Week in READview:

It never fails, around this time every year I start getting that awful pain in my ear and wind up with an ear infection or some sort of bacterial infection in my face. Well on Sunday, my ear was hurting and by Monday morning I was in so much pain I took a day off and a trip to the doctors. With everything going on I figured I need to get this taken care of before it turns into something else. I had an ear infection and sinus infection. The doctor put me on antibiotics and I took an extra day off on Tuesday just to rest and let the meds kick in. By Friday, I was feeling much better, thank goodness.

Since I was out of work on Monday and Tuesday, I had a lot of catching up to do and on Thursday I had my sons virtual open house. It was 45 minutes of watching videos of how each class will be and they also had Q&A session but since I was watching the videos I missed them. He is in 10th grade so I know the deal and even with virtual he is doing pretty good

I was told it was ok to do this and since I am a very proud momma I thought I would share. While I know a lot of people have different views on this, I am going to share it anyway. Last week my daughter (12) came out to us as Gay and Non-Binary. We are super proud of her. Yes, I still use her since she is ok with She/Her/They/Them. I ask her before I use a term just to make sure I am not making her uncomfortable. We are happy for her and just want her to be happy, in our family, you are who you are and you love who you love. We are a no judgement family. We love her no matter what. No matter who she loves or how she identifies she is still my baby and I love her just the same. Plus for 12, I am proud that she knows herself so well, while she can change her mind at anytime, we really just love her no matter what. So I am a proud parent and love her/them to pieces!

October 23 Poppy Von Schweetz will be 7 months of pure terror but absolutely adorable. We have decided she is a sour patch kid, sometimes sweet and sometimes sour but so much fun. She plays fetch with these little balls that have glitter strands on them. She loses them all the time. I found them on Amazon and bought a few more. Probably should have looked at how many came in the package, I thought it said 20 but apparently we are getting 200. lol oops.

Had a good reading week and I think I am going to continue with the books I had for my TBR List as my next read for the FraterFest and the Halloween Readathon in the COYER Group. I am so obsessed with horror/slasher books at the moment! I was also in the mood for love so I grabbed Insatiable on KU i didn’t realize it was a book 3 but it’s cute so far so I don’t want to stop and it’s listed as a stand alone so I hope I don’t get confused, I hate reading books out of order.

I might grab Kill River 2 but I am not sure if I want to spend the money or wait for it to go on sale since I had issues with the first one, however the last few days it has been stuck in my head so I might want to read the next one….maybe.

What I grabbed:

  1. Hi! I’m a newbie around here – I met Berls via TMST. I want to say that I’m really happy for your daughter – she’s got a wonderful family. Sometimes it’s easy to be progressive until we come face to face to certain things…but she got lucky in that respect. Wishing her all the best!

    Have a nice WE 🙂.

    • Hi! Thank you! She will always be my baby no matter what. I agree sometimes it easier when your not facing it but I’ve had a feeling for a while. Her dad is good he still doesnt understand the non-binary but as long as she’s happy he is too:

  2. Ugh, sorry to hear about the ear/sinus infection. Those are so miserable. I hope you’re feeling much better this week.

Congrats to your daughter! How brave she is and how lucky that she felt comfortable enough to come out like she did. She obviously knew she was loved and felt safe in opening up and being honest. Good for her… and for you!

I hope your week is off to a great start!

  3. If Poppy is anything like my cat having 200 of the balls may be a good thing. I’m constantly having to hunt down the specific mice he likes that he loses constantly. So sorry about the ear infection! I’ve never had one but I had what I guess was the start of one and it hurt like crazy. Congratulations to your daughter. Definitely great that she is comfortable enough to talk to you about tough issues. Hope you’re having a great week.

OMG – 200 cat toys? That made me giggle b/c that is totally something I would do. I hope you are feeling better, as well. Now on to the more “serious” nature of your post – GIANT HUGS! I’m so happy that your daughter can express who she is and has a safe and loving home to share herself with you. You are doing a great job, Mom.

  5. Shelleyrae @ Book’d Out

I admire your daughters courage to be herself and your loving acceptance of her.

Wishing you a great reading week

  6. So glad that your ear is better! And way to go, Julia! Proud of her! Way to go Ryan, too! Wow, 10th grade already?! *faints* 200 instead of 20? Maybe you need the glasses instead of Julia. lol I hope you have a fantastic week, Michelle! XOXO

  7. I hope you’ll get rid of that ear and sinus infection real quick, Michelle! And good for you for taking the time to feel better straight away, I’m sure that’s going to help with your recovery.
And I almost want to say congratulations about your daughter! And to you and Mr. Hubs as well. You are amazing parents, which is why your daughter felt safe coming out to you. That’s really a badge of honor in my opinion. Plus, I agree with you! As long as my kids are happy, I don’t care what their sexual orientation or gender preferences are either 🙂
I miss you so much my friend! Have a wonderful week ahead, feel better, and stay safe and healthy. *big hugs*

    • I am hoping so, I hate being sick or feeling under the weather. Things get so messy around here when I am a lumpy sick person lol

Thank you, my kids mean so much to me and I just want her to be happy. I could tell it was bothering her not telling us and now she just seems like a weight is lifted from her shoulders. She knew how we felt about it but she needs to come out when she was ready. I never want her to feel uncomfortable in her skin or around us.

I can’t wait for the day we can hang again! I really do miss you! <3

  8. I am sorry to hear you got both an ear infection and sinus infection. I am glad to hear you’re doing a bit better.

I think it’s awesome that you’re so supportive of her and want her to be happy! And that’s awesome she knows herself/ themselves so well already.

At least with 200 new balls, it will be hard for Poppy to lose them all, lol! She sounds like a handful with that sweet and sour behavior, but she looks adorable!

    I hope you’ll have a great week!

  9. I get really bad sinus infections and allergies during the fall blah. With Poppy at least you will have a large supply for her to lose…lol. I heard that Kill River 2 is better than the first one though I don’t know what your issue with it was or if they are in the second one…lol.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  10. Bummer bout the ear infection. I am battling a sore throat right now from screaming myself hoarse and then for reasons I don’t understand, my nose is acting up, so I’ll likely have a cold tomorrow. Guess the lesson there is never scream myself hoarse.

Nice new read too! Seen a lot of bu over this one. Hope you love it!

    Here’s my StS
