The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kim @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

News at Home

This week’s update is very different, in that I didn’t get a chance to write anything until Friday. So no daily updates this week. Instead, a quick recap… Monday I had to go to work in the afternoon. We had 3 surveys this week at the hospital and I had to be there to coordinate them. My brother thankfully was able to watch Dante and it went really well. So well, in fact, that he’s agreed that he can come watch Dante on the 1 day a week that I have to go in for work. It’s such a relief, there’s really no one I could want to watch Dante more (than me or Kiko, obviously). The days will fluctuate, based on his work schedule, since he will have to work while watching him. And I had a talk with my boss about the fact that Phil is an epileptic and sometimes wakes up in the morning having minor seizures. He won’t know ahead of time and he can’t watch Dante like that. He’d need to stay in bed to avoid a full fledged Grand Mal seizure. She fully understands, so that’s one hurdle crossed.

Tuesday & Wednesday Kiko stayed home to watch Dante while I went to work. I worked LONG days, starting before 7 a.m. and finishing after 5 p.m. without any real break. But our surveys were successful, so win. While I was there, I moved all my stuff to my new office space. It’s not much bigger than what I had before, but it’s at least behind a closed/locked door. I will be sharing it with one other person for now, but there’s cubes for 4 of us in there.

I missed Dante SO MUCH Monday – Wednesday. It made me think back to 1 year ago where I needed my break and daycare was my savior. I think both Dante and I have grown so much this year and now I dread being away from him for long. In some ways, it’s good that my company is requiring us to come in 1 time per week – it will gradually get me accustomed to being away from him, even if the childcare situation has been very difficult.

Thursday & Friday I was back home and I was still exhausted. I didn’t wake up early to work out either day and was really unmotivated. I was also super busy taking care of some projects Thursday and then Friday getting everything ready to onboard my replacement, who starts Monday. Then I had a quick chat with a friend, did some blogging, and relaxed for the afternoon, very ready for the weekend.

Saturday we relaxed in the morning. I ran to the bank for our rent money order and started some laundry. Then Franky called around 12 and asked if we could come over – everyone had recent negative COVID tests and wanted to get together. So we quickly packed Dante’s things because Kiko had a 1pm appointment for his second tattoo removal treatment and it’s on the way to their place (which is about 1 hour away). We went to their place next, had some yummy food, played some pool, and since they’re in the far out country they popped some fireworks (I’m not a fan but fun for them). We left a little before 10:30 and Dante was asleep within minutes of us leaving. Hoping he’ll sleep in tomorrow *fingers crossed* and I’m headed to bed just before midnight (got home around 11:30 and had to put away Dante’s things before getting to bed).

I’m keeping a scorecard to track my fitness goals. It’s something my nutritionist suggested to help me move past my perfectionism. My current goal is to get to 60 points a week – something I can do without doing perfect every day.

My big goal for 2021 is to get down to my goal weight. It means losing 70 pounds this year. So far I’m doing a shit job, to be frank. I’ve spent January gaining and losing the same 5 – 10 pounds.

Instead of doing a screenshot of the scorecard, trying something different. Here’s the goals and the number of points I earned for each goal during the week.

  1. Was I in a positive mindset today? (1pt – mostly, 2pts – yes) = 13
  2. Was I well hydrated? (1 pt – mostly, 2 pts – yes) = 5
  3. Did I do my morning routine? (1pt – mostly, 2pts – yes) = 5
  4. Did I exercise today? (1 pt – workout, 2pts – workout + walk/dance break) = 4
  5. Did I have a healthy breakfast? (1 pt- yes) = 7
  6. Did I have a healthy lunch (1 pt – yes) = 6
  7. Did I have healthy snacks/beverages? (1 pt – yes) = 3
  8. Did I have a healthy dinner? (1 pt -yes) = 5
  9. Did I turn off the TV by 9:30 pm? (1 pt – yes) = 7
  10. Did I have a healthy night time routine? (1 pt  – mostly, 2 pts – yes) = 7

Total points for the week: 62 (made it, barely)

Weight gain/loss: +/- 0 pounds as of this week.

Added to My Shelf

I’m trying to be more responsible about keeping track of the books I acquire, so I’m going to start sharing them again. If I share them here, surely I’ll remember to add them to Goodreads, right?

How was your week? What are you Reading?

  1. Sounds like a busy but nice week! I’m so glad that your brother can help look after Dante while you’re in the office… Juggling childcare with employment is so difficult. I’m looking forward to my kiddo hitting his teens (still a few years out) and the flexibility that comes with that! Although, I’m not looking forward to all the other changes that it’ll bring, lol.
Fingers crossed you have another good week this week. 🙂

  2. Busy, but glad you have child care and work sorted. Big relief. Neat that you got to go for a visit and have a relaxing weekend. Hopefully, you’ll be back on your fitness routine and form other good routines now that all that is sorted. Nice pile of books read.

    Have a good week, Berls!

  3. So glad Philip can watch Dante. That is a good plan for now. It is so hard to find people you can trust to watch them. I am always thankful my mom did it , I am hoping I can do the same of my kids if they have children.
The rest of your week has been super busy, we need a chat day, maybe a facetime chat with wine 🙂
I’ll see ya later at book club

Have a great week, Berls! Happy Reading! xx
