News at Home

Sunday

Today was about getting ready for the week – lots of running around, getting groceries, doing laundry, etc. We also had our Psy-Changling chat which was, as always, a lot of fun. I also finally planted my jalepano plant. I think that’s everything for the season – the garden is sprouting really nicely.

Monday

Today was super busy! My new morning routine – with gym, getting ready, and getting Dante ready so we’re ready to leave (practice for now) by 7:55 a.m. is working fairly well. Today we were ready at 7:59 am. which isn’t bad. I just have to be ready by 7:55 if Kiko is going to help us leave because he has to be at the office for work by 8 a.m. (we live in the apartments where he works), but days I’m running late I could always have him just drop things in the car and still be on time to work if I don’t leave here before 8 a.m. T

Anyway, busy day at work. We have a survey on Thursday and Friday so I was really busy getting things ready for that. And I suspect I will be just as busy tomorrow with everything. I did talk to my nutritionist today, though, and I think we have a good game plan for me moving forward. It involves my old hobbies of knitting, coloring, and bujo… distractions from eating while Kiko and I watch TV before bed to stop the mindless snacking.

Tuesday

Today was a beating. I worked a good 2 hours longer than normal getting ready for this survey we have on Thursday and Friday. And it’s just so frustrating because left hand doesn’t know what right hand is doing and we’re trying to help them get ready, so we’re stuck in the middle. And then there was an Excel problem I got stuck on. And yeah, just a long day. I didn’t get to go on my after work walk, but I went to the gym this morning so I guess that’s good enough. Dante was also fussy – resisted nap badly! – and just wanted a lot of attention. But I’m happy to give it… less than 2 weeks before he’s at daycare 🙁

Wednesday

Today I started adjusting Dante’s schedule for daycare. I found out what his schedule will be yesterday and it’s very different from what we’ve been doing. They eat lunch at 11:15 – he’s used to having a snack around 11 and then lunch at 1. They nap from 12 – 2:30, he’s used to napping from 2:30/3 – 5/5:30. And he’s used to having a snack after nap… which they do too, but we’re talking 3:30 vs 5:30. So lots to adjust. Decided to change everything a little at time – in 15 minute increments. So today breakfast was at 8:45 instead of 9. Swapped morning snack and lunch, and took nap at 2:45. So far, it’s going well — hopefully these small increments will make it so he doesn’t feel the change and it will be one less thing he struggles with when he goes back to daycare.

Thursday

I had to go in to work today for a survey. Left at 6:15 am and got home around 6:15 pm – so long day. And it’s very busy, with few breaks. Thankfully Kiko was able to take off for this survey and there’s not any of the childcare jigsaw puzzles to do to make it work. And Kiko claims he continued with the gradual schedule change and that Dante did well.

Friday

Final day of the survey today and it was busy! But I got out about 2 hours early than I expected! I left the house at 6:45 (later start, yay!) and got home about 5:45. Still an 11 hour day, but better than the 12 hours from yesterday and since I had expected I wouldn’t be home until close to 7pm, even better We had a final meeting at 6pm, but the surveyors were in a closed session from 4:30 – 6 and when they didn’t need anything from us by 5pm, my boss said we could go home and join the final session from home. It was so good to get home to my boys and Dante seems to still be doing really well with the schedule adjustments.

Saturday

Yesterday Kiko and I realized that today was our 16th Anniversary. We knew all month that it was coming and then all of a sudden it was here. So I called my brother last night to see if he might be able to watch Dante. Apparently I had mentioned to him a couple weeks ago that we might want to do something, so he’d kept himself available. Bless Uncle Phil! We went to a new-to-us place that has a really beautiful patio. The food was yummy and the drinks were nice. I have enough leftovers for Kiko and I to have dinner again tomorrow (and maybe another lunch for Kiko on Monday). It was a nice time and hard to believe we’re celebrating 16 years already!

My big goal for 2021 is to get down to my goal weight. It means losing 70 pounds this year.

I did good with the gym Monday – Wednesday this week. But going to work such long hours kept me from the gym. And they feed us, which is nice, but not so healthy. Overall, not my best week.

Weight gain/loss: +4.4 pounds for the year

Added to My Shelf

I’m trying to be more responsible about keeping track of the books I acquire, so I’m going to start sharing them again. If I share them here, surely I’ll remember to add them to Goodreads, right?

How was your week? What are you Reading?

  1. You’re so smart the way you practiced with Dante and the new schedule. Glad it went fairly smooth and the survey is done. Congrats on the 16th and yay for a fun date night. Cheering you on with your fitness goals. Nicely done reading books you got for free.
