"Lies. Crime.
Theft.
Murder.
Anything goes.
To be with her. This must be what love is.
That is what she thought.
In order to protect this feeling...she would do anything."Satou Matsuzaka doesn't seem to care about much, moving through boys and casting them aside like so used candy wrappers. All that changes, though, when she meets Shio. The little girl changes everything for Matsuzaka. Is this love...? If it is, then it's love through a very warped prism as the high schooler demonstrates there's no atrocity beyond her when it comes to protecting the object of her deranged affection.
First Impression: Why did you want to read this book?
Before leaving work one day (Barnes and Noble) I asked a few co-workers to pick Manga that they think I should read. So one of my co-workers picked this and she warned me that it is a little bit of a different read. This book is about grooming and it is made to make you feel uncomfortable because the MC and you know that what is going on is wrong. It’s suppose to make you feel like this and while it was super uncomfortable, I was a bit hooked and wanted to see what happened next.
Tell me a little about the Characters and/or world build (if any)?
The MC is Satou Matsuzaka she is a bit of a girl that gets around but she has found someone that she loves…Sato-Chan, she is a little girl, probably around 8. Satou is in school but also has a job because she has a reputation for getting around, this causes her issues with a few people. She isn’t against blackmail, intimidation, theft or murder. She is a sociopath and narcissistic. She knows what she is doing is wrong but makes excuses for what she is doing. There is one other character in the book that is sexually assaulted and while our MC does rescue him you know she is still doing something wrong so you can’t really cheer her on. She is not a hero or anti-hero, she is someone that has deep issues and the author makes sure to show that every chance he can get.
What was your favorite thing about this book?
Not sure if it would be favorite but just the way this book is done, while uncomfortable, it really draws you in, in a way that makes you know what is happening is wrong and it is suppose to make you feel the way you are feeling.
What didn’t you like about the book?
Obviously the overall idea of what is happening I don’t like but it wont stop me from getting volume two because I am invested in Sato-Chans well being.
Thoughts after reading: Overall Rating and Why?
I gave this 4 stars, while uncomfortable and a bit disturbing, I can’t seem to stop myself from wanting to see what happens next in volume 2. I think this manga is an interesting read and while I do recommend it, it has triggers and you would need to be prepared to read it.
Thanks for stopping by to check out my review.
Have a great day and Happy Reading!
