Since it’s the Summer I thought I would tell you a few fun facts about my summers.

  • I hate the summer, I am not a fan of the heat and I prefer cooler weather. My house needs to be freezing or I am one unhappy girl.
  • I do however love to swim (weird I know) but it must be in a pool. We have a town pool at my parents summer house that we love to go to the water is freezing but it’s very refreshing when its hot.
  • I don’t like the beach, NOT AT ALL! I hate the sand and how it sticks to everything. I also hate that it gets into places it should never be in.
  • I have been going to the Jersey Shore every weekend since I was little. My grandparents had a house when I was young and we would stay there all the time and then my parents got a house.
  • My dad built our summer house and it’s bigger than our regular house. It’s gorgeous and I love going there. It’s so quiet and right on the water, plus my kids enjoy going because it’s on a dead end and it’s like a little spot to ride bikes and play.
  • Every summer we use to take a trip to the Bronx Zoo but it’s so hot and the Bronx Zoo is build on what I can only imagine is a mountain because the amount of walking you have to do, up hill, you are luck if you don’t die.
  • I am a huge fan of water slides, I panic a bit in the enclosed ones but I do love them. I have corrupted my children into loving them as well.
  • My husband hates swimming but this isn’t really about him now is it and he’s a doofus for not liking it anyway.
  • I taught my kids how to swim, I am pretty sure my mom taught me by throwing me in a pool and hoping for the best, so I pretty much did the same thing and they are now swimmers…well sort of, it looks like they are drowning but they are not.
  • When I was little we had a small pool in our backyard. One day we thought it would be a good idea to make a whirlpool, the pool collapsed, sending me down the yard to Misses Burgermeanies House thank goodness for the gate….it was a fun ride.

Summers have always been fun for me as a kid and even as an adult I try to do a lot more stuff with the kids outside of the house. The heat is a problem but no one wants to relocate to Alaska so I just have to deal with it.

  1. What a fun post! I love summer and hot temperatures until about mid summer when it just gets to be too much! It sounds like you definitely know how to enjoy a summer! I’m also glad I’m not the only person not completely in love with the beach.

  2. In my arms, fellow summer hater ! I felt weird and estranged before I read you, but I can’t stand the heat either. And I don’t like beaches in summer because there’s just too many people around, I hate crowds too. I’m happy your children survived your treatment, lol, looks like it worked for them. Those were really fun facts, thanks for sharing, Michelle πŸ™‚

    • *HUGS* I am a real Fall/Winter lover, I love when it’s cold outside and it gets dark early. It’s just so cozy and I tend to get a lot more done in the winter. Summer is ok for like going on vacation but after that I prefer the cold weather. I have my fingers crossed this year for snow πŸ™‚

  3. *shakes head* Michelle! Summer is nice!! Not when it’s too hot, with that I completely agree, but when we can be outside in just a shorts and t-shirt, barefoot, sipping an ice-cold beer to cool down a little bit, I’m in heaven! That being said, I’m actually an equal opportunities person when it comes to seasons, I love all four πŸ™‚ Even in spring when my allergies are killing me. Just seeing nature come back to life in every way is always spectacular!
Thanks for sharing some personal thoughts about yourself πŸ™‚

    • I can’t do it, You are like my kids and husband. My sister loves the summer also. I am just the black sheep, I like the opposite of everyone else πŸ™‚

Spring is awful, my allergies are so bad and my sinuses need to be looked at since they are killer in the spring. I think I like summer for like a month and then I am done.

  4. I don’t hate summer, but I prefer spring and fall..I HATE winter. πŸ™‚ Your pull story there at the end about the whirlpool..something like that happened when I was younger..we were making a whirlpool and the pool collapsed but the water grabbed a hold of my little cousin and took him for a ride (he was like 3 or somewhere around that age..lol) as soon as he got a chance he took off running with the water chasing him..it was so funny. πŸ™‚

  5. Great post, Michelle. It IS nice to learn more about our blogging friends. πŸ™‚ I have to say I think it’s hilarious that you grew up going ‘down the shore’ but you hate beaches! I understand what you’re saying but I love the beach. I grew up going down to the Texas Gulf coast and I miss beaches. I *did* get to visit one this summer though. πŸ™‚ I, too, love water slides…and pools…and so do my kids! And I can’t take the heat either – so it’s a good thing I live in the mountains where it’s never too hot. I don’t even have A/C. So maybe you need a summer house in the mountains somewhere that’s a quick drive down to a pool for playing?!?

  6. This is funny! I have a love/ hate thing with going to the beach- I love being by the water but I get bored just frying in the sun after a while. And of course the car is full of sand by the end of the day LOL.

Your summer house sounds nice. And yes to water slides. πŸ™‚

That last one- too funny! Sounds like a fun childhood memory… πŸ™‚
