internships and I do need to get paid so I will keep looking. I would prefer a job that I can do remote sometimes but also go into the office, I love the idea of working from home but I get super distracted and would rather leave the house once in a while. If I could just get unemployment then I can take my time to look for something but now I feel like I am in a rush. In the meantime, I will continue to keep looking and do my own design stuff until NJ gets their shit together and calls me. If you need any design work, see below!

Anyway, I usually get up in the morning and make coffee get the kids ready for virtual school and then go into my “office” to work from 9am to 2pm. I worked pretty well last week so I plan to do it again this week for the full week. So I am hoping to get back into the swing of blogging since I always seem to fall off at the beginning of the year.

  1. Happy birthday to your mom! I hope you guys had an awesome day. And good luck wirh the job search. That’s always fun, right *insert sarcasm*

Competitions are weird now, at least they are here, with all the restrictions and everything. I hope it’s going well. We have color guard here and we’re not even sure how many competitions there will be, or if there will be… everything’s up in the air. Oh well.

    Be well this week!

  2. I can get behind starting the year officially on February 1st. 🙂 I was just about to say our busy will start next month when show rehearsals start, but it’s already busy–it’ll just get busier! Am I ready? I guess I’ll have to be.

Happy Birthday to your mom, Michelle. Those firsts are always so hard. Sending hugs her way and to you too.

I hope you have a great week!

  3. Yay for a date night and for getting in a rhythm with your home and work stuff. Wishing you well on the job hunt that will hopefully give you a nice split of in office and home. Sounds like a fun idea for your mom’s birthday.

    Have a good week, Michelle!

  4. Fingers crossed the job search works out. I know a lot of people are in the same boat. Sounds like NJ and CA can’t seem to get it together. They keep locking us down to essential only. That’s great that your daughter has the chance to compete we had everything here shut down last year and have yet to have activities opened. I don’t know how our girl scouts will sell cookies this year. I 110% agree that January is a preview I’m doing the same thing trying to find a routine that works the best. Have a great week, and enjoy your time with family.

  5. Happy birthday to your mom! Give her a hug for me, it sounds like you’re doing everything you can to make it a good one without your dad ❤️.

Ugh stupid unemployment already. Will they give you back pay for how long it’s taking? At least you’ll also get supplemental since that’s been extended. I hope you find something you really love.

Hugs!!! So I’d prefer to think of January as a rehearsal than a preview. Because I want to think that January is still making mistakes that the rest of the months will gradually get better at before we go into full on performances 😉

    Hugs!!! ❤️

  6. Hope the job search goes well! I know how difficult it can be as I was just recently there. Wishing you all the luck! Remember to apply for anything and everything that will help you financially and you know is a job you can do. By the time I got interview requests I had to sift through all my email receipts to see what the job was actually for! I also hope you unemployment will kick in soon too! You’d think all the states would have this down pat after last year. Wishing you all the luck!

Yay for book boxes! I’m still waiting on my Fairy Loot book which is now almost a month in transit making me panic as it seems EVERYONE else has gotten it already. Really hate when my international mail has to act wonky…any other time everything arrives perfectly normal and on time. Sigh…

Hope you enjoy your reading for the week!

    Have a GREAT day!

    • I think that is super frustrating when they had a year to figure out how to make the unemployment transition easier but instead they still seem to be in a state of chaos and panic. I am trying to find something that I can do from home for now and then move into a work space, COVID still have me worried and my husband is high risk so I can’t take the chance of getting him infected with this new strain.

I was going to get rid of my Owlcrate but I just can’t, I love the surprise every month. I tried FairyLoot but I didn’t like it took so long to get, they do have great stuff so I stick with the Owlcrate for now.
