We Need Diverse Books founder Ellen Oh returns with Spirit Hunters, a high-stakes middle grade mystery series about Harper Raine, the new seventh grader in town who must face down the dangerous ghosts haunting her younger brother. A riveting ghost story and captivating adventure, this tale will have you guessing at every turn!

Harper doesn’t trust her new home from the moment she steps inside, and the rumors are that the Raine family’s new house is haunted. Harper isn’t sure she believes those rumors, until her younger brother, Michael, starts acting strangely. The whole atmosphere gives Harper a sense of déjà vu, but she can’t remember why. She knows that the memories she’s blocking will help make sense of her brother’s behavior and the strange and threatening sensations she feels in this house, but will she be able to put the pieces together in time?

First Impression:

This was such a great creepy kids story, I really enjoyed this book, it was the exact ghost story that I was looking for and I am praying that this becomes a series because I adored Harper.

The Story:

Harper moves into a new house with her parents, brother and sister. Something happened to Harper but she can’t remember. Strange things start happening and Harper needs to figure out what is going on before it is too late.

The Characters:

I adored Harper she was such a great character and fun to read along with. I felt bad for her that she couldn’t remember what had happened. I also really liked her Dad and Grandmother. Once the story started to unravel it was excited to see what really happened to Harper and it didn’t disappoint. I actually am hoping this will become a series only because the idea of it is so fun, I want to read more.

Final Thoughts:

I highly recommend if you are looking for a fun, scary read. This is good for MG kids who don’t scare that easily but it’s also fun for older kids and adults. This was so cute and I plan to read more from this author because I enjoyed her writing.

Really cute ghost story, exactly what I was looking for...So much fun! Click To Tweet

    • It left it open for her to do more hunting. I would love that or maybe a different girl who is a spirit hunter. I enjoyed the idea of it all.
