Out With The Old: September 2014
Some Quick Facts:
- Books Read: 6 Books
- Books Reviewed: 9 reviews
- Favorite Book Read: Once by Staci Hart
- Favorite Post: #Review ~ Crane by Stacey Rourke
This year I had 10 DNF this is the most I have ever had, I was so sad by most of them and I felt awful but I just coudn’t get through them and I wasn’t far to me or the author to finish a book then review it if I hated it. I rather just bail, usually I don’t review but I started leaving a couple lines on Goodreads by I didn’t finish it nothing too mean just so you know why I had to put it down.
Whats to Come in 2015
I plan to try a lot hard to get through a book and not DNF however I only plan to spend 3 days on it, if I can’t get to 25% in those three days I’m out. This doesn’t count if I have no time to read this means if I read the book and it’s so slow or just not my thing I can’t read it. I HATE DNF books but I have so many books I might like that I need to just suck it up and move on to the next. I like the idea of writing a small little snippet on Goodreads about why I didn’t finish, I am never mean or bashing of the author just a it didn’t work for me but you might love it type of review. It at least lets people know my thoughts but also leaves it open for you to read the book if you wanted it. Some crazy stuff have gone on this year with Bloggers and Authors and I would like to keep under the radar which is why when I review a book I like to keep it my personal feelings, I honestly don’t even notice half the stuff other people see, I just read to read. 🙂 A few errors never hurt anyone so I don’t point them out, I understand if the books is full of them than that could be a problem but maybe a private email would work better than posting it in a review but I think no matter what you do people feel bad when you DNF.
Thanks for stopping by to Check out my recap of September and what’s to come in 2015
Have a great day and Happy Reading
I agree with you on DNFs, Michelle. I don’t want to waste precious time on something I’m not enjoying but I do give it the ‘old college try’. I haven’t reviewed a DNF on my blog because I’ve never been sure how to go about it. But keeping it personal seems like a good thing. I have heard of some of the interactions between bloggers and authors this past year and it’s scary stuff. I’m happy to fly under the radar as well. 🙂
I don’t like to DNF either, but I also am not into wasting time on a book. I like your 3 day, 25% rule. I may apply that too! I like doing my dnf reviews, though. I don’t want drama, but I don’t want to feel scared either if that makes sense.
Yeah, I didn’t have as many DNF’s as you did but I always hate having to do it. I did have 5, one I haven’t mentioned on the blog yet..but I just can’t see making myself read something I can’t like. I give it a few days like you..then if I set it down and go on and start reading other books and don’t even feel like I want to even start back up on the other one then I know it’s a DNFed book.
