A #Readathon, A fast week and A Halloween Dance ~ WIR & SP

Off the Blog, Blogging News and Updates:

I am writing this post on Friday since Saturday is the 24 hour Readathon and I am probably sleeping right now. I might also be awake, it depends on how long I lasted. I don’t have a list of the books I am reading below because I honestly don’t know what I read yet but I will have a full update next week.

I am a shitty blogger! 🙂 I am so behind but at this point, whatever….Thank you to everyone that stopped by my posts to comment. I appreciate it and hoping once things settle down I can get back into full blogger mode.

Why haven’t I been a good blogger? I have been trying so hard to get my pre-made cover business off the ground. Working full time and taking care of the family, leaves little time to do a lot of stuff. My main focus is getting my name out and getting authors in my group. If you are able to share my group for me, message me on Twitter or FB and I can send you something to use. Or just copy the link HERE and share it that way. I could use all the help I can get. Getting my name out is the hardest part. I have been making some awesome stuff, seriously, I’m even impressed with what I have done. I am hoping I can find the audience that will buy it. I am working on stuff so I have my fingers crossed. Plus I just recently finished covers for Author Laura Greenwood (she’s a blogger you might know her). I finished the first part of her series and now need to work on I think 4 more. She tends to change her mind often so I can’t remember how many I have left 🙂 lol

Otherwise that is why I haven’t really been around. I have two other jobs to finish for Limabean Designs but I am ok with the pace at the moment since I really don’t have time to take on a lot more and one job I have is a little complex but I am looking forward to it. I plan to spend most of Sunday, designing like a mad designer. 🙂

My daughter had a halloween dance on Thursday, she didn’t dress up but wore a cute halloween inspired outfit. The kids seem to have a good time. I helped hand out pizza and snacks for the kids. It was fun to watch them socialize or run around…whatever you want to call it. lol. We only have two more game in the season for cheerleading and I think my daughter is really going to miss it. I am trying to find something else for her to do that is associated with cheerleading. She is 100% positive she wants to do it every year and I am totally fine with that.

Friday was my sons IEP meeting for reevaluation but since we all feel he is in a good spot we are going to skip the eval and just leave the plan as is. Which is totally fine with me, when he is in 9th grade he will be able to handle it a little more but for now, the added stress of testing to be redetermined is pointless and not needed. He is going to stay regardless so it was easier to just leave the plan as is. I am very happy about that since he can not be main streamed at all yet. He is still so emotional and still have serious behavior issues that can’t be handled in a gen-ed population.

  1. I wish your school’s SPED department would come talk to our ED teacher. I can have a kid throwing shit, cussing people up a storm, and threatening any and everyone and still be in the classroom. As long as this kid doesn’t show physical aggression. Like? No. I’ve discovered that when re-eval comes around, some kids will no longer qualify and lose everything, so the testing is waived. I’m glad Ryan is getting what he needs. There are so many that don’t. Your cover designs look AHHHMAZING! I LOVE them. They are so pretty. I hope your pre-made group takes off.

  2. I think next time Dewey’s comes around I’m just going to do it regardless. There’s always some conflict that keeps me from participating but I’m never going to have a full 24 hours free so I just need to try and make it work. I’m glad your daughter enjoyed cheerleading and had a good time at the dance. It sounds like lots of fun. And that’s good about your son’s IEP. I have a friend whose son is really struggling with behavioral issues and they’re trying to get an IEP and behavioral plans and all of that setup. It’s become basically her full time job. I LOVE the covers! So gorgeous and the colors just pop – especially the touches of red. Have a great week!

  3. I’m glad the IEP team decided not to stress him out by more testing if y’all already knew the outcome! Sometimes, as a sped teacher, I think people feel that testing is good because data is good. But, thats a false equivalency especially to a young student!
Good luck with your cover business! I will certainly share if with some of my author friends!

    • Academically he is very smart. That isn’t the area he has problems with so the case manager tends to forget that. He is out sourced to another school and they want to keep him for as long as they can. He has issues still and just because he can do the tests doesn’t mean he doesn’t need the help. I hope that in 9th they will remember that after testing him.

Thank you! I am not a good pusher of stuff, lol

  4. You did great with Dewey’s I saw your Facebook updates. I am loving your new lovelies. Hope this week is a good one for you, my friend. I love your pre-mades. There is a business for it. Have you tried advertising on Indie promo sites and magazines line In’Tel?

    • Thanks Kim! I am looking forward to all of them. They might be on my next TBR List for November because I want to read at least one of them NOW! 🙂

Thank you! That means a lot. I have to look into promo sites, I don’t know any and I believe I might be able to get in InTel Mag. I will definitely look into it! Thank you for the suggestions! <3

  5. WOW!!! What amazing covers. I personally don’t like faces on my covers but Awakening is gorgeous – but Emerging is my favorite!! Well done!! I think what helps is having the author mention you in the post as the designer, that always turns into a few clicks. I’ve also seen promo packets with designer, model and photographer mentioned. Just something to think about.

I wouldn’t say that I loved a Darker Shade of Magic but I was incredibly pleased that I finished it and the third book was my favorite by far. I’m actually reading one of her other series The Savage Song and I’m LOVING it. But I really adored the covers from the DSOM – the black, red and white and the drawn images really spoke to me. I’m actually using the covers for a top ten best cover post this week, or next. 😀

Have a great day and happy reading!!

    • I lasted 16 hours, which wasn’t too bad. I managed to kick my slump and figured out how to help it for next time. Short reads a fun.
Yes I made those for a friend. I have 4 more to do but that set of the series is finished 🙂

  6. I am a zombie but I also didn’t make it the full 24 hours as I never do cause I have church and now I will be a bit of a zombie in church…lol. Hope you enjoy all those books you got I have heard good things about most of them.
