With a heavy heart ~ WIR & TSP

Posted May 8, 2016 by Michelle in The Sunday Post, WIReadview / 21 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog & Real Life:

This was not my favorite week. It started with the washer breaking but that wasn’t what completely ruined this week. On Tuesday we noticed Gumball wasn’t looking very good and I feared he had wet tail, after taking him to the emergency vet we found out that he might have wet tail, it was a 50/50 chance. Wet tail is a intestinal disease that young hamster can get, mostly from the pet shop or other hamsters. It’s contagious and once a hamster gets it the survival rate is very low. I was very worried and hoping for the best. The treatment they gave us would help with either him having a bad tummy ache or wet tail, only difference is the outcome. With a heavy heart I am sad to say that Gumball passed away on May 5th. We tried our best and did everything we could to make him better but I guess god had other plans for him. He is at peace now and no longer suffering, he will be greatly missed. Ryan is very sad and was informed that he is allowed to get another one when he is ready. At some point I realize that maybe Ryan was handling it a lot better than me. Β I think we will wait until we get back from Chicago. Julia’s Biscuit we will keep an eye on since we are hoping we didn’t contaminate her cage by playing with him and her, however, since he was rarely out it’s a slim chance but not one I plan to risk. So we will keep close watch and after a week or so if she shows no signs of illness than she didn’t catch it (as of right now she seems totally fine). It’s been a crazy week with the washer, hamster, rain and us leaving for Chicago this Wednesday coming up. I am really looking forward to the break and really just need to get away.

I will be off the blog until next Sunday and this week is very light on post since I wont really be able to comment back. I apologize for those that commented and I have commented back however hopefully before this post goes live I will have commented to most, if not all of you. Sorry for it taking so long. So far this is turning out to be my least favorite year.

I did a spotlight blogger interview with Daniela Ark, you can check it out HERE.

  1. So sorry about Gumball. It’s hard to face at any age. I hope Ryan chooses to let another little hamster be his one day.

  2. So sorry about Gumball. Losing a pet is devastating but at least he isn’t in any pain anymore.
I’d never heard of Wet Tail in hamsters. I know that dogs get wet tail (mine had it) but for them its just a sprained tail usually from getting it wet.
    Take care.

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about Gumball (and your washer too.) I hope Biscuit will stay healthy. And I hope you have a fantastic time at BEA! It always sounds like so much fun. Maybe some year I will go.

Your new books look wonderful, especially the next two Jackaby books. I really need to read the first one; it’s on my Kindle from a sale, but I haven’t gotten to it yet.

Have a wonderful week, take care of yourself, and hugs and comfort to you!

    • She is doing pretty good so I think we are in the clear with her. If she had it she would have shown signs by now and she was a lot healthier I believe, plus she is growing, Gumball was still very small and wasn’t growing at all.
I am looking forward to going to BEA, It will be fun.
You must read Jackaby it was a really good book! I didn’t read it when I got it right away but after I read it I realized I wished I read it sooner πŸ™‚

  4. I am so sorry to hear this was such a bad week for you *hugs*. I am so sorry to hear about poor Gumball and I hope Biscuit hasn’t caught the disease, but I am glad to hear she’s doing well so far. And that’s nasty your washer broke down as well. I hope the break will do you good!

I’ll check out the interview later this week. I really like Daniela her interviews and am so excited to see what she asked you. She also interviewed me, not sure when it will be live though.

It does look like you had a good week for new books. I hope you’ll enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    • Thank you Lola! Biscuit seems really good and last night was out and about trying to make her great escape, not going to happen. She seems a lot healthier than Gumball and has been gotten a lot bigger.
The washer is now fixed thank goodness and thank goodness for my mom who took all my laundry to wash for us so I wont be in my underpants at BEA.

The interview was a lot of fun, I didn’t realize she already interviewed you since I was looking forward to having her do one with you, so I am glad she is.

I did go a little crazy this week but I was in a genre change mood and I couldn’t wait any longer for The Score to go on sale πŸ™‚

  5. I’m sorry to hear about Gumball, but it sounds as if Biscuit may be ok. I hope Ryan decides to get another hamster. I know they don’t live all that long, but they’re very interesting and fun to have.

Have fun at BEA (and in Chicago in general) and remember I’ll be sitting here pouting because I can’t go. πŸ˜€ Safe travels!

    • They leave for about 2 to 3 years and yes they are a lot of fun and so cute. Julia’s is adorable and very nosey, I love her. Don’t pout, I will posts lots of pictures so you feel like you are with us. I hope to meet you one day…however, not in a creepy over the Internet stranger type of way πŸ™‚

  6. I’m so sorry to hear about Gumball, Michelle. It’s always hard to lose a pet…they become such integral parts of our families. I’m glad you have Chicago to look forward to – a chance to get away from your worries for a little bit. I can’t wait to see you and you’ll have to forgive me when I greet you with a big ol’ hug! Not much longer now!!!! Until then, {{{hugs}}}

    • I just felt so bad for Ryan and I was really hoping we could help the poor little guy, broke my hear that he died.
I am really looking forward to see you all. We are going to have so much fun. I am totally looking forward to be big ol’ hug from you πŸ™‚ Also, like I said, pardon if I stare πŸ™‚ it’s going to be so weird to see you all in real life lol. (((Hugs)))
