Blogging News and Bookish News:
Not sure if you noticed but I went on a hiatus, I am sort of still on it but plan to take things a little slower so I don’t get overwhelmed again. I have OCD and Anxiety and it really stinks, when I get overwhelmed it causes self doubt and depression. The only way for me to handle it, is to just stop everything and let the obsession pass then I can slowly restart again at a better pace and find my balance. I am still working on the balance but at the moment I am feeling better. Plus I can’t stop blogging, I found a better pace for doing it and I am happy about it but I am still taking it very slow.
I plan to do most of my blogging on Friday and Saturday. Which means if I don’t get all my posts done. OH WELL! I just wait until the next weekend. So far it has been working and I enjoyed this last Friday writing a review and also setting up this post, my TBR List Post and started my Task it Tuesday Post. The Binge Watchers will return not this week but next week. I’m still working on getting back to watching something new. At the moment, i’m still binge watching Hawaii Five-0 and the Twilight Zone.
I should be back in full blogging mode by May 19th (which is when the sign up post for COYER goes LIVE) but for now I will be around and have some posts. I knew I would have this little set back at some point, I think every blogger goes through something whether it’s big or small. After 5 years I am glad it wasn’t something longer but I am glad Berls and I teamed up when we did because I couldn’t get through this hiatus without her on the blog. 🙂

Off the Blog Updates:
- My daughter had to back out of softball this year due to something being wrong with her foot. We are going to have a foot doctor take a look at it and hopefully it will be an easy fix.
- My son fractured his finger on Friday. He slammed it in the door trying to get to the Ice Cream Truck. Sadly he missed the Ice Cream Truck.
- The Kittens are doing very good. Still a little skittish around us but fitting in just nicely. They have only been here two months and I feel like it has been forever. They are a lot of fun to have at the house. You can keep up with them on instagram @TheParsonsPets
- I’ve been very busy at work and pretty much have taken home work every weekend. I think we are starting to slow down but I am not sure if that is really a good thing or not. I sort of like us busy.
- My external hard drive is DEAD! I lost a years worth of Client Jobs, Logos and other small things. I usually back up my back ups but just didn’t for some reason. Never thought it would happen. Lesson learned but it was a very hard lesson. It is what it is and I need to move on from it, I can always make some of the stuff over again or better. It just hurts.
- Design work has been going great, I recently finished series covers and going to start on the full wraps of them. I also have another cover image that was purchased and the author wants that as a series too. I am very excited. Still need help sharing my group so if you are interested in helping message me on Facebook if we are friends (if we are not, how come? Will only accept those I recognize, so spammer people, don’t even try it) or twitter and I will tell you how to help. (ps I have a pinned post on Twitter you are welcome to retweet)
- Tonight is a WWE PPV, I used to be excited about watching them but now I prefer NXT which is the minor league version of the main rooster but 100 times better. We will still watch the PPV but I will probably read at the same time! 😀
So tell me what have you been reading and up to this week?
Hope you all have a fantastic week!!!
Happy Reading
ox
Glad to hear you’re back. Sorry to hear about your anxiety and OCD, but if taking a break from it all works so you can start at a better place again then that seems like a good solution. It does sound like it worked out well to have Berls as a co-blogger now, so you still have posts going live while you were on hiatus.
I am looking forward to the next Coyer! I actually had a dream tonight were I saw a space ship called Coyer.
Great haul this week! I saw the collectors on Edelweiss and was tempted to request it, but I am trying to request less books so I can get to the books I buy as well. And it didn’t have as much reviews yet, so hard to decide whether it’s a book for me.
I am glad to hear the kittens are doing well. Sorry to hear about your daughter’s foot and that your son hurt his finger. That’s devastating you couldn’t get the stuff back from your hard drive :(. I am so happy to hear your design work is going well!
I’m glad you’re working at slowing down and finding a balance, Michelle. I think you’re right in that all bloggers do go through something like this…I think I’ve been going through it for about a year now. *sigh* Sometimes I think I’d like to take a hiatus but I just can’t seem to make myself do it…even if I do take hiatuses from commenting. Anyway, good luck with the balancing…I may take hints from you. 😉 I hope your daughter’s foot is okay and your son’s finger mends quickly! That’s awful. Happy the kittens are doing so well, too.
It’s almost the weekend!! Miss you! {{{big hugs}}}
Glad you took the time for yourself and you’re taking it slow. I’m very type A and struggle with not getting everything “finished” though of course in blogging there really is no such thing. You’ve had quite a week with the kids! Hopefully your daughter’s foot will be an easy fix though even if it isn’t they heal so much faster than we do! And sorry about your hard drive. Honestly it never would have occurred to me to backup the backup. Hope you have a great week!
Sorry that you’ve been having a rough time lately, but knowing how to take care of yourself is half the battle, so I’m glad that you’ve figured out when you need to take a break. Glad your business is going well (but the hard drive thing is so sad—hindsight is always 20/20, right?)
I am working on it one day at a time. OCD can be a pain and I let it get the better of me.
