Out With The Old: April 2014
Some Quick Facts:
- Books Read: 8 Books
- Books Reviewed: 5 reviews
- Favorite Book Read: Cutlass (Cutlass #1) by Ashley Nixon
- Favorite Post: World Autism Awareness Day #AutismAwareness
This month I introduced a new layout for my Author Spotlight Feature. It was a way to get you to know the person behind the author more. It was also the start of me filling my months with nothing but Author Spotlights. I love helping authors and this was a great way to share the love but it got a little out of control this year. A lot out of control
Whats to Come in 2015
It pains me to say this and I know that some of you actually enjoyed it and I loved doing it but it become more work then I wanted. The Author Spotlight will be fazed out next year or VERY random. I have taken the page off of my navigation bar already. I am not 100% sure what I will be doing with it and any author already on my page is welcome to post on my blog again with any new books that might have that why want to promote. I just don’t think I will be offering any Author Spotlights and If I do it will be very selective.
My Review Policy is going to be updated and I might actually start taking some reviews again but it will be for a limited time. I wish I could do more in this area but I am by myself and am not a fast reader. I am also not getting a co-blogger to help since I am too OCD to have anyone work with me. I need things done my way, it’s my one bad quality. I have serious control issues, ask my husband 😉
Thanks for stopping by to Check out my recap of April and what’s to come in 2015
Have a great day and Happy Reading
Hahaha I have control issues too – I don’t think I could handle having a co-blogger. Maybe a reviewer that sent me their stuff. But then that would be more not less work, right?
I did love the change you made to author spotlights this month, but I’m excited to see more you! Maybe occasionally?
Maybe, I haven’t decided what I want to do with that yet. It’s just a lot of work to set up and as much as I loved doing it, its taking a little bit of the fun away.
I liked your author spotlights, Michelle, but I completely understand wanting to cut something out. If maintaining something like this is so time consuming, it makes the process less fun. And blogging should be fun!
I know what you mean about wanting to keep the blog all to yourself, Michelle… I want my blog to be only mine, too, and it’s both because I want things done my way, and because it’s my favorite hobby. I can understand why some bloggers team up and do it together, though, but it’s not for me.
I hope you’ve had a terrific Christmas, and that you still have some more time to spend with family and loved ones.
Exactly it’s just so nice to work at your own pace.
Have a few more days with the family and I plan to enjoy it 🙂 we slept in till 10 am today, I never do that lol
I read a few of the author spotlights, but I never really knew what to comment, especially when I don’t know the author.
I always keep review requests open, but I don’t accept a lot of requests. I just can’t stand the thought to close review requests and maybe miss an amazing book, lol.
While I started out as a co-blogger on another blog I can say for sure I will never invite a co-blogger to Lola’s Reviews. I like having my own place and having complete control over it, I am a bit of a control freak and I like it that way.
I thought your author spotlights were cool but I can understand them getting a little hectic as well. 🙂
