News at Home: Date Night!

That’s right, we had a date night! Friday night Tequilla and her husband Jose and Franky (my stepson) came over and babysat for us and we went out. I talked my husband into trying a dine-in theater finally. He has insisted that he would hate it because he hates to hear people eating (he has major auditory sensitivities), but I assured him he wouldn’t be able to hear. So we went to Alamo Drafthouse, had a drink in the bar and then went in for dinner and a movie – Bad Boys for Life. First of all, Bad Boys was a really good movie. I’m really glad, since it would have kinda stunk if our date night was punctuated by a bad movie. And we enjoyed dinner – Kiko didn’t have any trouble with noise and I think I’ll have no trouble getting him to go there again in a few months when we ask for Tequilla to baby sit again. I figure a date night once every 2 months is good, right?

Besides that, the week was largely uneventful. I had off Monday, which was a good thing, because Dante’s daycare was also closed. My mom came over, which was okay – it’s always a little stressful seeing her. In the afternoon I visited my friend who has a 1 year old and 6 year old. Then Dante and I headed to the doctor for his 4 month shots. I hate him getting shots, but he did pretty well and I know it’s for his own good. He did run a small fever for the next 24 hour or so, but daycare allowed him, since they knew it was from shots and they gave him Tylenol. So that was good. Oh and on Friday my brother finally got a job offer! He’s been out of work since November, so it was a big relief for him and it sounds like it’s actually going to be a great job too. I’m thrilled for him.

Tonight (Saturday night) we’re trying Dante sleeping in regular pajamas for the first time. So hopefully when you’re reading this I’ve had my normal good night’s sleep. Fingers crossed!

Have a great week!

Blog News

I didn’t get to blog Monday (no work = no lunch break = no blog time) and then Wednesday and Friday I worked through lunch. And Thursday I had a Zoom appointment with my nutritionist during my lunch break. So I only got on the blog one day this week. Life keeps getting in the way of really blogging the way I would like :/

… and I have an appointment on Monday that’s going to require me working through lunch at least 2.5 days this week. But I’m not giving up! I’ll find a way to keep up.

COYER continues to go great for me! I’ve read 18 books for COYER, 6 of them buddy reads! And I’m 16 books in for the year (6 books ahead of schedule for my Goodreads reading goal).

  1. Sounds like you had a lovely date night. Must be nice to get out with just the two of you for a bit. And that’s awesome the movie and dinner was a success too. Congrats on your brother getting a job offer and I hope it’s a good job. That’s nice you managed to get some reading done this month as well πŸ™‚

Yea!!! for date night! I”m so happy for you and K. That goes a long way to keeping you both sane and connected to one another. Here’s to a good week ahead, even though you have to work through some of the lunches. xo

  3. I’m so glad you are getting in some date nights and that what you wanted to do went well. You are really doing a GREAT job with reading for COYER!

I tried Firefox and it also got the dreaded Not Responding but now it’s out there if I need it later. I cleared it up with some scans and loading some updates.

I hope you have a wonderful week and you continue to have things fall into place. Happy reading!

  4. Yay for date night! And I’m glad the drive in was a success! We haven’t had a date night since December and that was frantic Christmas shopping so I think another one is very much due. It’s such a pain to arrange a babysitter though. Sorry about Dante’s shots. It’s so tough to do when they’re too little to even warn but it will get better. Have a great week!

  5. Ooh your date night sounds fun. Alamo Drafthouse sounds pretty good haha! Congrats to your brother too on the new job!

Yay for COYER! Have a great week!!

  6. It’s great you got out on a date and enjoyed it. I can imagine blogging with an infant and working full-time makes is challenging to blog. Good luck figuring it out, but don’t stress over it.

  7. Ah, that is so fabulous that you got a date night and it went great. I’m glad you’re prioritizing that especially now that Dante is in the picture. Too bad about the extra busy week through your lunch periods, but yay for all that reading you’re getting done. I’m not doing so hot, but not too bad especially on COYER. πŸ™‚
