Week in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Itβs a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
On the Blog & Real Life:
I am back from my brief hiatus, I was planning on coming back on Friday but Minecraft and naps happened and I just needed that day to myself. Friday’s are my day off and with 6 hours alone in the house with just the dog and cat it’s like a little bit of heaven and I let everything slide to clear my head. Now I need to get back to it because I have fallen behind again on my organizing and blogging but that’s ok sometimes a little break is all you need to get back into the swing of things.
Kids got off to school great but not without a few hiccups. My son gets bused to school and of course 2 weeks before school is going to start we had no bus, then the bus service they got me the owner and person I would be in contact with didn’t speak english, I can’t have that, I need to be able to communicate with the person driving my son to and from school and my son needs to be able to talk to them if god forbid something was wrong. I called the Commission that handles the bus and raved like a lunatic because otherwise they don’t help you. Well I gave them the if you don’t get me another bus company my son isn’t going to school and Monday the 7th I got the message that the company was changed and the people that are driving him are fantastic. His driver is really nice and very good to Ryan so I am very happy that me raving like a mad woman got my son the service he needed.
The only good thing about this coming week is Bloggiesta starts on the 17th so I am hoping to get my ass moving and get all the stuff I need to get done…done. All these floating drafts need to get finished and scheduled.

You go, girl! I’m so happy you spoke up and got things taken care of for Ryan. Hopefully this will be a great school year for both your kiddos. π Nice haul of books and good luck with Bloggiesta. <3
We all need some down time every once in a while. Hopefully you got all the rest you needed. Looks like you got some really good books. I also received Sing Your Heart Out. Haven’t read it yet, though. Have a great week!
Yes it was a nice break, I needed to get the kids off to school and settled and it was nice to just step away.
I am rather excited to read it and I think it will be next since my tour is in the beginning of October.
It’s always good to have a small hiatus and get things done. I took a week off earlier this month and came back refreshed and ready to get my blogging on!
It was a much needed break with the kids going back to school and getting everyone settled plus it was nice to just step away but of course now I am behind but I am getting a bunch of stuff done and very happy about it.
Welcome Back! You know Minecraft is tricky that way—gonna pull you in π
They just came out with an update that makes it more like the computer and xbox version so now I am obsessed all over again.
Who else can be your child’s best advocate but you … glad you got the bus issue sorted! All your books are new to me. Have a great week and happy reading π
Thank you π I am too.
That is kind of crazy that a bus driver couldn’t speak the language. I don;t think everyone should speak English but a bus driver absolutely MUST! My friend’s son is really into Minecraft – she and his dad took him to a conference in the UK this past summer. Enjoy!
I have no issues with people that don’t speak English or even have a heavy accent but when you are working with kids and adults you should be able to speak the language that they do.
I have seen that conference so many times and I would love to go, I wish they would bring it to the US.
I would love an extra day off during the week and I can see how Minecraft can be tempting you. I’ve been playing Candy Crush and Soda Crush instead of reading lol. But it is nice to get a break from the reading. It’s good to hear you got the bus worked out and it’s nice to have the house to yourself. Have a great week Michelle!
I do love my day but I miss the money π I get so frustrated with Candy Crush that I bailed on that game.
I am glad it worked out because I was ready to kick some butt if it didn’t π
Time by the pool- can’t beat that! Gotta squeeze a little summer out yet, it went by too fast. And Minecraft and naps… LOL. Sounds like a pretty good friday.
Northwood has such a cool cover. Very eye catching.
Have a super week Michelle!
It really did go by very fast. Minecraft usually happens more than naps π
Sometimes I wonder if people who take care of our kid’s education actually think things through. Why would they think it was okay? Especially… ugh….
I fear the day my son gets a hold of Minecraft or Terraria. I pray it never happens. Mario is fine by me!!
Relax, regroup, and see you next week, girlie!!!! xoxo
I just don’t know how a parent would be ok with that. Just let there kid go with someone they can’t communicate with. It blows my mind.
