Halloween, Birthday and a Break ~ WIR & TSP

Posted November 6, 2016 by Michelle in The Sunday Post, WIReadview / 27 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog, Books & Real Life:

This week was SUPER crazy! Halloween was so much fun and the kids looked awesome. Ryan was Sans from his favorite video game Undertale and Julia was a gothic doll. They really had a great day but it was CRAZY! They even carved pumpkins all by themselves. It was a very fun day.

On Wednesday it was Julia’s 9th birthday, we didn’t do that much but she was able to go get the toy she wanted and I made her a yummy minecraft cake. Every year I do a birthday wall for the kids. I have one wall in the kitchen that I dress up for their birthdays. Julia asked for a Minecraft theme and I added the witch because her and I hate witches when playing together. She was very happy with it

The rest of the week was crazy busy and Friday, the day I usually have off, I was working so I didn’t get as much as I would have liked. Friday Night, Saturday and most likely today also, I will be RIPPING my daughters room apart. It’s a disaster, I can’t stand looking at the room. Next week I will be taking a little bit of a break, working a little behind the scenes and since the kids have off most of the week, I don’t want to fill my week to much because I don’t know how much they will let me do. So this blog week is a little light but I am hoping I will be able to get some stuff finished. I also want to be fresh for when COYER starts.

Speaking of COYER….Sign Ups start November 17th

This one is a challenge, it was NOT ME! but I think it will be fun!
And those die hard COYER fans will enjoy this time around.

  1. My parents are both very organized and tidy, and I…..am not so much of either. I know all the years I lived at home were very trying to my tidy parents, because my room was always a disaster zone!!! 😉 I didn’t realize how often my mum cleaned out my room until I out and realized how much housework being an adult involves!

  2. The kids’ Halloween costumes look great, and they did a terrific job carving their pumpkins! I wish you luck getting things cleaned up in J’s room. Here, it’s my study/office that needs massive cleaning up. I started before I got sick, but couldn’t keep it up, so there are all these boxes of partially-sorted stuff waiting for me to finish them.

You keep dropping these ominous hints about the next COYER, and making me nervous. Oh, well, if it looks too tough I can just set my goals lower, I guess!

Have a great week and happy reading!

  3. Your kids looked great for Halloween and Happy Birthday to Julia! I saw the pile of toys on Facebook and I’ve been there before. We have to do it again with my youngest daughter’s room too. She saves everything, it’s so frustrating lol. I can’t wait to hear the rules for COYER. I hope you have a great week!

  4. The Halloween costumes look pretty great! So why are the kids off most of next week? We have off a full week, but not until thanksgiving week. I need to get to work on the COYER post. I’ve been busy in my blog this weekend and with nano so I haven’t done it yet. Have a great week 🙂 {hugs}

  5. Your kids look great in their Halloween costumes! Glad they had a fun Halloween even though it was crazy. The Minecraft birthday wall looks great. I haven’t encountered many witches yet when playing Minecraft, I haven’t played it in a while.

I am looking forward to the next Coyer! The graphic for it looks great and I am curious what you all have planned for this one.

I hope next week is a bit quieter for you and you’ll have a great week!

  6. Great costumes! Looks like you guys had a blast. Halloween was fun here too. the weather didn’t suck for a change (we’ve had cold rain and even snow in the oast few years, but this yr it was 50’s and decent). What’s this I see about COYER black out lol? I love tha image with the power out and the fire going. How fun! I’ll probably be in again. 🙂 I love how the book blogosphere has these events- COYER, HoHoHo, SciFi Month- it really makes the seasons fun.

I’m looking for a fresh year too, and may even do some challenges this year (I skipped challenges for 2016).

    Snowed Inn looks funny!

    • I am sticking to my own challenges and a few Read-a-thons, I stink at keeping track so I would rather just worry about mine and the new release challenge, I like that one.
Last few years Halloween has been crazy with the weather, it was cold but so nice 🙂
This COYER will be interesting, I can’t wait for it to go live on the 17th.

  7. The kids look great, glad everyone enjoyed Halloween. I saw the piles of toys on Facebook and laughed. I remember doing that in the fall to prepare for the holidays. My son didn’t want to get rid of anything, not even the boxes things came in! Hope your week is delightful!

  8. Love the kids’ costumes! Ryan’s costume especially made me laugh as the Tornado was OBSESSED with Undertale for awhile. He hasn’t played it but there’s this Youtube channel he’s obsessed with where the guy played through the game and he watched each episode multiple times. I actually enjoyed that one as it’s such a funny game. I don’t know if Ryan likes gaming type videos but we watch a lot of this guy called Swimmingbird941 who is pretty kid appropriate (except for a few of is first videos). We did have to discuss that “pissed” is not a word for 6 year olds but that’s about it. Good luck with room cleaning! I HATE doing that! Have a great week!

    • Thank you, Ryan was so excited about his costume. I had to do his makeup 2 times that day but it was worth it since he was so happy.
My son watches all types of videos not sure if he watches that one, I will ask him and my daughter since she likes the Toy videos and gaming.
The room is done, lets hope she keeps it like that. 🙂

  9. Yay for Coyer. I look forward to it. I am doing the Ho Ho Ho readathon too. I have already read a couple of Christmas books, because like you, I couldn’t wait, but I have a couple that I am saving.
I hate those bad reading streaks. I hope yours is over soon.

  10. Hope you didn’t get lost in your daughter’s room! So do you clean that out like once or twice a year cause I know you go in there now and then and almost get lost…lol. That pic you had on facebook…goodness she has a lot of stuff!

I am ready for this year to be over too and I hope that next year is great for all of us!

    Have a good week!

  11. My weeks lately have been crazy. What is up with 2016 anyway?! I’m afraid I may have to shoulder the blame on your reading issues. It’s the Monster Porn. I just know it. *hangs head* My reading issue is that I have no time to read anymore. I have too much else going on. And it’s burning me out. We’ll figure it out for 2017 though. Right? Tell me I’m right. 🙂

Have a wonderful week, Michelle! XOXO

    • Seriously! wasn’t 2016 suppose to be an awesome year. It had ONE JOB and it FAILED! 2017 better be better or I might have to sleep through the entire year.
Monster Porn is awesome and I think next year I might start added a few reviews (not on the blog but goodreads) for the ones I read and count them, instead of hiding my love for them 🙂

  12. What a fun idea to decorate a wall for their birthday’s! My daughter celebrated her birthday this week too!

New Sunday Post visitor. Enjoy your week and your new books.

  13. It makes me laugh that you keep pointing out that it isn’t your fault that COYER will be a challenge next time 😀
I should rip my daughter’s room apart, too. It’s a huge mess! But we just ripped it apart a couple of months ago, and I’m really fed-up with it all!
    Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading, Michelle! Miss your face lots and lots. {{{BIG HUGS}}}
