Week in READview:

Real life:

The IEP meeting for my son went very well, he will stay where he is with a few adjustments but they will be working on his social skills, self destruction (not like blowing up 😉 just him anticipating the worst) and his understanding of social cues. We just need to monitor him and try to catch him before he has a meltdown otherwise you have to wait that out. He has come a very long way and is doing amazing, I am so proud of him.

At some point in November, I got myself a plum paper planner, I loved it, the only issue I thought I had was in the weekly pages Saturday and Sunday were in a box together. Well that bothered me more than I thought, I also found the extra pages I added to be more of a distraction. So last Friday I bought a new one, I again went to plum paper and purchased a new one that will work better for me. Waste of money? maybe but totally worth it. This will work out so much better and has a separate Sat and Sun on the weekly pages and also has a budget page, blog planning page and bill tracking page. Plus I added lined paper. I am so in love with this one. I am very particular when it comes to stuff so if it’s something I just don’t like I wont use it. I am very happy I decided to get a new one. I also love the colors of the cover, so pretty! <3 <3 <3

Blogging & Reading:

So let me tell you the news, Berls and I have decided to close up Because Challenges website and move all the challenges to this blog instead. So all our updates, sign ups and linking will be done here. Since we both have limited time and since Berls will be popping out a little one, we are having a hard time managing two website. So before the next COYER all info for all our challenges will be moving to Because Reading. You will be able to find EVERYTHING on here. We are happy about the move and to not have to mange two sites anymore. Can’t wait to start the hunt in June! Next COYER Sign up will be LIVE May 3rd!!!

This week the sign up post for Can you read a series in a month? goes live (tomorrow actually) it’s a fun challenge, I am hoping to find another series to finish since I have only accomplished that once. I will have a goal post for that one soon.

I am two weeks from going to Florida (I leave April 19th) so I am rather excited and have a post to tell you what books I will be bringing with me and I hope will be able to read. I will have two more Sunday Posts and then I will be MIA. I will be back May 5th to tell you all about it.

  1. Oh I”m so glad that the IEP meeting went well! Sounds like there were some very constructive discussions. Enjoy Florida! We’re going to Disney in October and this Sunday is the day to make the dining reservations! I’m so excited I can barely stand it! We’re also talking about just going to the beach during the summer but really I love anything Florida. Hope you’re having a great week!

  2. Florida..my favorite place. My hubby got offered another job there, but we just cannot make ourselves leave the grandkids yet. At least until they are in school and can then spend a few weeks with us in the summer. My heart clutches for you when you talk about your son and meltdowns. As a parent of a child who grew up on the spectrum every day is a challenge.

  3. Your planner is lovely! Sometimes I prefer a paper planner or bullet journal, but then months go by and I don’t use it. I’m so inconsistent!

You are an awesome mom, fighting for what your children need so they can do, be, and become their best. And just through the blog, I’ve seen your son come a long way in dealing with his challenges. You and he should be proud!

  4. Sounds like things will go better for your son. I know what you mean about needed a planner to organized a specific way or it won’t work. I think that was a good move to consolidate the sites. I already entered an update in the anthology challenge and it worked great. Looking forward to upcoming events.
Hopefully, prep will go smoothly for your trip.
    Have a great week, Michelle!

  5. I love that planner! I do less on paper than I used to do but it is so, so pretty! They customize it for you?

She got 6 weeks because you said gone from April 19-29 and no post until June 6. Did you mean May?

Is series in a month for April or May? I think it’s great everything will be here; it just makes sense as it is easier for you.

I’m glad the meeting for your son went well. It’s a constant thing being a parent. Have a great week! Happy reading!

  6. Way to go, Ryan! Woot woot!

Wait, wut? You’re going to be gone 6 weeks?! *hyperventilates* How am I going to survive?! That is not acceptable. *crosses arms across chest, sticks out lower lip* Nope. Not happening. And that’s final. *plops down on ground*

  7. That’s great your son’s IEP meeting went well! Your new planner looks great. It’s hard to know in advance how much something bothers you until you’re actually using it, sounds like a good decision to buy a new one that days have separate pages for Saturday and Sunday.

I think combining your two sites in one sounds like a good idea, it sounds handy to have everything on one site.

That’s awesome you didn’t get any new books, I need a week like that as I bought way too many books in the past few weeks. I like that sneak peek/ sneak peak comic! Have a great week!

    • I was happy about the IEP, I can rest easy until next year.
The planner just wasn’t what I wanted and i think I went overboard. This one is so much better.
Having everything on Because Reading will just make it easier especially for me when she goes on leave. I can just worry about everything here, I have a hard time using blogger.

I try very hard not to get ARCs anymore, I just prefer to get the book when they are released.

  8. I hate IEP’s! It alway feels like I’m going in to battle! and having to fight to get my daughter what she needs, My daughters IEP was in January, and we are continuing it this week! My husband and I have been dealing with meltdowns all week. It is exhausting! I read a series this week! My husband was on vacation and I had a lot more time for reading this week 🙂 I’d love to participate in your challenge 🙂

    • They do make you feel like you are going into battle. I have battled with them for about 8 years. My son is in a good school but I am always fearful they will take him out and send him back to gen-ed. Sorry about the meltdowns they can be very draining.
The challenge is so much fun and it always helps me get to those series I always wanted to get too.

      • That’s the thing, my digital planner is pen and paper 😀 it’s an e-ink tablet… I write in it with a stylus like normal paper, and it doesn’t glow or anything. Except it’s paper that weighs almost nothing and I don’t need to lug around three separate notebooks. Or thirteen. So I have not been able to switch back! It also converts my handwriting to text whenever I need it. So you could say I’m old fashioned in a new fashioned way 😀