We are a huge Terraria and Minecraft house. My son loves Terraria, it’s not a bad game but I enjoy Minecraft better π
I hope things go great for Ryan this year and he doesn’t have any problems with the bus ride. π Glad you were able to get things changed.
Happy reading! Have a great week!
Stormi
Thanks, Stormi! π
That’s a big hassle about the bus, glad you got it taken care of. In the district where I teach, the smaller buses all have 2 adults on board to help with loading students who need assistance and to cover them when there’s only one child in the bus. I’m sure it helps with communication, too. Someone can be a great person, know all their emergency tactics and a safe driver, but they have to be able to communicate with the passengers.
I have no issue with people that don’t speak english but I agree I need to be able to communicate with the person because if my son has an issue how will he tell them. The school doesn’t seem to put that into consideration when they pick a company for you. I am just glad my complete rant on a voice mail worked. It’s always a fight with them.
Your son is fortunate to have you on his side and do whatever it takes to get him what he needs. Good for you!
Good luck with the organizing and with Bloggiesta and have a great week!
Thank you Bea! I do my best for him, they make it rather difficult.
I used to rave and stamp my foot until I got the services I needed for my son and I don’t regret a moment n.or care what people thought of me, because my son came first.
I like the sound of your Friday me-days.. I wish I could empty the house for even a few hours a week, lol, of my husband, my kids, my pets… always a full house here though.
Have a great week ahead!
Sometimes it has to be done, I have gone through so much with him that if you don’t rave they don’t do anything.
The kids are in my ears every 5 minutes and the dog follows me around the house, the husband too. By the end of the summer I was almost ready to leave the house and go to Starbucks for an hour just for quiet time π sometimes you just need it.
Hope your hiatus was relaxing. I love the cover of the Haunting of Sunshine Girl and look forward to your review! I forgot about Bloggiesta. Enjoy your week my friend!
It was a good read, hoping to have the review up in October since it’s perfect for that month π
People may call us bitches, but raving works. π I try to limit my raving to important things though otherwise it loses effectiveness. lol Breaks are important. So are brakes, but that’s another story. Have a great week, Michelle!
Yes breaks are very important and so are Brakes otherwise Trees, Guardrails and highly populated areas happen and it’s never a good outcome. π
I’m kind of madly in love with the cover of Curiosity House. That looks like such a fun book! Sunshine Girl is also on my TBR list. Yay on the bus situation! It’s a shame that raving like a crazy person is the only way to get things accomplished but it definitely seems to be the case. I’ve had that happen a time or two as well. Have a great week!
The cover is great the book is not to bad, I have hit a slow spot but it’s starting to pick up. The illustrations inside are really great too.
Sunshine Girl was really good and having watched the Youtube series I already liked the girl even though she is a bad actress.
I realize sometimes that is the only way to get stuff done.
Welcome back! I’m so glad things worked out with Ryan’s bus service. And your new books look good, especially Northwood. I haven’t seen that one anywhere and I’m intrigued just from the cover. Have a great week!
Thank you π me too! I have the same problem every year it’s frustrating.
Northwood was cute, very different π
Yay you’re back! Sometiems you just need a day to yourself! I had a horrible headache yesterday and my boyfriend convinced me to take part of the evenign off and I spent 2 hours in a row reading, pure bliss, now only if I hand’t had that stupid headache it would’ve been perfect. I should take time for myself more often. I love minecraft, I migth have to make some time next week to play that for a while. I always have so much fun with that game!
Sometimes getting really angry really helps to finally get your message across. I am sorry to hear about the buss issues, but I am happy Ryan now has a ncie bus driver that at leats speaks english. I once had a dentist that didn’t speak dutch or english very well and it was pretty annoying, we eventually switched to another dentist as I want to be able to understand what’s going on, dentists freak me out enough already as it is.
I hope you’ll have a great week!
They updated Minecraft on the iPad so now it’s like a totally different game and I’m obsessed. It’s fun and gives me time to think while I’m farming and mining lol
This happens to me every year and with Ryan’s issues I need to be able to communicate with the person or people. I needed to do what’s best for him and I’m glad they agreed.