I try so hard not to think about my hard drive. The family wont even mention it because I cry lol
I think all of us need to take a hiatus at some point or other. Life happens, and very few of us are making any income from our blogs. Mostly we just do it for fun. I worked really hard at keeping a frequent schedule for a while. Lately I’ve been too busy and too stressed, and a lot has slipped. You can only handle so much at a time, and your health and emotional well-being are more important. So don’t feel bad; you are putting your personal needs first and that is healthy.
I was sorry to hear about the kids’ bumps and bruises. No fun! I hope both are feeling better soon. R’s finger looked pretty painful.
Have a good week and take some “me” time–you deserve it!
I let to much overwhelm me and my OCD wouldn’t let me stop. I am feeling a bit better and totally getting a better feel of how things should be.
Thank you, they will be better soon. My poor kids are falling apart. lol
Welcome back. I hope you feel better soon! Remember that blogging is a hobby, and you don’t need to stress about it. We’ll always be here. Have a great week!
Thanks AJ. I just let my OCD get the better of me. I feel like I will be back to normal soon!
Hey Michelle hope you’re having a good weekend! I think breaks are great for recharging or like you said just stepping back and getting things right. Good luck with everything and yay for the new Lauren Oliver! And Starry eyes looks great, I’ve seen some fantastic reviews.
Sorry to hear about your son- oww! Glad the kittens are doing well!
Recharging is great and I started watching Riverdale again and OMG I am almost done and hat that I have to wait until the next season to come out on Netflix! 🙂
I still need to read Replica. I don’t know what is taking me so long.
Thank you! : )
Welcome back. I think its wonderful that you found a schedule that works for you without stressing you out. Blogging is supposed to be fun but sure can get overwhelming if you let it. Sorry to hear about your son’s and your daughter’s injuries. I hope they have a speedy recovery. And I bet those kitties are adorable:) Enjoy those fabulous new reads!
Thanks Laura! I am doing good. I think we sometimes forget that its fun.
Everyone needs a blogging break at some point. I’m glad you and Berls teamed up!
I retweeted your tweet. I love the logo you did for me, not to mention I’m still in love with my blog stuff. I have no desire to change anything yet. 😀
I hope this week is much better, meaning no more injuries. Eek! And don’t forget, Community Day is on the 19th! Woot! XOXO
I think I was doing to much at one time. I am actually feeling pretty good. Not Obsessing over anything and just taking it one day at a time.
Thanks for retweeting!!!
One more injury and now we are done! I can’t wait for Community Day!
I have OCD and anxiety as well so I know exactly what you mean. It can be totally debilitating sometimes. Glad you are able to find a way to make blogging work! Hope your daughter’s foot and your son’s finger are okay! Sounds like they had a rough week.
Have a great week!
Thank you Samantha! It really throws me. I found out recently what it really was. My son has it also.
My son is more upset that he can’t play gym but it’s only for a week. My daughter I’m hoping will be fixed up quick. Hate see them both in pain.
Glad your back and found a good pace for blogging that works for you. I am so excited that you sold a cover that the author wants a series that is awesome!!!!! You got some great books, I thought about getting Sawkill Girls but I didn’t so I hope you like it! I got way to many this week anyway…lol.
Yes you did and I should have looked at the page numbers for Sawgirl. I wasn’t sold on it but figured why not but with over 400 pages, I am hoping it’s worth it and not completely drawn out.
I am excited about the covers. Hoping to sell more but it’s going at a snails pace. However I haven’t had time to really do a lot so I am hoping I will get back into cover making in a few weeks.
Sending big hugs, Michelle. Sounds like you’ve been having to deal with a lot lately. I am sorry about your son’s finger and your daughter’s foot! I am glad the kittens are settling in well. They are fun, aren’t they? What a nightmare with your hard drive! Backing things up is so important, isn’t it? I learned the hard way when my computer was stolen a few years ago. I hope you have a great week, Michelle!
My son was sad not to be able to play gym for a week but i would prefer he takes it easy. His finger is a fun shade of purple.
I am hoping to find out more tomorrow for my daughter. She is so tired of limping.
They are so much fun, I can’t get enough of how cute they are.
Backing up is VERY important. I am so mad at myself for letting it slide like that. Makes me so sad all that work is lost.
Awe, your poor kiddos. I hope their injuries heal fast. Hope next week is a great one for you.
Thanks Jenea
Hey, I just noticed you have both Ashley’s Comment Love and Comment luv enabled.
I was scared to take off the other so I left it on. It doesn’t really work, I don’t think and most people don’t realized that have to click here to get their posts to show up but it’s ok, I noticed a lot of other people have the same issue with comments and the post showing up. (hope that made sense) I’ll fix it all one day.
Enjoy your break. You’ve had a rough couple of weeks so unplugging and recharging is probably a good thing!
Thanks Kim 🙂
I’m glad you are back after your break. I’m sorry to hear about your daughter’s foot troubles and your son’s fractured finger, but this is the time of year things get bunged up and the ER sees a lot of us.
Enjoy all those new lovely reads!
Thanks Deb. Now that they are outside all day on the weekends and after school. We are getting more bumps and bruises than normal. 🙂
