News at Home: 2nd Trimester Woes
Ooops I forgot to do my Sunday Post! My brain is so disconnected! I used to think Pregnancy Brain was just a joke – that I was fine with but didn’t take seriously. Now, I believe it 100%. And pregnancy brain is not the worst of my 2nd trimester woes.
“They” say that the 2nd trimester is when you start feeling energetic and overall better. Well, I’ve felt ill. Every day I wake up feeling nauseous… when that rarely happened in the first trimester! I’m just hoping it will slack off soon! I’ve got a busy few weeks ahead of me and I can’t afford to be sick and sluggish.
I had my 16 week appointment on Monday and Dante is doing well. Still has a heartbeat at about 160, which is high for a boy (from what I’ve read). Guess he’s going to be high energy/high stung (like his mom/dad). He comes by it honestly. I, however, have gained too much weight. I knew it and I hate it, but I’m trying really hard not to over focus on it. I’ll keep doing my best to eat right and work out, but I’m trying to find a way to stop obsessing and hating myself over it.
My step-son’s mom messaged me this week and said she wants to throw me a baby shower! <3 I’m super excited as I wasn’t really sure who would have the space to throw one and we really need one. And it’s just one more way that our relationship stays solid when so many step-parent relationships are filled with problems. It’s such a nice gesture and she said that they’re so excited for us and want to help and support us with Dante however they can. So yay!
And this was our big birthday weekend! Franky (my step-son) and Zach (my brother’s boyfriend) both had their birthday’s on Saturday. I didn’t get to see Franky because they spent his birthday at Six Flags – not exactly a pregnant friendly activity. He turned 19! Can’t believe it, he’s almost 20 years old!! And then Zach turned 25 – gah, so young! – and my brother threw him a surprise party. I spent a good bulk of the afternoon helping my brother pull of the party – picking up liquor, checking into the suite at the hotel where he had the party, dropping him off, picking up a few odds and ends at the grocery store, picking up cake and Chik-Fil-A platter, and then getting back to the hotel to let people in so we could be ready for the surprise. It was a nice party and a good time. I didn’t get home until almost midnight though and was exhausted this morning. Took me a while to get really moving.
This week is super busy, but I spent this afternoon cleaning and prepping for the week, so I’m hoping it will be a good one.
I didn’t get to do any visiting mid-week, but I’m going to try and do a few quick visits tonight… I may have to settle for catching up next week, sorry!
