Christmas is getting closer ~ WIR & TSP

Posted December 4, 2016 by Michelle in The Sunday Post, WIReadview / 26 Comments

WIR&TSPWeek in READ-view is a post I have posted on Sundays telling you what I have been up to this week and what I read or am reading. The Sunday Post is a meme sponsored by the awesome Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Itโ€™s a chance to share news, post a recap of the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

On the Blog, Books & Real Life:

This week was a pretty good week, didn’t get a chance to visit but was able to get some posts done and work on a few design things.

How is your christmas shopping going?ย Santa is almost done with my kids stuff…so I heard. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I still have a few things to get for family members and stocking stuffers which I will do next week. I am trying to get it all done early since I think this year we have more weekends to do stuff than we did last year. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am 13 days smoke free and I am doing pretty good. Friday was my first time home alone part of theย day and it was a bit of a struggle but I got through it with lots of coffee and M&Ms. I have been keeping myself busy with reading and blogging. I am hoping by the end of this month the craving wont be thatย bad. I know it takes about 100+ days for the craving to officially go away (I forgot the exact number) but for some reason at 13 days it seems a lot easier. I think it was harder to stop then it is to stay stopped. (does that make sense?)

I read some interesting books this week. I have to thank Carol (my monster porn enabler) for showing me Ravaged by the Gingerbread Man. It was the most fantastic book that I even made my husband read it. (he hates reading…gasp.. I know!!!) How can you go wrong with lines like “F$&@, f$&@, f$&@! As hard as I can! Iโ€™m gonna pound you, Iโ€™m the gingerbread man!โ€…PURE GOLD, right there! And he tastes like Cinnamon Buns…thank goodness I don’t eat those…

I was in a weird reading mood (obviously) but when I got to Too Late…it killed me…such an intense book with a hard subject. I actually really liked it. The rest of the month will be light since I know I will have a limited time to read with the holidays coming up but I plan to squeeze in at least a few more before the end of the year. Oh, I completed my Goodreads Goal, so Yay!

This week on the blog was basically sign up week…Bookish Resolutions and 2017 Reading Assignment are ready for next year and of course COYER ๐Ÿ™‚ Click on the pictures for all the details and sign up today!

    • Thanks Kim! May I suggest the app My Last Cigarette. It helped me last time and again this time. It really keeps you motivated. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Congrats on 13 days smoke free!! The Gingerbread Man sounds funny and good thing I don’t like Gingerbread since I’d have a hard time keeping a straight face after reading this book lol. I’m trying to get my Christmas shopping done early since I know the weekends will be busy. Congrats are reaching your Goodreads goal! I’m almost there and plan to read a lot of Novellas this month lol. Have a great week!

  2. I’m glad you’ve had some interesting reads this week, but congratulations particularly on the no smoking for 14 (now) days. That’s great.

On the Christmas shopping front I’ve basically done none. I don’t have a lot to buy, but still….

Congrats on 13 days smoke free, that is an amazing feat. I know exactly how hard it can be to achieve that, so kudos.

As far as Christmas, I have to get something for my mother, and one more present for each of my kids. Other than that I’m done. Stocking stuffers are bought. The presents (except those mentioned above) are bought, wrapped, and under the tree. Fudge is made and snickerdoodles are on the too bake list.

    • Thank you! I am feeling really good about it too, I really think I can do this ๐Ÿ™‚

I have to really get the stocking stuffers, the other things are just a gift for my cousins two kids, my nephew and my sister but they are simple things. I need to wrap them soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

I would love to make Fudge, I have never done that before. I love snickerdoodles ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I’ve only bought one thing so far so I am most assuredly NOT almost done lol. But I have time right? Bueller… Bueller…

Glad you had a good week! Yay for smoke free. Coffee and M&M’s are a pretty good combo. and lol about Gingerbread Man… I’ll just leave that alone. ๐Ÿ™‚

The Breakup Support Group looks fun. Have a great week Michelle!

    • Lol you actually have a lot of time, we still have about 3 weeks until the big day but after next week you might want to put a little speed into your getting.

Coffee and M&M’s are a new non-smokers dream. They help a lot. ๐Ÿ™‚
What no comment on the Gingerbread Man LOL

The Breakup Support Group is cute and I love Cheyanne but I am not into Contemp YA anymore so this will be a struggle but it’s cute so far.

  5. Congrats on 13 days! I agree that it is harder to stop than it is to stay stopped. My mother just cannot stop. We’ve tried all kinds of things, and even the alternative e-cigarette. Take it each day at a time. I have taken care of all of the man’s buying for this year. I ordered the last thing today. I think this year we aren’t exchanging until the very end of the month when he returns from Boston since he leaves on Tuesday. I still have to get Baby some little treats and toys.

  6. You know I’m always happy to enable my friends when it comes to monster porn. LOLOLOL I still need to read it, but I plan to this week since I think I might do an additional MPM post this month as a present to my followers. I’m looking for a few additional Christmas-themed ones. ๐Ÿ˜€

The big day is approaching at Ludicrous Speed. I really need to get hopping on my Amazon shopping. I want to be done by the week before. We’ll see how that goes.

I hope you have a fantastic and continued smoke-free week, Michelle!! XOXO

  7. OMG, you and Carol and your monster porn!!!! She is such a bad influence on your reading…lol. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ™‚ And thanks for that image of the gingerbread man, I will never be able to hear that saying again or look at a gingerbread man again without thinking of that!!!!

Glad your Christmas shopping is almost done, mine has just started…lol.

    Happy reading!!!

  8. Yay for 13 days smoke free!!! Thats a wonderful accomplishment! Keep up the amazing work ๐Ÿ™‚
I can’t believe there is a book out there about getting it on with a gingerbread man…this sounds like the stuff serial killers would write (I read a lot of true crime and it always talks about how odd their sexual behavior is). But seriously, there are SO MANY books out now like that. Pounded by the Gay Unicorn is one I saw on another blog post! So strange!
I met my goodreads goal this year too! I set it at 250 but I will finish the year with over 300 for sure. Some of them are super short books though (Alexa Riley!).
Hope you have a great week!

    • Thank you! I am very proud of myself. The chocolate helps a lot.

Some of the ones I have read are so strange but I can’t stop reading them and the stranger the better. I still can’t get into the Dino ones. That just doesn’t work in my head.

I was going for 100 this year but a slump took over my life so I will settle for the 75, I think next year I will try for 80. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I also didn’t get to do a lot of visiting this week and I am sorry I didn’t stop by last Sunday. Glad to hear you got some new design work to work on.

I haven’t done any Christmas shopping yet, but we’re not celebrating it big this year.

You’re doing great with the not smoking! Good luck and I hope you can keep it up. I hope it gets a bit easier every day.

Yay on reaching your goodreads goal! I set mine way too low and reached it halfway through the year, I think I might actually double my goal. It sure looks like you had an interesting reading week! I hope you’ll have a great week!

    • You never have to apologize to me for not visiting, I totally understand, things get busy and we all just don’t have a lot of time to do everything, I get it ๐Ÿ™‚ I haven’t been able to visit either but with the holidays coming up, it wont be a lot until Jan. I have lots to get done.

The kids are my main focus, my husband and I don’t exchange. It’s also going to be a quiet christmas, which I am looking forward to.

It does get easier it just takes time and I hate waiting, lol

I had my goal a little higher but with my slump this year I changed it. I think next year I will do about the same with the 75 and hope I can read more. I’m in a better reading place now.
